I have had a couple of repairs done here recently and was so impressed by the service I received, at a very reasonable price. AB is such an honest and genuinely sincere person who treats you more like a friend than a customer. I encourage you to check out the services he provides, from repairs to inspections and oil changes. I sure am glad I did. read more

Small, local shop with two honest guys who've been in the business for a long time. My only complaint is that their reputation is so good they're booked out for weeks during the busy time of the year! read more

Repeat customer made today... I took our car in for an oil change, inspection, and brake check. I knew for a fact it would need new brakes and had just been waiting... I found the owner to be responsive (answered phone before opening hours and said to come on in--understand that this won't always happen..), helpful, clear cut with the printed estimate (no fast verbal run down), and very reasonably priced (I had reliable benchmarks). I would highly recommend Zaf's shop and am glad we found him again. We will go back again. I personally enjoyed my time with the owner. Looking back at the reviews I saw they were all very old and from the old location, so I felt the need to post a current review. Suite J is towards the back and is no longer by a Panera. Anyway, my heart goes out to business owners at the mercy of people who go around looking for 1 star reviews to give and have absolutely no patience or compassion. Anyone can have an off day, and I am firmly against leaving scathing 1 star reviews for any business. THIS IS THEIR LIVELIHOOD you are cavalierly messing with!!! You don't need to leave your car there if you don't want it serviced! Everyone's experience can be different. People must take kind consideration in what they review and always respectfully craft them. read more

I have used ZAF auto for years. I have always found them to be honest about my car's issues and very reasonable in their prices. On occasion, it has taken longer than I initially anticipated, but never too long. I trust them enough to have my work's fleet serviced by ZAF. I have rarely tried others who exaggerate the extent of repairs, frustrated, I then took my vehicle to ZAF for a second opinion and found my frustration in the other car care people justified. Thank you ZAF for your honesty and continuity. Five Stars for ZAF Auto Repair. read more

These are a great bunch of guys. Honest as the day is long. I have dealt with them for years...when they were at the Kmart shopping area in Herndon and now with the forced relocation to Sterling off on 606. I have dealt with multiple different repair shops in the area and I used to be in the car business. So I know when someone is telling me the truth and someone is feeding me a line. These guys have been straight up every time. I have shopped their prices on occasion just to be sure. Great people great service ...hard to get there but well worth it. read more

I've used this place several times over the years, and they've always been great. I never felt pressure to do any work, and they even told me work didn't need to be done that other places had suggested. I did a price comparison on time between them and another place for similar work, and they were way cheaper. Overall, a big recommend from me. read more

Came here on a recommendation from a friend and so glad I did. Part of my fender and entire plastic front portion under my car was hanging off scrapping the roadway. When I dropped off my car, everyone was really nice and laid back. We even exchanged a few jokes like we've known each other for years, which always is a good sign for me and my sarcastic personality. When I came to pick up my car, I asked what I owed and didn't believe it when they said $30. I think I might have found a repair place worth coming back to! read more

I ve been going to Zaf for years and I do see loyal customers coming back. They are quick and explain things to you so that you understand. They also give you a timeframe of other parts that needs to be replaced. I highly recommend you giving AB (the owner) a shot. Shuttle service available if you drop by early in the AM depending on location, call and ask first! You can shop and grab something to eat at the same time, amazing group of workers they have there! read more

I initially was happy with my service, but after leaving their lot I noticed a creaking sound and slight unevenness. After work, I went to the nearest honda dealership to see what was up with my car. Turns out that not only did these guys miss fixing one tire, they also screwed up fixing the other (actually made it worse) and left the parking brake on (which on my vehicle is basically hidden from view). After all was said and done, the dealership was significantly cheaper than Zaf. I would suggest going somewhere else, you may think you are getting a good deal but you will be paying the difference down the line. On a side note, if you do go here, don't use the door labelled entrance, apparently that's a deadend. read more

HI , I recently got my 2009 nissan sentra repaired. I was suppose to replace both the control arms in the front along with the strut on the left side front tire. I was given an estimate of around and above 900 by other people. The technician who worked on my car was Kyle. I got charged a lot less than that and i had some missing parts and he did not charge me a lot for that. On the final price he gave me a discount on the labor. I got an awesome deal. The important thing is they know a lot about cars, reliable and economic fixes instead of costly replacements and they are very good at explaining everything to you before they work on it.The other important advantage is they can work with parts that the customer buys online (where we can get a lot cheaper than most dealers sell). My suggestion, take your car to this place get a list of parts that need to be replaced and get an estimate for labor and then get your car fixed. Vamsi read more

