Mixed Combo Kabob Plate with tabbouleh, rice and cucumber salad. An extra skewer of shish kabob and a small side of tabbouleh.

Allow me to share with you why the Zankou Chicken in Glendale is the best of them all. It begins with the chipper, professional attitude that Carlos has when taking your order over the phone. When you arrive to the restaurant, you are greeted with a kind smile and your order is made promptly and completely. They're even generous with their garlic paste and extra peppers that are asked for, free of charge. But most of all, I was incredibly impressed with Ruth's humility and compassion. It is very clear that she and the team work very hard and have pride in their work. This team offers exemplar customer service! The food is clean, well made, and delicious. The team is efficient, professional and polite! I highly recommend Zankou Chicken in Glendale!

Another delicious Zankou Chicken location. This location is just as busy as the others I've been to with the same old school decor. There is a small parking lot in front and an underground parking structure that has an elevator if you are concerned about accessibility. I was in the area and decided to drop in for takeout. Took home chicken, hummus, garlic paste, tabbouleh, pickles, and tzatziki. Every single item was so good. They forgot my baklava though hence the one star down.

I've come back here a few more times since my last review; mainly because it's the closest location to me, and let's be real, I love my chicken. I'm someone who prefers healthy, smaller meal portions, and Zankou definitely delivers on that (They offer other, large portioned items on the menu, but this is simply what I like). That said, I really want to point out how much the service has improved for me since my original experience. Tigran (shoutout to you!) has been amazing every time I've come in these past few months. He's taken care of my order with no issues, and even when he's not there, the other staff members have been nothing short of great. I always get the Chicken Tarna in a large container or the Tarna bowl with rice. And since I've become a bit of a regular lately, Tigran and a few of the others have remembered my name and my order, which honestly makes me feel so welcome. I'm really glad I gave this place another shot; now it's one of my favorite quick food spots to stop by.

Had a amazing experience at this location Kim was super friendly and recommended me a kebab which was delicious will be back thanks Kim for your service and recommendation;) love this zankou garlic sauce to die for

The food is delicious. I like the variety of food options, there is a lot of seating, and the customer service. If you are craving middle eastern flavor, this is a must.

Me and my cousin were on our way home from Los Angeles after a very long day at work and I still had about an hour and a half left to go, so I decided to look up a spot to eat. I was craving mediterranean food and after a quick google search, I found this particular spot and I figured I'd give it a try. Parking isn't the easiest as its very limited, however I was able to find a spot close by and I walked in. Upon walking in, I was greeted by Tigran and a friendly and welcoming personality. I stood in life while I looked at the menu and he had asked if we were ready, however I needed a bit more time to see what I was going to order. Once I was ready, I walked up to the counter and Tigran proceeded to take our order. My cousin ordered the Chicken Tarna Plate with the basmati rice and garden salad, while I opted for the Chicken Kabob Plate with basmati rice and their tabbouleh salad and an extra chicken skewer. We also ordered two drinks, my cousin had the hibiscus tea and I had the cucumber mint lemonade. The hibiscus tea was not sweetened as most places, which is actually a good thing and pairs up great with this good. My cucumber mint lemonade was the BEST lemonade I've ever had, it was extremely delicious. I must admit I did have to add extra ice and dilute it slightly by adding some water because it was the taste was strong, but in a good way. After serving our drinks, we walked over to take a seat by the windows facing south, the overall seating area was really nice and open, with plenty of space around each seat. I wanted to watch the Dodger game and so I chose this seat where I can have my iPad streaming the game while I enjoyed my food. While I waited for my food, I realized this place is fairly busy, lots of traffic, however it is not overcrowded by any means. I believe majority of orders were to go, however seeing a lot of people made me think this food was going to be really good. After waiting a little bit of time, my order was ready and I called up. I grabbed my tray and walked back to my table. I realized they had these little clear containers with something white inside, looked like some semi-clear white paste but I wasn't sure what it was. Curious to know, I walked to the front and asked Tigran what it was and with a smile he said "That's garlic sauce", I told him I wasn't sure but not once did he make me feel odd or weird about asking what it was. He continued to have a friendly personality. I finally decided to try out the food and oh man, the food was DELICIOUS, I have only had mediterranean from a few places, 5 to be exact, and this one was definitely on top of the list. Each one of our plates had 2 pita breads, which I really appreciated since all the other spots only come with 1 bread and I have to purchase additional ones. I realized maybe I shouldn't eat more than 1 but it was really good, you know I ate both of them haha I could not finish my meal, perhaps because I had 3 cups of the lemonade, or the two pita breads, so I decided t take it to-go. I walked to the counter and asked Tigran if i could have a to-go box for my food and he gave me a very sturdy box, which worked perfect compared to some other flimsy containers other restaurants hand out. I also ordered an extra side of hummus, trust me its REALLY good! Tigran asked me what my name was (for the new order) and I said 'Francisco', he said "Ok I'll try to remember that, I sometimes forget but I will try to remember your name next time you come in" with a smile again. I said I wasn't from this area and I lived out of town, I was just passing by. Overall, I give this place 5 start but I would give it 10 if it was possible. To the staff at Zankou Chicken, thank you for keeping a clean place, to the kitchen, great job, everything was delicious, and last but not least, to Tigran, thank you for everything. If you read this, thank you for the welcoming and friendly customer service, keep it up. I will DEFINITELY stop by for lunch or dinner again when I drive to Los Angeles. Sincerely, Francisco P. P.S. Too bad I did not take a better picture of my food or my cousin's plate.

