This was a nice find on the Rockwell town square. We had a great experience there. The crab dip appetizer was a good start. It was offered with slices of bread, a bit pasty, and large pieces of cracker-like chips which was much better. I had a Supreme pizza which was a bit spicy, great flavor and filling. Wood fired pizza oven adds flavor and ambience. House red wine by the glass was very good. Full bar on site and bottles of wine. Best of all the Bananas Foster was extraordinary. Give Zanata a try. We haven't tried Zanata's in 6 yrs Last time we were there wasn't a great experience. But, with that being said THEY have redeemed themselves. Arrived around 5:30p on a Wed night No wait at all. The atmosphere has changed, looks larger than we remembered. Probably from the exit of Fatted Calf location they expanded. The server was very attentive and made sure we knew about specials. Along with a glass of Moscato, and Ultra we started with an appetizer. We ordered the bruschetta platter.Came with three pieces with varied ingredients. The bacon grape jam was our favorite. And the leafy greens came with a tomato sauce dressing. It was so favorable. We got more to go with our entrees. Hubby got Italian Chicken Alfredo with fresh asparagus. I got the Wood fired chicken pizza. Both were cooked to perfection. We ended the dinner with a flourless chocolate cake, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on side. When I tell you it melted in your mouth, it definitely melts in your mouth. We were so impressed on the changes. Keep up the great service and the amazing food. We WILL be back! read more

In from out of town and had a glitch w our car. The nice folks from the dealer (Rockwall Ford-10 stars!!) suggested we check Zanata out. Their awesome porter dropped us off and we then enjoyed a wonderful meal!! Great service too. Really bummed we didn't find this place at the beginning of our trip and not the end. We visited Zanata for a joint bday celebration! The staff was very accommodating from the beginning when making our reservation. The restaurant was super cute with a cool vibe from the decor and exposed brick. Everyone loved their food. I had the veggie plate. The veggies were cooked nicely. I asked for no cheese or dairy on my food and the risotto on my plate had both. I noticed after tasting it. I notified the waitress and they replaced it with more veggies pretty quickly. I will say that the risotto was tasty though. I also had the Riesling which was standard. Oh! I also had the Zhouse salad which was super tasty! read more

We moved to Rockwall 2.5 years ago and been to Zanatas at least 50 times. They never miss and their food is incredible. Try the Ribeye Florentine (or sub a Filet) or the Pork Chop at dinner. Every risotto is awesome but my favorite are the peppers they serve with the steak florentine! Trust me this place is unique and also offers pizzas and sandwiches! Oh and don't forget Banana Foster which is the best and perfect for table of 4! read more

Back for the third time. As usual, the crap dip (all lavosh) was delicious. Lots of crab. The sea bass was the hit of the table. Cooked well, nice sauce....just a big hit. The mahi (which came off the specials board) was a huge letdown. The fish was bland and over cooked. It came with black rice, which was okay. The kale was way too salty. There was a small amount of sauce...and the dish could've used more because of the fish lacking flavor. The lasagna was pretty good...I'd like more sauce, but the flavor was yummy. The bread with it was covered with minced garlic...no worry about a vampire attack for me! The pumpkin ravioli was also just pretty good. It was more of a sweet potato flavor and not so much pumpkin. Definitely not too heavy. The chicken that was mixed in the sauce was excellent . The bananas foster sort of let us down this time. Maybe we'd built it up in our head too much.... read more

Great service. From the time we walked in and informed of a 20 min wait. Not bad Sunday evening. And they were spot on. The Z salad was split between us. They presplit it and were very generous It was huge and really tasty. Figs and pistachios. Nice. Lasagna is different. Not your traditional drowning in plain red sauce. A nice blend of white and red. I really liked it but my wife liked my halibut with red cherries and chop veggies. We traded half way. Our guests got salmon. It was cooked through. We are a medium group but it was still moist enough. Too full for desert. But the table next to us has some and it looked good. The area is very cool. It was the worst $50 steak Diane I have ever had. It was bathed in salt. The potatoes were salty. The re-fire was without any seasoning. I suppose to make a point. The salmon was meh. My daughter ate it but said it was ok. The bread basket was under whelming but I didn't expect much for $4, but I didn't expect crackers and a slice of cold bread. I have bad better steak at saltgrass for $20. I was very disappointed that I wasted $100 on lunch. The drink was the only saving grace of the trip. It was light and fresh and very good. Our recent visit to Zanata was outstanding! It was very busy being so close to the holidays, but our server, Giselle, made us feel very welcome and cared for. We had the meatballs and special Brussels sprouts as appetizers, which were fantastic! Those sprouts are life changing. We also had two delicious pizzas which were expertly paired with an amazing wine that our server recommended. And of course we HAD to get Bananas Foster cake for dessert! My husband recently went gluten free and the GF version of the dessert is just as good as the original. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back again soon! read more