Called on Monday to confirm they did inspection end emission testing. Confirmed opening at 8am and they could get me out quick if I was first/second in line. Arrive @7:55 and someone shows up at @8:05 to open door. Ask about inspection and was told, our guy is not here yet but if he shows up we can do it. If you want to wait for 20 minutes to see if he shows up. If not you might want to try again tomorrow. Right, I'll stand around waiting to see if your inspection guys going to show up to work and if not try again the next day. read more

Thanks for getting my tires installed on a Saturday. Staff is nice and professional. Car seems to be running smoothly. Went to the closest mall Dulles Town Center while waiting for the repairs. read more

This is one of the most honest and efficient mechanics in the area. It has happened many times that they have suggested me to use a low cost option or not to repair something when it was not best to my financial interest considering the age of the car. Whenever they repair something, they repair it good. I have referred many of my friends and they are equally happy with the service. read more

Hands down, the best mechanics in NoVA. Been going here since they were in Herndon and have never been disappointed with the service. They thoroughly explain what's wrong with the car (if anything) and will tell you how it happened without ever over-selling. They've even driven my car around with me in it to diagnose an issue. They're the most honest, hard-working mechanics I've ever met and recommend anyone in the VA go to them! read more

Quick and efficient - patched my tire up in no time flat. AB was extremely helpful.

I finally found an honest mechanic. I've been taking both my cars here since 2009 (four years) and have always had a good experience. Two instances stand out that merit specific mention; in both instances, they could have come up with excuses to keep the car longer and charge more money. The first was when it was leaking oil. This would make any car owner cringe. I brought it in early on a Saturday morning, and had it back within an hour. Kyle (super nice guy) said it was a simple oil filter change...$10. They could have kept the car longer and come up with all kinds of things they had to do, and I would've been none the wiser. The second instance was when my wife's car was making a really loud vibrating sound. My wife brought it in first thing in the morning, with both kids in tow, and she was out in 15 minutes and PAID NOTHING. It was the heat shield and one of the owners that works there, AB (short for Abdullah), put on a clamp and didn't charge anything! Again, he could have kept it longer and came up with who knows what. AB is also super nice and very friendly. These guys get it, they are honest. They know that being honest will keep customers coming back for more services. I have never/never had any issues with any inspections, tire rotations, tire installations, oil changes, or anything else there. The best part is I never/never have to make an appointment. They always work me into the schedule and have it back in a timely manner. Now, they don't have a fancy waiting area with free coffee, TV, magazines, etc.. and it can get hot in there in the Summer time, so if you're a prima donna, this place isn't for you. But to me, having the waiting area directly in front of the pits demonstrates that they have nothing to hide and that you can watch the entire service if you want. Trust me, I am an extremely picky person and have high standards for customer service. I can't speak as to whether they can tackle more complex problems, but for everything else, these guys are great and I highly recommend them. read more

Recently had brake work done (rotors/pads) at Zaf Auto Repair. The customer service was excellent and the owner was very helpful and knowledgeable. He seemed to know everyone they came in and out of his shop. If customer loyalty is any indication of the service they provide, this shop is top notch. read more

Very pleasant staff. I have had some poor car repair experiences in the area and its nice when you find a place with helpful and knowledgeable people who know what they are doing and seem happy to help you as well as having fair prices. read more

Honest with no gimmicks. I've used these guys for about 5 years now with no problems.

