Daughter wanted some shave ice, son wanted ice cream and I wanted boba. So this was a good place that catered to all of us. If I remember shaved ice was meh. Mango boba and ice cream ok. Located in food court first floor I believe right by food court entrance to the mall.

Must try when at Ala Moana Center. If you're craving boba tea drinks come here! My favorite is the milk tea with boba. Yum! Workers are helpful. It's located on the left as you enter the food court area from the mall. Easy to find. The counter has different menu options to choose from and creates an enticing ambiance to make you want a drink. They also have shave ice, ice cream and Dole Whip sundaes to choose from!

Refreshment in Honolulu, Hawaii... When Irene and I saw Zagu, I think we were both thinking the same thing: 1. We need something to cool down 2. We both haven't written reviews for this place... yet! LOL! #truth So, we walked over to this vendor at Makai Market Food Court, placed our orders, and picked up our treats after a few minutes. Irene got a Dole Whip and I got a Rainbow shave ice - for the colorful experience! My shave ice was ok... the guy poured the standard flavors on the ice. Nothing extra special. Service was efficient. It was just convenient! Free parking at Ala Moana Center is appreciated! ...and the air-conditioning, clean, bright environment is wonderful! Irene found a table for us to sit together. Thank you!!

What is Zagu... It's a chill place! This little kiosk in the Makai Market Food Court in Ala Moana Center is basically a cool spot as their menu is filled with all things refreshing from boba drinks, shaved ice and Dave's Ice Cream. After shopping around the mall on this hot humid day our inner body temp seem to have screamed loud enough for my curiosity to stop here as much as I've passed it without a thought numerous times in the past. Scanning the menu "Dole Whip" immediately got my attention and with lots of options "Pineapple Paradise" looked promising and asked the staff what it was and it's vanilla soft serve with pineapple chunks but asked if I could substitute it for the dole whip which he said okay...woohoo! Pineapple Paradise indeed as this cool treat hit the spot though my latest detox and eating a bit healthier got my taste buds twisted and it was bit too sweet for my personal liking and had the hardest time to finish. It still was very light and refreshing and loved that it came with some fresh fruit nothing like it and was happy to have stopped here for a treat. Thank you!

Zagu is conveniently located in the food court at Ala Moana shopping center. I can't comment on the Boba drinks or the shave ice as we only come here for the Dole whip. My daughter and I just love Dole whip, but going to the Dole Plantation out in Wahiawa is just way too far. It's nice to have a place in town that serves the authentic pineapple, Dole whip, which is a favorite of ours.

Blasé greeting. Not very welcoming or friendly. Got a large shave ice with ice cream. Ice is coarse. Strawberry, banana and watermelon syrup.

Dole Whip (small cup) - VN

The spouse and I were in the mood for some Dole Whip, which is what brought us to Zagu. I've personally never tried it before today. ATMOSPHERE: The food stand is located in the Makai Market food court inside Ala Moana Center. Seating is communal. MENU: Dole Whip, ice cream, boba drinks & shave ice. DESSERT: Dole Whip - $7.25 (small cup) Pineapple is not my favorite fruit or flavor, yet I had to try it as the name always struck my curiosity. The tartness was my biggest dislike. I envisioned it being more creamy and "vanilla-y" with a hint of pineapple, but the flavor profile was too intense for my palate. SERVICE: Very mainstream and nothing to write home about. TIP: The ice cream they serve is an old-time Hawaii brand, Dave's Ice Cream. OVERALL: I'll stick to traditional soft serve & ice cream.

Lava Flow Boba.... yum
BayArea S.

Service was meh... just standard... not rude but not friendly... however the boba might be the chewiest softest and freshest boba we've ever had... and we ordered the lava flow... which is pineapple coconut and strawberry... the best drink of our vacation... yum. We'll be back for more lava flow boba.

Zagu's is located in the Ala Moana Center's food court. They have a nice range of boba drinks to choose from as well as different boba choices. A regular size boba was almost $9 and my son ordered the cookies and cream with tapioca boba. He really enjoyed it. The server was nondescript and seemed more automaton than service-oriented, but he got us what we ordered and it didn't take too long to get it. It was an average experience which is why I gave it three stars.