Zankou chicken is one of my top three Mediterranean favorites alongside Massis Kabob and The Kebab Shop. The fresh flavors and high quality ingredients makes the meal. I always get the chicken tarna and the meat is always so tender. I like that it's chopped into small bites. Love the inclusion of pickled radish and fresh tomatoes. Their hummus is so creamy!!! Their tabbouleh salad is not the best but still delicious. Same for the baklava it tasted like it had been sitting there for a while. Highly recommend this Mediterranean restaurant for your cravings and they also deliver!!!

Located at a strip mall beside a gas station in Glendale, Zankou was not on my list of must-try places when we went to LA. We were staying in the area and wanted something quick and casual so my MIL suggested Zankou and I was pleasantly surprised. Food was served hot and wait time wasn't too bad. Portions were big too. Thoroughly enjoyed my beef wrap with the side cucumber salad. Their hummus and pita were delicious too. The chicken and beef plate were juicy and seasoned well. I get why this is my MIL's go-to whenever she's in Glendale. Definitely coming back next time we're in town.

    Yummy hummus.

Despite living in L.A. my entire life, I have never had Zankou. I've heard their garlic sauce is the best. As an Amazon Prime member, I get free delivery with Grubhub so I decided to finally give the infamous garlic sauce a try. Ok, I didn't just order the garlic sauce. I also got a salad, Harissa hot sauce, hummus, pita bread, pita chips, & baklava for dessert because I've been craving it. My food was delivered on time and securely packaged. The salad contained lettuce, cucumber, kalamata olives, parsley, feta, & lemon tahini dressing. Everything was fresh. The Lemon Tahini dressing was good but since I like spicy, I doused my salad with the Harissa hot sauce. That stuff is bomb! I would buy a whole jar full. The hummus was creamy and had a nice flavor. I mixed in some of the garlic sauce, and it was even yummier. Their pita bread is baked daily, and I could taste the freshness. It was soft & fluffy. The pita chips were also good. I'm guessing they are made from day old pita. The garlic sauce did not disappoint. I love garlic and let me tell you - this sauce could keep a legion of vampires away! The baklava was also tasty. The filo layers were slightly crips & flaky, the ratio of nut filing was perfect, and it wasn't over saturated with honey, so it wasn't overly sweet. My craving was satisfied. I don't eat meat but I'm guessing their chicken is as good as everything else. I will order from here again and try some of the other vegetarian options.

Staff were absolutely wonderful and very helpful with menu items and deciding between the 'crispy' or regular Caesar wrap. I love the industrial Italian atmosphere when you walk in. I brought my food home and loved the crispy look of the chicken inside the wrap! I got extra dressing on the side. It's VERY GARLIC-E! Very good but very strong garlic and I'm a garlic lover. It's decently sized which is nice because I was able to save half for lunch the next day however, I did use a different Caesar from the fridge in an effort to minimize my garlic intake the 2nd day. Would highly recommend trying this place! I am looking forward to trying additional items off the menu as well!

