    Sandwich menu (Dec 2022)
    Gianna S.

Conveniently located downtown and near the train station, Zappia's is a great spot to stop and grab a sandwich. The bread for their subs was probably the best part about the food, it was delicious. Their menu seems large, but also somewhat limited in that there are only about 6 types of subs to choose from and nearly all involved multiple types of meat versus a simple ingredient list. (The menu online is larger than what was posted in the deli.) It was not clear if you could get the panini ingredients on a sub sandwich, for example. They were very short staffed on a weekend lunch hour - there were two men at the prep counter and one woman who was manning the register, taking orders, answering phones, and making sandwiches - and there was a line backed up waiting so it wasn't the right time to ask about menu swaps. It is also a full-service deli to get sliced meats and cheeses. The messy prep counter and the way multiple orders were being made at once by the same individuals means this deli is definitely NOT allergen or cross-contamination friendly. The prices initially seem a little high, but the sandwiches are larger than most delis or chains like Subway, the "half" size is comparable to a full sandwich elsewhere.

**this review is just for their catering business ** We placed a large catering order with Zappia's just a few days in advance of when we'd need it and had some dietary restrictions that they had no problem accommodating. We got: 1. A large sloppy joe platter and requested they make the sandwiches without any dairy (they otherwise come with cheese) 2. A large tray of wraps - they let us customize which wraps which picked v giving us a random assortment 3. A medium sandwich tray of just veggie sandwiches They had a surprising number of vegetarian sandwich options, and all three platters were a huge hit with our guests. Zappia's also delivered on time and for free, which was a really nice surprise too. The prices overall were incredibly reasonable and hundreds of dollars cheaper than another place we called first. We will happily cater from Zappia's again.

Loved the open seating. Perfect for dining semi-al fresco for those that like outside but not the sun. Prices decent. Pizza needed more sauce and the cheese had no real flavor but the crust was EXCELLENT! Light, airy, crisp... baked PERFECTLY!

A pretty large space with long deli counter, eight tables and a communal counter space.

OMG the chicken cordon bleu panini. I came here after reading rave reviews about this sandwich, and it truly delivered. Go eat one now. This is a deli so don't expect fancy dining. There are a few tables toward the front, and a long butcher's block style community table toward the back. Sandwiches, paninis and wraps are all made to order and range from standard classics to more adventurous deluxe options. Service is prompt and reviewers are right when they say don't dawdle in line. Only step up to the counter when you're ready to order or you may be run over by the commuter crowd racing to grab lunch before their train. Location is another upside to this gem. Right in downtown Summit (which I recently discovered is a great shop-around, ladies day out type town) and right across from the train station and street parking. Seriously though, go get that sandwich ASAP.

Polite helpful people and I love their sandwiches. It's totally worth the money to skip past Subway and get your turkey footlong here.

Good $1 any size coffee... Not the best coffee and not the worst... The price compared to Dunkin Doughnuts and Starbucks is perfect...

I used to come to Zappia's often when I worked in Summit. Their sandwiches are very good and the ingrediants are fresh.

We had quite an assortment of hearty items from their extensive menu. The Big Dudes ‍‍platter consisted of a hot #pastrami sandwich, a stuffed pastrami knish, Rueben eggrolls, potato chips and assorted pickles. Joe and I weren't feeling desserty so we split a pastrami hotdog(ripper style). Everything was delicious and with all of the food choices in New Providence, it would have to be. It's a nice, clean shop with a friendly crew and great location on Springfield Avenue. This is your best Union County pastrami spot!

We had the Traditional Sloppy & the Turkey Sloppy. Both were very good. Could have been "sloppier" for my taste, as in not enough Russian Dressing or Coleslaw. I now understand why my Wife wanted extra Russian on her sandwich. She said it still wasn't enough, lol. My Wife enjoyed the coleslaw so much she wanted a side of it. if I could give this business zero stars I would. I ordered two takeout sandwiches last night…read more There were three people in the restaurant. That's it. During dinner. That's sad. A $25 Reuben should be amazing. My bread was greasy and soggy because they couldn't take the time strain the sauerkraut. The dry turkey meat was lumped in the middle of the sandwich. It was small. I guess they are putting the $$$ increases on their customers and lowering the quality of their food. My sandwich was so disgusting and in soggy pieces I had to throw it out ! $50 for two sandwiches and they were awful. I don't mind paying good money for good food. But this was far from that. After speaking with the owner, I was shocked and appalled that he was so careless in his business. He was more concerned about himself and his profit margin. I work hard for my money too. When I told him I was not happy he told me that I should take it to yelp and write a review if that's what I felt like I needed to do. So here it is. Hands-down the worst sandwiches I've ever had. Definitely has gone down hill. If there are three customers in your store and there's five people working the very least you could do is make a decent sandwich. I will not be returning to Goodmans. I do not recommend it. The place is empty, dingy, and the food was garbage.