On my recent trip to Honolulu; I got to check out Zagu. Zagu is inside the Makai Market Food Court in Ala Moana and can easily be spotted and it is located fairly close to the entrance of the food court. I found it to be the perfect location as people tired from all the shopping and walking are sure to welcome a tasty cool treat. They've got two sizes for shave ice; a small for $6.49 and a large for $7.25. One also has the options of adding condensed milk for 69cents or vanilla ice cream for $1.50. For each shave ice; one has the option to choose 3 flavors or get their classic rainbow. Flavor options include Strawberry, Banana, Vanilla, Mango, Pineapple, Pina Colada, Watermelon, Lychee, Raspberry, Grape, Lime, Passion Orange, Cotton Candy and Coconut. I chose to get the small classic Rainbow. It was definitely one of the prettiest shave ice. It however not only looked good but tasted good as well. It indeed was refreshing and perfect for a hot Hawaii day. I got it with condensed milk and I would highly recommend adding this. The condensed milk adds a creamy consistency and a nice sweet touch. Overall I enjoyed my shave ice here and was happy to have had the chance to check Zagu out.

Service is quick and easy. Their Dole whip had good texture and tasted great! Located in in the food court at a stand alone kiosk, they also have blended bobas.

I got to try out their large rainbow shave ice for $7.96 tax included and it was good. I really got to enjoy it. The servers were nice and couldn't ask for any better. The service and shave ice and atmosphere were all good so I am very satisfied.

Need a boba fix? Check out this cute little kiosk inside Ala Moana food court! We got the Honeydew boba and Mango, pineapple, orange with lychee jelly. I chose the honeydew but honestly the MPO was our favorite! Service was quick and drinks were delicious!

Great service. Easy to read menu. Nice and clean. I always get the Ube boba or the dole whip.

These fried, sugar-coated dough balls, often filled with custard or haupia, are beloved for their fluffy texture and association with tradition, especially "Malasada Day" (Fat Tuesday). And Leonard's Bakery malasadas are popular in Hawaii because they are served fresh, hot, and fluffy, establishing the Portuguese doughnut as a staple island treat since 1952. Founder Leonard Rego pioneered commercializing them, creating a cult following for the crisp-on-the-outside, doughy-on-the-inside treats. There's nothing like a nice, hot, and fresh malasada. At $2.20 each, there's just no point resisting. Twinsie "Auntie" Nadine C. dragged me here, told me where to take the Instagram shot, and the correct stance to tear into these pillowy fried dough balls. Yum.

However, there are many alternative malasada purveyors throughout Honolulu, so I depended on local vloggers to find the best ones. This one popped up often on YouTube, and as luck would have it, we were dining at The Pig & The Lady on the next block. How calorifically convenient. We took the opportunity to stop by for a pre-dinner snack since they closed at 6PM. It's a cute shop with multiple sweets including quite a selection of housemade ice cream and delectable mouthfuls called Cake Bombs (Photo 10). We decided we would be good and ordered one unfilled Malasada each. Dusted with various sugar flavors, they were just $2.65 a piece. I went for the Coffee, while Jamie chose the daily special, Cinnamon (Photo 6). They were soft and tasty, quite comparable to Leonard's albeit a tad smaller. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing since we had dinner ahead of us. However, we let temptation get the best of us and shared a $5.50 slice of the Ube Haupia Mac Nut Bar, a yummy combination of sweet potato and ube topped with haupia (coconut milk pudding) on a macadamia nut crust (Photo 9). Truth be told, it stole the show from the malasadas. This is clearly one of those places that feel like they're too good to serve you if you're not meeting their aesthetic. Yeah, very Beverly Hills (attempt, but likely wouldn't do well there), kinda "clicky" like vibe, snooty, haughty seeming like vibe, maybe a lil tad bit stuck up, and for the tiny little portion and "big show" , I probably would have liked it somewhat, but also would have felt guilty for paying a fortune to be treated that way lol This place likely won't be around in a year, by the vibe I'd say it's slow times (wonder why). I know I will, happy to spend even more down the road- so many to choose from, trust me this place ain't unique in my experience.