Probably wouldn't be coming back again even if a friend wants to grab a quick lunch, I would contest and pick a different spot due to difficult parking and food wasn't great. The J Stilly -for the price of their menu, you would expect the over all sandwich to shine.. They're not cheap. Decent size but not huge. Bread was what put me off. Bread is quite tough and dry, it was missing that bouncy moisture that amazing bread has. Maybe they don't have a great starter yeast? Content of sandwich was good, flavor was there. But the chicken also wasn't great, it wasn't too dry but wasn't good either. Also sandwich was quite wet and dry at the same time, too much sauce and bread sucked that it didn't soak up any of it.. The Spicy P - same bread issue. Since the chicken cutlet was deep fried it help with it from being dry but it also wasn't juicy. Also very wet sandwich, too much sauce? The Crispy Chicken Caesar Wrap -this was great, one of the best chicken ceaser wraps I've had flavor wise. Tortilla also had a good chew to it. Since we ordered the crispy chicken one, it wasn't dry.

The Art of the Singular Obsession: Why Zhengyalov Hatz is Glendale's Most Focused Masterpiece…read more------- There's a specific kind of anxiety that comes with opening a menu that reads like a telephone book. When a kitchen tries to make pizza, sushi, and a passable club sandwich all at once, they usually fail at all three. Give me a specialist. Give me someone who wakes up every morning, stares at a single dish, and spends their entire life chasing perfection. Tucked away at 318 E Broadway in Glendale, Zhengyalov Hatz is exactly that kind of sanctuary. They don't have a menu so much as a mission statement. They make one thing. One single, spectacular, fiercely guarded Armenian culinary tradition. And they do it so perfectly that the Michelin Guide had no choice but to take notice. // The Vibe and the Craft // You walk in, and the air hits you immediately--the unmistakable, primal scent of hot griddles and a massive volume of fresh herbs. The clean-lined, minimalist space is centered entirely around a simple walk-up counter, but don't let the efficiency fool you; the greeting you receive the second you step up is instantly warm and genuine. There are no secrets here. You watch as seasoned hands work the dough, rolling out delicate, paper-thin sheets, burying them under an impossibly large mountain of finely chopped greenery, and folding them into tight parcels on the hot griddles. It's a beautiful, well-oiled operation where a steady stream of locals are constantly in and out, clutching take-out boxes filled with their greenly miracles. // The Main Event: The Namesake // The dish is the Zhengyalov Hatz, and when it arrives hot off the griddle, blistered, slightly charred in places, and absolutely steaming, it is a revelation. You bite through that crisp, yielding dough into a dense, vibrant green lining of over a dozen different varietals--spinach, scallions, sorrel, beet leaves, and herbs you probably couldn't name if you tried. It shouldn't be this complex, but it is. It hits every corner of the palate: it's sharp, it's sour, it's earthy, and deeply, viscerally satisfying. Even if you're a devout carnivore, this plant-forward flatbread demands your absolute respect. It's a complete meal wrapped in a charred, unleavened embrace. In fact, the last time I walked through those doors, I had to buy two orders just for myself. It really is that good. (Pro tip: have them slide a pat of butter in there to melt down into the hot greens. Don't overthink it, just do it.) // The Supporting Cast // Because they only make one main dish, deciding what to order takes about three seconds. To wash it down, you get the Okroshka--a cold, tangy yogurt drink punched up with dill and cucumber. It serves as the perfect, refreshing counter-hook to the warm, earthy flatbread. To finish, grab a square of their Paxlava (baklava). It's built with flaky phyllo and ground nuts, offering just a light crust and a sweetness that doesn't overpower the palate. // The Verdict // In a culinary landscape obsessed with "more"--more options, more fusion, more noise--Zhengyalov Hatz is a masterclass in "less." They have bet their entire existence on the power of a single, flawless creation, and they absolutely nail it. It's authentic, it's unpretentious, and it is a mandatory stop. Go early before they sell out, eat it hot, and remember what it tastes like when people actually give a damn about their heritage.

I was expecting the corn to be like esquite but it was corn on the cob, but that was my bad for assuming. Between the salmon and the chicken, I loved the salmon since it was crispy and juicy as well. Chicken was good too. Not a big raw veggie person when it comes to tomatoes, but happily ate it with my salad and proteins. Definitely only ate half of my meal since it was a lot and got the rest to go with a bunch of sumac packets since it's my fave seasoning with this food. So glad I was able to find and try this place out! Definite felt pricey when paying at first but the quality of food and service you get is worth it.

The food is incredible, the service is fast, and the place spotless. I've tried several wraps, plates, and salads, and every dish has been nothing short of delicious. The meat is unbelievably tender and flavorful, and whatever seasoning they use is pure magic. Fresh veggies, tasty sides, and delicious sauces make every dish a winner. If you want quick and healthy, tasty meals then you need to check out Grillers.