The ambiance is dimly lit & the inside has a very intimate and romantic feel to it, perfect for date night with your special someone. For food I ordered the blue crab dip, the bruschetta board and the chicken alfredo llanito dish. My boyfriend ordered their pepperoni pizza. The portion sizes are out of this world so unless you naturally eat a lot of food, two appetizers and an entree is an impossible feat. The bruschetta board was definitely my favorite out of the two appetizers, rating that an 8.4/10. All of the breads are really good separately, but do not work well together as a cohesive board (unlike Postino's if you've had them). The crab dip was a 4.3/10 - wasn't bad but wasn't great either. The pasta was a solid 7. I had to add salt and pepper for extra flavor, but enjoyed the creaminess of the alfredo & the texture you get from the al dente asparagus. Since the Alfredo sauce is homemade do know that it doesn't reheat as well the next day. All of the butter and cream separates & turns into straight oil. My boyfriend's pizza looked really good, but I was too full to try his. He said it was just ok, so I guess an average 5/10 for that. Overall, we had a great night and would gladly return. Our server was sweet and kept us updated throughout our time, as there was a bit of a wait. That's one of the main downsides to Zanata. You can't make reservations, so expect to be placed on about an hr waitlist & then wait another 40 for food. The only other complaint is it's location...though in a cute rustic part of the city, parking space directly by the restaurant is sparse so be mindful of that if you're wearing heels, handicapped etc. read more

We love this cute date night spot. Went a few days ago with the hubby. We had a short wait but after being seated we were immediately serviced and decided to order a bottle of wine based on our server's recommendations. The bottle was delicious and we split the bruschetta salad and spiked happy hour pizza. The salad is one of my all-time favorite meals. We enjoyed the pizza but I didn't realize it didn't have any marinara so I ordered a side of marinara for dipping. We had the bananas foster for dessert and my husband loved it. This place lived up to the hype. My colleague and I loved this place, and I think one of the aspects that really made it fun was sitting at the bar and watching my the cooks do their thing. They cook everything in 2 wood fire grills. 1 does all the pizzas, the other 1 does everything else, and from the bar you can see it very well and the whole operation. Anyhow, the food was awesome. I had the pork chop with lobster risotto, and broccolini. And then had the Bananas Foster for dessert. They were a 10/10z. So wonderful to reconnect with Zanata tonight, loved going to the Plano location and saddened when it closed...Tonight we were looking for mussels and remembered the ones served a Zanata, so we decided to go to Rockwall instead of our favorites in Plano or Dallas. So glad we did!!! Got there at 5:30 after reading the reviews lots of people waiting for a table at that time...were told wait was 25 minutes...worth the wait! My husband and I shared a caesar salad. He liked the chicken alfredo and I truly enjoyed the roasted halibut with sour cherry, spiced lemon & roasted vegetables, such a yummy unusual but creative combination & everything cooked to perfection. Kuddos to all the staff... besides fantastic food, and great customer service, and great ambiance, the restaurant runs like a well oiled machine. My only regret is we had not followed you sooner. We will definitely be traveling east again for sure!! read more

Food--no clue Service- if waiting for a table for 1.5hrs is the service standard, and then to be told they had table booked...really, we called and asked for a table for a party of 12 and was told first come, first serve, but table was booked!!!! From the look of things the ambiance seems great, but waiting outside in the heat for so long, and felt like the hostess/staff was being less than truthful about the wait, we left!
