Absolutely wonderful meal! We were passing through on our way from Little Rock to San Antonio. The yelp review led us to Zanata and we were not disappointed! Our server Rachel was fantastic and our food was stellar! The Blue Crab Dip, ribeye, duck and chicken Alfredo were all phenomenal. Our kids cleaned their plates. Our only sticking point was that our pizza was cold. Our server promptly removed it from our table and our bill. My daughter said she'd walk from Little Rock to Zanata's to eat there again! There was also a beautiful town square and live music to enjoy while we waited for our table. Rockwall is a wonderful town and Zanata's is definitely a must do! Highly recommend!! read more

This place is top shelf and a great style of restaurant in Rockwall. No reservations are taken is the only draw back.

My husband and I love this place. We don't go super often because it is very busy and more upscale but when we do go it is special. The service has been good and the ambiance is very nice. It can be a bit loud. Probably the best crab dip I have ever had. read more

Zanata is, hands down, one of my favorite restaurants. I love the small town feel sitting right off of the Rockwall square, the interior is comforting and hip all at the same time. Their salads are always great (spinach is the best) and could feed three. Pizzas from the woodfire are great, and their menu always keeps the great favorites (stuffed pork chop) but continually offers new options. Whenever friends/family from out of town come to visit our little city to the east of Dallas, I bring them here! read more

Went to Zanata for lunch today, I believe this is a relatively new thing for them (maybe since Square Market closed?). There was an insert in the menu offering some sandwiches, which I'm guessing is a lunch thing. It wasn't busy at all, but we went a little late - around 1:15 or so (I work on the square, so we all walked over.. side note, the construction looks like it might be almost done? not soon enough for me). A co-worker and I both had the Harvest Salad. She loved it, I thought it was good, but had too much goat cheese on it - I'm not a huge fan, and it was in large pieces on the salad. I think something with a little more tang would have been better. The dressing was pretty mild, too, so the most pronounced flavors were the sparse apricots and the thin slices of granny smith apples. I'm usually a big fan of fruity and nutty salads, so I was a little disappointed, but I finished it :) Another coworker had the pork chop, and it was huge, and looked really tasty. He didn't offer me a bite, but did exclaim several times after we got back to the office how good it was. I did get to try some of my boss's eggplant parmesan, and it was quite good, and I don't even usually like eggplant much :P We ordered a House pizza to share, also. It was good, nice crust, lots of meaty goodness. I have leftovers for dinner! Our service was attentive, however we did get served the wrong pizza at first -- our server happily brought us the right one, though. I'd like to go back for dinner sometime, and probably have the pork. We didn't have dessert, but we honestly didn't have room anyway! read more

I was craving a mushroom sandwich and ended up eating here and getting a sandwich that had zuchini, mushroom, and some other vegetable. It was amazing. The "fruit" salad that came with it was also good. And when I asked for blue cheese, they brought me a ramikan with a huge chunk of blue cheese floating in the middle. Seems it was made there in the restaurant. You could taste in the freshness and the quality of the food that everything was made there and from scratch. I will definitely go back next time I'm visiting Rockwall. read more

First, let me say my date and I were planning to eat at The Oar House on my birthday but after skimming a few reviews, we decided against it- such inconsistent opinions. We tossed around a few other suggestions and in the end chose Zanata, which turned out to be the best decision!!! The place is nice and small, and at around 8pm on a Thursday night, was less than half occupied so no wait. Our super-duper waiter Eddie was at our table the moment we sat down. We knew (from past patrons) to order the Blue Crab Dip and Eddie advised we substitute flatbread for the usual ciabatta served. Excellent suggestion, we thought we'd died and gone to heaven!! We were still raving to each other about the dip we were about to finish when our entrees came- Hazelnut Crusted Sea Bass for myself and Steak Diane for Captain Fantastic (with plans to split both) Words- there are none to describe how glorious both dishes were...we just couldn't think of another time we'd had such fabulous meals,- fresh, HOT, seasoned well, cooked perfectly and artistically arranged! The sides- winter vegetables served with the bass and potato purée and gravy with the steak were awesome. We split a flaming Bananas Foster, or tried to, but as rich as it was only managed a few bites each, sooo good! While we agreed this didn't appear to be a lot of food for the money, somehow, we were still laughing about how stuffed we were 5 hours later! Too expensive for weekly dining, this place is perfect for special occasions, yet no need to get 'uncomfortably' dressed up. Amazing food but can be a little to loud. Service is good and cost is reasonable. You want to check this place out.

It's loud, so be prepared to yell or just eat the awesome food. I can keep quiet and just da our every luscious bite!

Great local place. The food is very good. The Z salad is my all time favorite, anywhere. The sea bass is also very good. Pizza is done in a wood fired oven so not only is this a great date night, it is also very family friendly. The owner seems to be always around so the place remains well managed. The best place for dinner in Rockwall! The appetizers were fabulous-especially the Blue Crab Dip. The paella was one of the best I have ever had! I've ordered the special 90% of my times there and have NEVER been disappointed! These guys know how to cook! We visit Zanata at least weekly and believe the food is as good as there is in the metroplex. Zanata does however have a sound issue and should look into some sort of sound absorbing materials for the brick walls. It is uncomfortably loud and that detracts from an otherwise great place. They recently had a scallop with avocado cream sauce that is awesome ... I hope they make it a menu item. Great place but noisy. read more

One of our favorite places. I'm not sure why this place does not get more recognition for its pizza, simply some of the best wood fired pizza in the Dallas area. My wife and I typically split a spinach salad (which is also outstanding) and a pizza. It's a perfect dinner for two. I've gotta admit we haven't tried too many other things in their menu although it all looks delicious, it's just the pizza is so good! read more

Zanata is Rockwall's best restaurant! We go there ALL the time!! The pizzas are great...especially for a cheap date!! The rib-eye is amazing..the pesto, mushrooms and potatoes make the dish! The salads are huge and delicious! I have had everything on the menu and it is all great! The meatball appetizer and the mussels are our favorites! The nightly specials are always the best! When they have crabcakes...don't miss them...they are the best I have ever had! If you love truffles and proscuitto ...this is your place! Great wine list and good beer selection! read more

I went here for the wood fired pizza. The pie comes out with a perfect crust but, soggy for the rest. They need to fix this problem as the urban spoon agreed with me. They do have a decent lunch menu. read more

Been several times. Only once did we have VERY poor service. Slow night even...I blame waiter as he should have been checking on meal for us, but he chose to blame cook staff losing ticket. Whatever. Mgmt tried to provide some restitution, which did not cut the mark, so we had to suggest what would, which they agreed to- albeit grudgingly. But, I came back and still recommend to others, so it should have been worthwhile in their opinion. read more

My go to restaurant!!! I've been to other wood fire Italian restaurants and nothing compares to zanatas. Their blue crab, hummus and pimiento cheese I crave on a daily basis. Chunks of crab meat in a gooey feta cheese dip or pimiento cheese spread on top of hot, soft flat bread hit the spot every time as an appetizer. Also the lamb chops are divine and for pizza go with the wood roasted chicken pizza. All the different flavors go together wonderfully. The service is great too. Kristen is amazing and makes the experience even greater, sweet, hard worker. It's a little loud but the quality of the food makes up for it. The owners are super sweet as well. They come say hello to us every time we are in and take their time to talk to us and make sure everything is going great. Over all the best restaurant in town!
