Located in the Ala Moana food court, this little hut probably has one of the best coconut bubble drinks I've ever tasted. It's powder based but they blend it so well that there's no grainy texture or funny after-taste. Since I'm not really a huge fan of the bubbles, I usually get double crystals (not really sure what these things are but they taste like pineapple). Unfortunately, the prices are ridiculous. I get that they're located in a mall and rent at Ala Moana is fairly high but $5 for a SMALL bubble drink?! Meeh. It was just OK. This shop is located in the food court at Ala Moana Shopping Center. It was quite expensive, and not that flavorful. I honestly don't remember the price, but I remember thinking that I could get better for that price. We ordered the acai bowl and coconut bubble tea. I'm really addicted to acai bowls. This one met my expectations. It was simply delicious. My SO liked his coconut bubble tea too. The one that prepared our food was very precise and quick. I had a really good experience. Would definitely come back whenever I want another acai bowl. Thanks! When a bubble drink cost almost as much as a plate lunch you really would want to believe it would be the bees knees of tapioca & smoothie perfection. Not the case in this one. Service is a hit or miss, mostly highschool teens that are concerned more with texting than customer service...they can take forever to make a drink. The only pro i could think of was the fact that theres a bit of ice chunks and weirdly enough, i love to chew on ice. It was cash only last time i went a few months ago and it was around $6. I was low on energy and hecka thirsty so I just stopped by here for a boba/bubble drink. I got a honeydew melon which was really good. There was a line when I came in. I guess people really like their stuff. They also sell shave ice and other stuff. The service and speed of delivery of the drink is pretty good. It's conveniently located right in the heart of the Makai food court. I do not think you can really miss it because the kiosk does have some distinctive colors surrounding itself. I was craving boba after lunch, and noticed Zagu on my way out of the Ala Moana mall food court. I decided to stop by and get a honeydew--for lack of a better word--slushy with boba. Sadly, I wasn't such a fan--the honeydew flavor was a bit too strong, too sweet and too artificial. The boba weren't bad--and I was pleased they didn't get hard and overly gummy in the cold ice. But they didn't have much flavor themselves (or maybe it was overwhelmed by the honeydew mix?) and were merely average in my book. I would have been a little bit more forgiving of my review . . . if I hadn't paid over $7 for it! Wow, this seemed a little steep for the quality of the drink I got. Likewise if the service had been friendly, I would have been more forgiving of the price tag, but that wasn't the case here either. Being the bubble tea goddess I can say that for a mall kiosk, it was quite tasty. I knew the flavors would be kinda odd (all poweder based) so I ordered coconut which usually decent in any scenario. They don't do anything over ice, everything is blended as a shake but it quenched my thirst after a long day of surfing! The milk tea flavor wasn't bad either-not the best but it's ok. Fast way to cool down located in the food court of the Ala Moana Mall. Other, than cooling down I see there is nothing special about this place. They do get your drink out fast but the quality is blah! They skimp on the boba as well and used a syrup for flavor. I've been pampered by the real deal places in Southern Cali for Boba. Love this place! I surprised to find a bubble tea place that actually had pretty amazing bubble tea. I only had the taro bubble tea and it was easy enough to say... awesome. The pearls are soft just as it should be. I know plenty of other places where the pearls are hard. That is just not how it should be! Gave away someones order to me because that person was gone for a few minutes, and came back a minute later saying she had been waiting a while. tried to refuse, they said no. Not to mention the cashier looks exactly like a Mii. UPDATE: right after I got back to my hotel, I got a terrible stomach ache. I ended up taking an enormous dump that was actually very bad diarrhea. I am 99% confident that it was because of some bad ingredient (probably the water) in the food that they served. Service was extremely lackluster on Saturday (8/30) night. Zagu booth was staffed by 3 young "men", then 2 decided to go on a "date" break together. When they returned, one decide to enter the booth by hopping over instead of using the back entrance. Problem was this boy's hop was more like a "prance" and his dirty sneakers landed squarely on the counter where customers normally receive their desserts. Conveniently located in the Ala Moana food court, the bubble drinks here are perfectly blended with soft tapioca and IMO the flavors seem to be more on the sweeter side. I like the simple menu that is easy on the eyes. Too bad its cash only and expensive compared to other venues. read more

After having read the reviews, I decided to see for myself what it's all about. So I got the purple yam (?) bubble shake. I was surprised to discover that it's actually was very enjoyable. The consistency and flavor was right up there that I went back the following week. Honestly, this is one of the handful of real good boba places in the island. I order the honeydew melon bubble drink when we come here. It tasted the same as always and the tapioca pearls went nice with the drink . . . and I had my usual brain freeze. Huns got the strawberry-banana smoothie . . . he said it was "okay". Service wasn't the best . . . mediocre, to say the least. And price is a bit high just for a bubble drink and smoothie . . . If you want to experience shave ice, don't go to Zagu. They serve snow cone, not shave ice. I constantly crave shave ice in Michigan, and yet have to find any store there that claims to have shave ice to serve shave ice instead of snow cone. In Hawaii, I thought it would be safe to assume everyone knows what a shave ice is, and would not give me a snow cone when the sign says shave ice, big mistake! If you are looking for shave ice, go elsewhere. If you just want a snow cone with mediocre syrup, this is your place. read more
