Located in the heart of downtown Rockwall. Italian/Mediterranean cuisine. The accommodated our party of 18 on a Saturday night which was really nice. We were seated promptly and the server took our drink and appetizer orders shortly afterwards. Several cocktail and wine options. I got a mix of pomegranate and peach sangria which our server suggested and was so good! We ordered hummus/pimento cheese, blue crab dip and baked brie. Great appetizers for sharing. The bread that came with the hummus was warm and flavorful. My sister and I split the Z house salad and lobster ravioli. They were half person options for the salads, which I thought was nice. My sister and I ordered the lobster ravioli. It was super rich so my sister and I thought it was the perfect dish to share. My husband had the mussels appetizer with fettuccine, which was actually a very generous portion, and great to have as an entree. Probably the only slightly disappointing Andre was the play area. My son ordered it and for some reason it was very watery. I would not recommend that entree . If you're in the moos for pizza, my niece ordered pepperoni pizza and it was really delicious. For dessert, I would recommend the coconut cream pie. Not a huge portion, but definitely delicious. Pizza is really good, so good it's hard for me to try anything else. The restaurant is always freezing cold, even in 100 degree weather, so the pizza gets Cole quick! Finally ordered the famous bananas foster, and the air conditioner blew out the flame before I could even take a pic, so then the dessert was overpowered by the bitter, strong taste of alcohol, was not good at all. read more

Not a detail missed! I've heard the food here is great, but the place lived up to the hype and then some! From the friendly hostess who took my name, informed me of the wait, gave me some ideas, and then even remembered my name on the way out to say good night (who does that?!) to the manager (I assume?) Matt who checked on me multiple times, to the awesome bartenders that were friendly, informative, quick, and just all-together awesome... I ordered the crab stuffed avocados which exploded with deliciousness in my mouth. They were served with a bed of spring mix in between the halves that were a delicious compliment to the snack. I wish I had the same experience as all these good reviews, my husband and I were really looking forward to trying Zanata but it was horrible. Our appetizer (crab dip) showed up before our glasses of wine, by about 5 minutes and were ordered at the same time. We ordered a pizza and lobster ravioli, waited about 30-40 more minutes for those to show up (while other diners that sat after us were already paying their tabs) and the ravioli was burned on the bottom so much they were almost black and the pizza was cold and tasted like it had been sitting out for almost the amount of time we were waiting on it. We didn't feel comfortable eating the pizza, it was that cold, and the ravioli wasn't edible because it was so burnt and hard. The waiter did ask why we didn't eat the food when we gave him our card and we showed him, he did remove the food off our tab and only charged us for the wine, which we appreciated but unfortunately won't ever be back. read more

Would I come here again? Why yes we did! 2 night in a row on a 4 night visit! Would I get the Chicken Alfredo again? Why yes I did-2 nights in a row! Hands down the BEST Chicken Alfredo I have ever had. The sauce is so light. Pasta cooked perfectly. Chicken is lightly browned to give a little extra flavor. Bits of asparagus cooked perfectly (I kept waiting to get a hard piece-but didn't happen) The ham had a texture like bacon. The combo was perfect. This place has gone downhill. It used to be an enjoyable place, even when it was busy. Food is usually on point. But, the service has been spotty since Covid. We've had some really bad servers and some really good ones. Service is a direct reflection of the management. This has always been Zanatas problem. Their management is weak and tonight was the last straw for us. It was busy and we were seated next to the bar. The bar patrons were stacked and blocking the aisle for the servers and bumping into us ( patrons, not servers). So the manager was standing at the bar, blocking the aisle along with the bar customers and talking to a guy that was literally vaping at the bar and next to my kids. I'm sorry, but that is completely unacceptable and the manager never said anything. Well, we decided to walk out and will not be returning anytime soon. read more

This place knows how to make good food. Highly recommended. The place is located at the downtown with lots of shops around. So parking was a little tight so plan accordingly. We came here on a Monday night for a group dinner. Their Blue Crab Dip and meatballs were our appetizers and they were great. I also got the special monk fish, very well seasoned and delicious. Lunch at Zanata is always pleasing. Very busy during lunch rush but the wait was only 10 minutes and the staff did not seemed stressed. We split a Chicken Caesar salad and a pepperoni pizza. Very tasty. they split the salad for us and the pizza was pipping hot, traditional pizza sauce (not sweet) that met our expectations. Fresh ingredients cooked in a wood fired oven I believe. Only miss was croutons came on our salad - missed by the kitchen and the server. One of our favorite places when in the area. I'm sure we'll be back. read more

