This is the roof top bar near JW Marriott. It had great views of the city and had the soccer match playing - USA vs Paraguay and USA won! We sat at the opening seating near the bar, which means you have to order at the bar - no one will come to take your order. The food and drinks were very good for bar food - of course the prices were high too. We had some salmon crispy rice and poke with guacamole and tuna. Very happening place - when we left, there was a line forming outside, since it had reached capacity.

Great mixology for all of the drinks we had! Whatever shot the bartender mixed up for me was yummy as well. The food was good too but it is definitely small bites, so we got more food after drinks here. Service could have been better with the server for our table, who we caught rolling her eyes at us with an attitude several times and the most irritated look on her face from greeting til check. Otherwise the bartenders and hosts were all great and welcoming. This place is great for photo ops with views of the city all around! We parked in the parking garage across the street ($10 for the time we were there, about 3hrs?). You take an elevator up to the place but there is a just downstairs that directs you prior to meeting the hosts upstairs.

You go for the views and ambiance, not the drinks. They're either just ok or not great. Sugary or lack of flavor. The staff is nice and mostly prompt. They're friendly. The skyline views are great for vibes and pics. People are friendly.

Staying at the Austin Marriott Downtown and decided to check out the rooftop restaurant. Great energy and ambience, but turns out it's really more of a bar with bites than a restaurant. Tables are low and hard to eat at, service was pretty slow and inattentive, and food options are minimal. I did like the Guacapoke ($19, guacamole and poke bowl with chips), though wasn't impressed by the crab tostadas ($20). Nine of the drinks appealed to me as they were fairly fruity tiki drinks, nothing super complex or interesting IMHO. I'd definitely come back with a large group to relax with drinks, but I wouldn't come alone or for dinner again.

This place is all VIBES! We came around 6pm and it was pretty light, we had a great spot to enjoy ourselves and the views. The service was great, I forgot his name but very chill, personally and still professional. We ordered Mexican mules that were not good, once we mentioned it he quickly offered remake or different drink and the new drink came out better tasting. Make sure you order "feels like summer" We also ordered crab salad tostadas- we could have gone without! Too much mayo for our liking. It actually ending up a running joke for us everywhere we went since I ordered it. We wanted to comeback for the vibes and good drinks but our time was limited. I do recommend this place if those downtown

Came here for our Girls Trip weekend & they did not disappoint:) We had a group of five and we were seated immediately. We ordered drinks and I love the themed drinks. In addition, we ordered Pu Pu Platter: jerk wings/ duck eggrolls (best bite)/shrimp skewers/homemade chips & pineapple salsa Crab Tostada & Guacapoke All the food was amazing. The eggrolls are a must-try. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely come back whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Roof top bar yes. Views of convention center construction yes but not good. Interesting place here. Food looked ok. We had wagyu skewers but not much meat on them for $20. I had a local draft which was good. The drink in the cactus had really good flavor as well. The waitress was good but this place needs more options for food and drinks. Especially since it's on top of a very nice hotel.

I was staying in the hotel and on Friday night I came up to have a bite and a drink. I was only greeted by Autumn and she was lovely. Started out with the cosmopolis in the bartender behind. The line was so nice and he was cute. I forgot what his name was but he was so nice. My bow buns arrived and I took the first bite, and it was literally soft and crunchy at the same time and the flavors were incredible. My drink was made perfectly and I loved to listen to music, in the view and I'm gonna say this again and then you is outstanding up there can't wait to come back. I live in West Palm Beach Florida visiting my son and I cannot wait to go back to the hotel was great. Except I didn't have any hot water the entire weekend which really was a bummer but I can't wait to come back. thank you so much Autumn you were wonderful..

Who would have thought we would find a Tiki Bar in Texas? Not only did we find it, they were located on the roof of the Marriott Hotel. So we had great drinks, food and a view of the Austin skyline. The tropical drinks were cleverly named and had good ingredients. It was 90° during the day and humid, I quickly chose a frozen cocktail to quench my thirst. The Zanizabar Swizzle was a perfect choice ($16) Rum, Ginger, Hibiscus, Lime. For dinner we ordered a Teriyaki Burger with House-made Chips and an Ahi Bowl. Both had generous portions, nicely plated and delicious. Our waitress was super kind and polite because we asked a lot of questions (lol). You can take the elevator from the sidewalk without entering the hotel. Upon reaching the roof, we didn't have a reservation, but they found us a very nice couch with a coffee table. It was perfect to relax and enjoy the goodlife. The decor was very nice with Tiki torches to light the area, lush tropical plants. Tables and chairs in the main area, couches for small groups toward the back. Music was playing, there was a good crowd and welcoming vibe. There was a rooftop swimming pool and lounge chairs a few steps away for hotel guests. I recommend having a taste of Hawaii while in Texas. Sincerely, Rosemary (California)

Absolutely one of my favorite rooftop bars in the city. Service is always amazing and some nights, I don't have to make a reservation!