We've been taking our cars to ZAF for 6-7 years. In that time they've consistently been kind. I try to call ahead a schedule an appointment, but many times I've had a car (we own 3) die and just had it towed in. They are HONEST to a fault and reasonable rates. The parking in their new place is limited. No frills, no waiting room, but they fix our cars right the first time or they make it right! Only had that happen once when a hose was defective from manufacturer, but the owner, AB, and lead mechanic, Kyle, made it right. I live close to the old shop but followed them gladly. read more

The mechanic here was very nice and extremely helpful. I went as a walk-in with an emergency tire issue and they were able to repair the issue and get me a new tire that day. The pricing was not bad but really what would make me come back was the staff, they were honest, helpful and friendly. read more

Great service within a reason time and price. Came here for a quick battery replacement, and was in and out within 20 minutes! Would definitely recommend this shop to my family and friends. read more

I was very impressed by Zaf's. Originally I went to VA tire and Auto and was told the work required to make my car pass inspection would cost me over $1000- then a friend told me about Zaf's. Zaf's completed the work for $820 and even installed a new windshield wiper on my car for no charge. The service rep, Kyle, was very responsive and accommodating. I needed to run errands during the time they had my car and they were able to loan me a car (no charge) so I could continue my day as scheduled. I highly recommend using them and will continue to use them for service in the future. read more

I've been here for state inspections/emissions and have always had fast service. I came here recently for a possible exhaust leak but they couldn't find it and I didn't get charged. Amazing customer service to boot. I really like the shop owner and always feel taken care of. read more

Do NOT try to get your car inspected here. I tried to get my car inspected 3 times, calling ahead every single time to make sure their inspector was in, and each time I showed up the same guy in the shop told me the inspector wasn't in. When I became irritated and told him I had called ahead each time to make sure the inspector was in, he laughed in my face and said "Really?" like it was some funny joke. Talk about rude... My boyfriend tried to get his car inspected here about one month later, again the same deal - called ahead to make sure the inspector was there, only to show up and find out he wasn't. If you need to get your car inspected I highly recommend South Lakes Sunoco Service Station. They are very efficient and polite, and their inspector is available 6 days a week. read more

I was here last week. Mr. AB told me that we will do inspection free for you as you came from some one who refeered you. After the inspection of vehicle he charged 45$ to me and when i asked why you are charging now he told me that generally i charged 90$ but i am charging 45$. One of his assoicate told me earlier that we charge 45$ and if you will do repair work more than 100$ we will adjust the 45$ on that. After inspection he told me 600$ to repair some stuff and when i asked to adjust the amount AB told no we do not have scheme for this work. Before inspection he told me that he will give the details of all the 100 point inspection list after the inspection he told that is not required. He is changing his statement always. I really felt bad. I hope these people shout treat the customer in fair way. read more

I never wrote a review on anything till now. But this experience of ours with this place changed my mind. I have been a regular with both my cars to ZAF Auto. Although I never had to replace any parts. I think whatever they did were just labor and I felt they over rated their job and charged more. Since I work in DC and dont drive, my wife who doesnt know much about cars except drive to point to point on local roads. I asked her to get my car safety inspection done. This place doesnt take American Express. My wife thought she had cash to pay him found out that she didnt have enough money to pay for safety inspection. Zaf auto owner who is also a mechanic told my wife that she needs to replace wiper blades or else he would reject the inspection. Mine is 2004 Acura MDX. Since my wife didnt know much about cars and thinking rejection means that we will no longer be able to drive the car she said ok. But when she returns home I didnt want that cheap overpriced wipers on my car and wanted them to be taken off so that I can put on good wipers from costco or auto zone way cheaper than the one we got. He refused to take it off and troubled my pregnant wife asking her that he would not release the car unless we pay for the wipers. I WILL NOT suggest this place to anyone. He treated my wife who is 8 months pregnant very rudely. Stay away from this place. read more

Zaf is the most honest auto repair place Ive seen. They take time to access your problem and the fix isnt alway replace the whole thing. They often try to repair parts and when something is replace, its done reasonably. I always take all my cars there read more

The owner is a really good person. He won't rip you off and has many, many years of experience with foreign and American cars. I've used him several times for my annual VA inspections and my 20 year old son recently took his 95 Toyota Avalon there for a check engine light. I was curious if he would be fair with my son and he was more than fair. Only charged a small fee to look at the car and explained in great detail what the problem was and cost it would be. They did extensive repairs on a young co-worker's car for a very fair price. They don't take advantage I guess is what I am trying to say. They are a small shop in an unusual location (using KMart's old tire center in Herndon), but I'd recommend them with confidence! read more