A must try! Food & service was on point. We attempted to get in a few weeks ago and the mob outside waiting to get in was nuts! We figured a Sunday night would be easier to get in and thought we should get there early. I called the restaurant and was told they open at 5 & there shouldn't be too much of a wait. We arrived at 5pm and there were already people seated. The hostess told me they'll open earlier if there are people waiting to get in. We were sat and by 5:15pm the place was packed! We saw a pizza on every table and many being taken out, so we figured we needed to try and glad we did! Service was very attentive and the patrons were very nice and interacting with other tables. The service was fine except that we ordered the salad with no onions and it came with onions. The server noticed that and apologized. Said the kitchen had dropped the ball. Now the quality of the meal.... Although mussels are in season, we must've gotten last years batch. Small, flavorless and very disappointing. The Z Salad with the vinaigrette had no flavor at all. We decided to order the chicken on it and it was terrible. No flavor and dry. The dressing is usually pretty good. This time. Nothing. The best part about this meal was the piece of toasted cheese bread that came with the mussels. We won't be going back. This is the 2nd time we've had subpar food. Especially for the price. Just stopped by to meet my wife and a friend for a appetizer kind of lunch. I was numb still from a dental appointment so all I could have is light apps. We came here all the time when we lived here. One of our favorite places. It's still a great place. Fire brick oven for pizzas etc. excellent apps and drinks. The chef is amazing they really do it right and have had it going on for several years now. Great menu items. Steaks, pasta pizzas. Because I just got here from the dentist I forgot to take pictures. We went during lunch to try it out. The food was good, but did not like their tea, my preference is regular tea, not flavored. My son had the mussels which he enjoyed. I had the Alfredo dish which was also good. My husband had a salad which was ok. We took a pizza home for dinner and we enjoyed it as well, just wish it had more cheese. Based on lunch 11/18/21. I love this place, but today was disappointing. I had a cup of butternut squash soup & the chicken w veggies entree. Soup was excellent, entree was awful. First time EVER the food was bad. I told the waitress the chicken meat was awful & she asked if I wanted a to go box. Yes, for a literal doggie bag. Not the right response, if someone says the meat in the dish was awful. Entree was 1 star, DON'T get the chicken w veggies. Soup was 4 star Service was 2 star Been here a lot over the summer. This place is one of our Rockwall favorites! It's popular, so it gets busy every night but they do a great job of getting you in. Parking in the square can be a little hectic, but it's well worth it. The food is great. Everything from lunch with soups, salads, sandwiches - to dinner with the pork chop, steaks, pastas, etc... (we've just about tried it all!). Visiting from Chicago! Upon arrival we were greeted by a very packed restaurant and the host, although quiet, was friendly and accommodated our party of 6. We sat down a six top in the far left of the restaurant. We were greeted by a server who took our drink order immediately. It took no time for the drinks to land on our table which was surprising given how busy they were for their lunch rush. Our server, Sarah, promptly came by and was super friendly, articulate, and educated on the menu. Although busy, she took the time to go over the menu and take our orders when we asked; although some of us were undecided on choosing, she was very patient and helped us decide through some of the best sellers on the menu. After putting in our order, she updated us 15 minutes later on where our food was at which we appreciated. What I love most is that she didn't "offer or auction off" our food, she was mindful enough to assign our meals according to our seats, so it felt very soignée. Our food was hot, and presentation was adequate. She's a great example of what a server should be. She communicated efficiently and effortlessly. Please give her a shout out! I ordered the steamed mussels with linguine ($5 extra), the broth was IMPECCABLE. The presentation was cute, as the mussels came in a steamed bowl mixed with linguine and red sausage with a piece of garlic bread on the side. It was delicious and my only critique is that it was difficult to eat the linguine, it felt like there wasn't too much pasta and to reach it I had to take out some of the shells from the mussels. No complaints though. The pepperoni pizza was delicious as well but a little on the salty side. Happy Hour pizza was phenomenal. Solid service, solid timing, great presentation, homey ambiance. Just wanted to start my review off with...YUM! Tried this place for the first time a few weeks ago with my husband and parents. It was a Monday evening around dinner time, the place was pretty crowded but we got sat right away. Our waitress (I can't remember her name but she was blonde and very attentive) was very efficient and recommended great dishes. We got the fettuccini, halibut, and 2 pizzas. We all loved our dishes and couldn't stop talking about how great everything was. Prices are reasonable and the ambiance was great. Always a great stop for Pizza or Lite Bites. We like that there is often some entertainment next door in the courtyard. I would give them 4 Stars, but got turned off by seeing them cooling wine bottles in the same ice that they use for their drinks, and scooping up ice with the drink glasses. We had a reservation and were seated a few minutes after our time. Our waiter was nice and attentive. The food was delicious! I got the pork chop and is was very good. Cooked to perfection. The lobster risotto was very good as well. I couldn't finish it all and brought some home. We also order the cookies and cream gelato and banana foster. Everyones, Everyones...... Ya'll have been sleeping on Rockwall. There's this hidden gem called Zanata right..the best thing since sliced bread, right.... I hear on the weekends there is a 1 to 2 hour wait...not my thing. Wednesday day nights seem to work best. Our waitress was the coolest chick ever. I don't remember her name but shoutout to YOU with the cool, calm, and chill attitude, rocking the low (strawberry blonde...or was it brown?) ponytail, swagger for days (I see you girl!). Our waitress brought out a complimentary fruit and cracker plate that the youngins had a "field day" over. Several minutes pass us by, and here come the New York white pie along with the shrimp n grits! It's all about the crust when it comes to pizza. The crust was soft with a slight crunch, perfect texture, and not oily or greasy at all. The shrimp n grits, flawlessly portioned, arrived with the precise amount of heat and the tender shrimp, cooked effortlessly, were big in size and oh so flavorful. The libations were a hit! The tequila apple fizz originated with a HEAVY POUR. I didn't taste much apple tang but I have faith that a bartender in there wanted me to walk out stumbling! They are not stingy with the liquor folks! We finished the meal with the Bananas Foster dessert that your kiddos will really enjoy (they light it on fire ya'll!)!
