I chose Craftsman because the review is pretty good. My appointment is at 10:00 for an alignment. I arrived around 9:50, the gentleman at the front said I can come back around 10:50. Now it's 10:58 and the car is still outside and the work has not started. They said my car is next, but they had to complete the one before me. Apparently they only have one alignment bay, so if they overbooked or there's a problem I'm stuck. Now it's 11:00 and the car is finally moved into the bay. Hope their alignment job is a good one since there's no way for me to judge. Update: to my surprise, at about 11:15 the store manager came and gave me the report, apologized, and said he won't charge me for today's work. For that reason I changed my review from 2 star to 4 star, as an appreciate to his effort. read more

I want to start by saying that the staff here are genuinely kind, professional, and clearly want to help their customers. I truly believe they made a good-faith effort to diagnose and resolve the issue with my truck, even though it ultimately wasn't fully fixed. I brought my Ford F-150 in due to ongoing idling issues and warning lights. The team identified a misfire and completed several services, including repairs related to that diagnosis, as well as routine maintenance items such as a transmission flush, transfer case service, and a battery replacement. While none of those services were unnecessary given the truck's mileage (around 118k), they did not resolve the original problem I brought the truck in for. After picking the truck up, things seemed fine for a few days, but the same warning indicators returned while driving, including an orange wrench icon and a "hill start assist not available" message--issues I had experienced before the visit and believed were addressed. I contacted the shop, and they were very accommodating, offering to bring the truck back in and continue diagnosing the issue at no additional charge. They even had a Ford technician come out to update the PCM software, and I was not charged for this follow-up visit, which I appreciated. They also included a complimentary synthetic oil change, which they did not have to do. Unfortunately, after a few more days, the same symptoms returned, along with cruise control issues and rough idling while stopped in drive. At that point, I was preparing for a long drive back to school and decided not to bring the truck back again. The staff assured me it would make the trip safely, which it did. Once settled, I eventually took the truck to a Ford dealership. They diagnosed the issue quickly and determined that the entire problem stemmed from a faulty brake pedal sensor. The total repair cost was just under $300, and it fully resolved all the issues I had been experiencing. While it was frustrating to spend over $2,200 without getting the root cause fixed, this review is not meant to criticize the staff or their intentions. Rather, I want to share my experience so others are informed. If you have a complex or vehicle-specific electronic issue and it isn't resolved early on, it may be worth taking the vehicle directly to the dealership for that brand to save time and money. The team here was courteous, responsive, and well-meaning throughout the process--I just wish the final outcome had matched the effort. read more

Decided to try them and was that a great decision! I was greeted cheerfully as I entered. Checking in was quick and my vehicle was taken immediately into the shop. The work was completed in 30 minutes. Other services were offered which were found during the vehicle inspection. No pressure to do the other services. Took our Nissan in for routine oil change and tire rotation. Had an appointment at 9:00 and they took the car in at 9:10 - out by 9:40 ... so 30 minutes which is reasonable. When searching for a new place for service I found Craftsman and read through the reviews - there are always some with complaints. The total charge was $95 which again was reasonable for the work that was done. Natalie was at the front desk to greet us and check us out. You all were going to charge me $180 for an alignment. I ended up taking it to a place in Sterling and had the alignment done for $125. And asking if I am sure I had the right location? I went in to ask, but they do not have one for customer use, but the gentleman said they would do it for me if I pulled up to first bay. I did and he came right out and did all 4 tires right away. These guys were easy to work with and communicated clearly on the problems. Do I think other places could have charged less? Yes, but probably not with the same quality service or short turnaround as well. So far, my car sounds like it is back to normal after getting new brake pads and rotors. I went in for safety inspection and they said I needed new rotors, pads, and 1 caliper. They failed my safety for the headlights and brakes being unsafe. My foggy headlights have been the same for a long time and always passed at various shops being in identical condition. They have a note saying they do it by the book. Which is good for shop so they can sell you repairs. The brakes needed to be done. But they quoted me at $1,900 for 4 rotors, pads, and 1 caliper. I went to Great Falls auto, where they take care of people, and did it for under $1,500. They have been in business for over 15 years and always do good honest work. Not sure how there is such a huge difference. This is a 2012 Camry, not a Maserati. These people price gouge. Sure their work may be great, but they rip you off. read more

Also, they provide a link where they list out all of the parts you need changed/may need changed in the future for the general health of your car (with picture proof). I felt bad about getting there so close to closing but I was in a pinch. The Craftsman's team jumped into action. Simply amazing and up front service. I set an appointment for some major repairs that I was expecting. I dropped the car and they took me home. A few hours later I got a detailed report on their app with pictures of the problems and the estimated cost followed by a phone call for context. I was able to approve the repairs on their app and away they went. Car was ready the next day and they promptly picked me up at home. Hands down the best car service experience I have ever had. I mean I had quite a bit of work done that included replacing brakes and rotors, steering, oil leak, oil changed, inspection to name a few which isn't cheap anywhere you go in this economy. Regardless of having to spend some coin to get my car fixed the big deal is I walked out with a smile. The technicians and front office folks are genuinely friendly and gave that little bit of extra pizazz during my transaction that will make me keep coming back. This locally owned business (not a big box(franchise) is on its way to the top if they keep this up. Customer service is the hardest job in the world and they made it look easy. Previously had a good experience with a minor issue with one vehicle so I took another vehicle there for basic safety inspection. I was told that the car failed inspection and it would cost over $3,000 to remedy. They provide small grainy photos to "prove" the diagnosis but to an untrained person, the photos are useless. I took the vehicle to an another shop, provided the failed inspection report for them to confirm/verify and it passed inspection and needed none of the work that Craftsman said it needed.
