This is my 2nd shot at Zao in Orem and honestly another huge disappointment. I want to like it SO BAD! Their food is cold. Their green beans are so hard and just taste like plastic. I've now tried all the sauces and each has been watered down and honestly just hits the bottom of my bowl and none of my actual food because it's so watered down. The chicken is not good quality you can just tell by the way they've chosen to cut it but that doesn't matter much anyway because you literally get a tiny spoon full of protein in your huge bowl full of your rice/noodle (cheap move zao) Also, each time I've noticed like an old gross vegetables l..z you'll randomly get these hard (gross when you have to spit it out of your mouth because you're not sure what it is..) or black meshy veggies that you just know aren't quality AT ALL. WAY over priced for the poor quality/not fresh products and lack of actual food you get. They load up your bowl of rice and noodles and skim ya on everything else. I've been coming here for the past two years and recently have noticed a huge change: the attitudes of the employees that work at this location. Literally every time I go now, I get some kind of negative attitude, whether that be the rolling of eyes when I ask for something extra, to the annoyed reactions I get when I ask for specific food preferences. It's gotten to the point where I don't even want to deal with the employees and have my friends order for me. Recently I went there and the chicken served wasn't fully cooked. I asked for another bowl with new chicken and the employee took from the same container the I cooked chicken was in and then they took the whole bin and dumped it over my food. It was drowning in sauce and was completely inedible. I hope something changes and soon! read more

I had a salad bowl and the veggies were fresh, good variety to choose from and the sesame ginger salad dressing was on point. I will definitely be returning to try other items on the menu. I also had the "Guacamame", which is avocado and edamame combined. It had a constancy/texture more like hummus. I personally feel like they should have just left good ole' guac alone. We decided to give this place a try since it was the Chinese new year and it was a new place in our town. The flavors were fresh and good service was quick. They were fairly stingy with the amount of sauce and other toppings they add to the rice or noodles which was a big turnoff for our group. Another incongruent factor was the odd mixture of music (ugh..really bad) and the addition of chips and guacamole on the menu that seemed not to jive with Asian vibe they were trying to convey. We thought, at least use deep fried wontons instead of corn chips to maintain the Asian theme. Overall, It was pretty good for a fast food assembly line meal. read more

Same kind of layout like chipotle or costa vida. Healthy, fresh, and has lots of flavor! My younger brother introduced my husband and I to this place last summer. It has been one of our favorite places since! I was a little hesitant to take my 9 and 10 year old there just because they are kids and get picky at times but they both LOVED it. You walk in and you're greeted by an incredibly friendly and professional staff. You pick the tacos, a bowl, a bahn mi sandwich, a salad, or a soup. You pick your protein (meat or tofu), you pick your sides and garnishes, and it's time to eat. Everything looks fresh, and more importantly, it tastes really fresh. Their fusion concept is brilliant and it works incredibly well. There's not a lot of places around Utah County that I would recommend, but this place definitely made my short list. Every time I order small group takeout (4-6 people), these restaurants cant get the order right, complete as ordered or on time as promised. The worse part is showing up only to find out your order won't be completed as promised putting us the customer in a position where we HAVE to take what we're being given.