My last night in Austin and my gf and I wanted a rooftop bar/lounge where we could just chill, have a few drinks, and actually hear each other talk. Enter Zanzibar, located on the 7th floor of the Austin Marriott Downtown. The vibe here is super cute! The decor leans tropical and a great open-air terrace. This is a perfect place to unwind with a drink and enjoy the warm Austin night air. We had a few cocktails and some wine while catching up, and of course had to try the chocolate lava cake. Rich, warm, and chocolatey, definitely a sweet way to wrap up my last night in Austin!

We went here for our nightcap before heading to our room. Their mix is more on the sour side too little alcohol. Ambiance is cool, noise level is high & their servers are very friendly & nice.

This was our first visit to Zanzibar and it exceeded our expectations. Our server Jiani recommended cocktails and appetizers for us and everything he suggested was great! The drinks were refreshing and cute. The ambiance had a great esthetic and decor. It really felt like we were on a tropical vacation. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this spot to everyone. Ask for Jiani!

Is the seated table part rooftop as well, or just the bar?

All of that floor is part of the Rooftop. Bar seating, couches/chairs with tables

Do we need a reservation for a party of 4 on a saturday afternoon? do we need to be hotel guests?

Typically, its best to have reservations. You do not need to be staying at the hotel to attend. They have their own entry outside of the hotel as well.

Can you park at the Marriott or where do you have to park?

Yes, you can park at the Marriott (valet).

What's the difference between a standard table and a high top?

High tops are typically for parties of two, there are also 5 central hightops in the bar area which is first come first serve. A standard table is a table that has a lawn chair or couch-those tables are host seated.

No unless you have a service dog

Food: 2/5: The food was pretty basic, especially considering the price. We ordered two drinks, two burgers, and a side of fries, and the total came to $65. For that price, I expected better quality and flavor. Unfortunately, the burgers and fries tasted comparable to something you'd pull straight out of your freezer. There are better food options in the area. Service: 1/5: The service was the biggest disappointment. When we approached the register, the bartender/cashier greeted us with a casual "What's up?" My partner ordered a margarita, but the order was made incorrectly. When he politely asked if it could be remade, the bartender laughed at him. Laughing at a customer who is simply asking for their order to be corrected is unprofessional and unnecessary. On top of that, customers are prompted to leave a tip despite there being no table service. You order at the register, pick up your food at the bar, and are expected to bus your own table. Overall: I was pretty disappointed with the experience. While the location is convenient if you're visiting Deep Eddy Pool, the food doesn't justify the price, and the service leaves a lot to be desired. Between the mediocre food, the rude interaction, I left feeling that the experience simply wasn't worth the money. There are better options in the area, and I wouldn't go out of my way to return.

The staff is friendly and the venue is very accommodating of the weather with coverage and fans for the heat and heat lamps for those "cold" Austin nights. They have a decent amount of seating and TVs throughout the bar so you can definitely catch a game there. One of the best parts of the whole bar is the nighttime view of downtown. From there you can see the Cisco building and some other high-rises, definitely a nice contrast to the closed one or two story bars around. The Cat's Pajamas is a fun rooftop bar, not too crazy, not too sit down. It finds just the right spot for those who don't want to push through crowds on the street but still want a little bit of life out of their evening. He told me about the happy hour specials and also informed me that it was free pool night (on Mondays). I'm not a huge fan of whiskey, but I've found that whiskey bars tend to have amazing craft cocktails. I browsed the HH menu and noticed a Whiskey Sour. I actually like a Clarified Whiskey Sour and was curious to see how it compared. The Whiskey Sour wasn't bad, but it wasn't as good as the Clarified Sour that I've had at Reserve 101 in Houston. Kyle told me they're working on some clarified cocktails. I also ordered a Boulevardier (which isn't on the HH menu). Kyle admitted that he had never made one. He quickly looked up the ingredients and made one for me and it wasn't bad! I've only had this cocktail one other time before so I didn't have much to compare it to, but I did enjoy it. They have a small cigar menu. Cigars can be smoked outside on the patio (which is shared with Las Perlas and Caña Rum Bar). I liked the laid back feel between the pool tables and the rustic decor (it felt like I was in a lodge). Though I'm not a big whiskey drinker, I did enjoy the cocktails as well as the ambiance.

There are some highly interesting bourbons as well. The selection of ryes is thin. If you read Whiskey Advocate (which I have been known to do), the rye curating will give you no thrills. The selection of Irish is thin as well - but no blame on that point. The population of upscale Irishes is just not that large, once you pass some over-rated cliches like Redbreast. * * * Seven Grand however is not an abstract name. That is how much you will pay in order to drink here. The prices for two ounces of many of those beverages will make the eyes pop out of your head sideways and go running out the front door. In more than a few cases, two drinks here will cost you close to what you would pay for a full bottle purchased at a liquor store. Now to be sure - bar drinking is expensive. That kind of percentage markup is not unheard of in the industry. But when you move up the price range for the raw material, The absolute amount of money you are overpaying to have that drink goes up astronomically. I will pay big for a peak experience I will remember for the rest of my life. (See my review of Craft Omakase.) I will not pay big for a random experiment with a bottle that could be wonderful and could be overrated. It is more economical to just buy the bottle. If the experiment works, I get a free month of legendary drinking. To my mind, bottle testing at Seven Grand just doesn't make sense.
