But it was way up in Glencoe/etc. and I was not going to drive up there just for it... but when I found myself in Winnetka and drove by, of course I needed to stop. Unfortunately (or, perhaps for my wallet, luckily) they didn't have much that I was interested in. They do sell merchandise by the vendor I was looking for but not the particular items. The rest of the stuff was unremarkable; it was either clothing that wouldn't fit me or stuff that I could probably find elsewhere. It is a nice sized shop though, and right on a corner so it's easy to find. Right across the street is the parking lot for downtown Winnetka shopping and there's also diagonal parking on Chestnut, so it's an easy top if you're in town.

It was his 25th anniversary gift from the company he worked for. I decided to bring it into Lambrecht's to have them estimate what it would cost to have it repaired. After a day or two, I received a phone call from them and was told that unfortunately, their watchmaker had determined that it needed a part that was no longer available. When I came in to pick up the watch, I discovered that they had cleaned and polished it, repaired the band, and put it in a presentation box for me to have as a keepsake-- all at no charge. I was very impressed with this kind gesture and I ended up coming back to buy a new watch from them. Lambrecht's is a great family-owned business.

I skipped the cute women's clothing and made my way towards the back of the store to check out the cute little onesies, tutus, etc for my little ones. I just so happened to be here during the Winnetka Sidewalk Sale so I got some fab deals on kicky pants PJs and other cute outfits for my son. I didn't have as much luck for my daughter, but next time we're in need for a tutu we'll be headed here. If you stop in on the 363 days the Winnetka Sidewalk Sale isn't happening it can be a bit pricey, but definitely worth checking out for the kids. And perhaps even yourself.

There's a small section of baby clothes if you need to shop for a little one. I bought a beautiful ornament there, shaped like Santa with a Chicago-scape painted on the back of his robes (and was glad to get it for 40% off); if that ornament was any indication of the ones they sold at the height of holiday shopping season, they had some beautiful ornaments, too. Where they fell down (hard, IMO) was service. I wandered for about ten or more minutes looking around. There were at least three employees here (though one was in the back for at least part of my visit), and only two other parties whilst I was in here--both of whom left at least five minutes before I finished up. Not a single employee said a word to me whilst until I checked out, when one had to acknowledge me. They talked to each other... I heard them gossiping about family holiday drama... and even when they stopped chatting and parted, neither could spare a hello or anything. All this is to say that I don't expect I'll return, which won't be too difficult since I'm not in Winnetka often, but there are other shops where you can get pretty much anything that's here and you'll be treated better.