I will have to change my review of Zaf Auto. I thought they were honest people, but it turns out that they have been dishonest with me and people that I know who go to Zaf for their auto repairs. My car went in and only needed new brake pads and when it came out, the brakes make noise, and now for some reason I need a new power steering pump which will cost over $400. Zaf Auto also did work on my fathers car which needed a part replaced. He brought the part in and they stated that they will install this part. The truth is, they did not use this part at all, instead, they used the same worn out part and the problem he had with his car before is back. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!!! read more

I don't want to give 1 point, but after my latest experience I couldn't give 5 stars anymore. We have been to ZAF I think 5-6 times with both of our cars. The last 3 times it was because of a starting problem with my car. They told me every time they fixed it and I paid about 650$ for all repairs. They switched parts but still after a couple of days the same problem pops up and I have to get towed...I'm really pissed. If you don't know the problem then be honest. Don't switch parts just to make money !!! read more

Very unprofessional and rude staff, I was very disappointed. The diagnostic of the issue was incorrect and misleading. I took my vehicle to "Zaf Auto Repair" due to an issue with the heating system inside the salon of the car . After diagnostic was complete, I was informed that the thermostat had to be replaced. I agreed to proceed with the repair considering the estimated cost and paid the fee upon completion of the job. A week later, I brought my car back to the shop due to the same issue - the heater inside the vehicle (in the salon of the car) was not working - it was blowing cold air as it was before the repair. "Zaf Auto Repair" performed diagnostic second time and informed me that water pump had to be replaced as well (in addition to the replaced thermostat)! This was a new estimate with a new part which was not identified during the first diagnostic. Due to the mistake in the original diagnostic I was misinformed about the repair and the total cost that required to fix the issue. "Zaf Auto Repair" refused to refund the original repair even though it did not fix the issue. read more

It is rare for me to give any business 5 stars. It means I received "royal" treatment. Car problem: The starter motor in my 1996 Toyota Corolla was defective. I got an estimate from my regular repair shop and was not at all happy with the quote. I checked the internet for a price range and found out "my repair shop" was taking me for granted as a customer. or a ride to the bank. I "Googled" to see what repair shops were in the Reston/Herndon area. I live in Reston. I read all reviews and ZAF,s reviews stood out. 5 stars all the way except for 2.Hmmm! I called ZAF Auto and spoke to Kyle the Owner/Manager who gave me an estimate for the repair. "THE PRICE WAS RIGHT". Monday 2/22/16 I took my car in for the repair and requested if I could get a ride home (3 miles) in my car, Kyle volunteered. He said I'll call you when the repair's done. 4 hours later he calls me and says, "it's done", I'll pick you up. All I said was "That's Great". Kyle the owner is indeed the most amiable person I've met in a long time. ZAF Auto Repair is my auto place from now, REALLY. Mervyn M read more

Stay away from this place! My 07 Prius needed throttle body service. Not only that they charged 100$ more than dealer, they could not fix the fix the problem. In fact, my car's performance is worse than before. In addition, check engine light appears now after the service. I took my car 3 times to their workshop, but they could not figure out the problem. After spending 250$, all original issues are still there in addition to a new check engine light problem. Now I have to take my car to the dealer to get it fixed. Zaf autos is extremely irresponsible. They don't even bother to call you when your car is ready for pick up. On one occasion, when I reached their workshop at 6:00 pm, it was closed. I had to call my friend to drop me to my home and had to make arrangements to reach to work next morning as I was with out my car. My advise is to stay away from that place, because in the beginning, they will make false claims that they can fix your car, but once they earn you business, they will not honor their claims. Workshop owner now says that their is no guarantee that service can fix the problem read more

Terrible customer service and they quote you on cheap brand parts and charge you for the original part prices. I went there to replace my tires for my Honda Civic. The quote was $120 per including mounting and balancing. When I went to pick it up, they did not put on the brand of tires they took off but the cheapest tires you can buy, which you can purchase at Sears or Walmart for $45. When I questioned the owner about the prices he said "you just dont want to pay that price because you are cheap." I asked him to put back the tires I came in with, he said that was fine since he would charge me $18 per tire times 8 since he put the new tires on and now he had to put the old tires back. I thought that was absurd. He told me to leave by saying..... " I don't need cheap customers like you." They also changed my oil and put regular oil instead of synthetic and charge me for synthetic. I will never set my foot into this establishment ever again. I encourage you to do the same. read more
