It was two days before the end of the month & my vehicle inspection sticker was ready to expire. I met John at the service desk at Craftsman Auto Care. John was very professional & set me right up for my vehicle inspection. I really liked that they schedule your vehicle like an appointment, where other inspection stations, you pull into a vehicle waiting line, where you park your car behind the one in front of you, as the cars move along, slowly, you have to start your car an inch forward, ypu can be stuck in your car for 3, or even 4 hours. This was a nice change! Drop off our car and go on with your day. I could have recieved a ride to wherever I needed in the area, but decided to stick around. John said it would be 1.5-2 hour wait. No problem, I'll hang out. Which I usually don't like to do.. but I'll tell you why I did. The company shop is well lit, exceptionally clean and had some nice creature comforts, not the hard plastic chairs you usually find, but a couple of love seats, and very comfortable chairs. The obligatory coffee machine (Keurig) , hot water (for Tea) or cold water. A very Clean restroom and they have a friendly atmosphere among the staff & customers. I also was pleasantly surprised at how clean & organized the bays were. Not the greasy, dusty, dirty bays you usually see in other auto shops. Not only did they complete the vehicle inspection but also provided a free diagnostics, complete with photos of areas of concern on my vehicle, but also recommendations for future service, where either I could do the repair or they would schedule it & complete the job. I also recieved an electronic copy for my files. I will be coming back for more than my vehicle inspection sticker!! I received more value from Craftsman Auto Care than the cost of the inspection! I requested quotes for the recommended repairs from Honest Tom's after I failed my safety inspection. They were one of the first to respond, quick, and thorough. I was able to schedule an appt the day of for a FREE consultation/diagnosis! This never happens anymore -- they charge you to get in the door. I told them that my brakes/rotors needed fixed and they did a full work up to make sure nothing else was going on. They did find a few other things that were cautiously problematic (and showed pictures for proof and understanding), but confirmed that I should definitely do the rear brakes and flush the fluid. They were very honest when I requested a wheel alignment as well -- they said that wouldn't be a good idea because with the suspension aging (my car is a 2008), the wheel would just slip right back out of place. I also felt that they didn't consider taking advantage of me not knowing much about mechanics or cars, so my respect for them is super high. Once everything was diagnosed, they were able to fix my brakes that day and I got a call right around the time that was estimated to pickup my car. When I drove home, everything felt much more stable and comfortable. They did a great job and I was able to pass my inspection. The pricing was extremely fair (in fact, cheaper than the original quote) and I will keeping Craftsman Auto as my go to auto shop! read more

Had a great experience at craftsman aito care yesterday. When i was leaving to go to my appointment for my tire, the tire that had a leak went flat. So I had to call them to let them know I had to pop the spare on so I will be late. The guy was super polite and said take your time we are open till 4. So when i got there about an hour late from my appointment, i walked through the door and was immediately great by three people and "glad you made it in ok". My car was in the garage within 3 min of me parking. I dont think I have ever experinced that and they were able to repair the tire and saved me from having to get 2 new tires! All within 50 minutes from pulling in to leaving. Side Note, the main reason I am writing the review is they helped this woman who's tired fell off while driving because of another shop's alleged negligence. Because the other shop was most likely responsible for the repairs, they probably were not going to make any money off the help they were providing. But they were very caring and took the time to walk to woman through the process of what needs to be done and it really showed the good chararcter of the office. I've been there three times so far; for a mysterious noise I couldn't locate, an oil change, and most recently a wheel replacement and inspection. Each visit has been a great experience from start to finish. I just needed a quick leaky tire repair and found my next car service center! Was very impressed with Stephen and the gang here. They are proud of the company and the ownership and it shows, they all asked me how I was doing, offered coffee, sang carols with the radio... kind of a Baileys Savings and Loan of auto repair :) Conveniently located across from a gas station tire fill station, one of the fellows went out in the sub-zero temps this am to help someone who was having a tough time with the self-fill, no charge. In addition to fixing my tire quickly and at a reasonable cost (and adding the culprit screw to the "what was in my tire?" bucket), Stephen researched the CarFax report on my newly-purchased used car and let me know what services I'll need next. Yeh, yeh, they're just looking for business, but this was something that the auto dealership didn't tell me last week.... Craftsman Auto just opened in Reston, and they are already an outstanding addition to the community. On my way to work this morning, my coolant light came on, so I stopped by to see if they could take a quick look. Even though my Land Rover is still under warranty with the dealership, Greg immediately offered to check it to make sure nothing serious was happening. Within fifteen minutes, they had inspected the car, topped off my fluids, and assured me everything was safe to drive. They didn't charge me anything and even recommended that if a serious issue ever comes up, I should go directly to the dealership to protect my warranty. That level of honesty and customer-first service is rare. From the moment I walked in, everyone introduced themselves and made me feel genuinely welcome. I only came in to get a tire checked that onstar had signaled to be needing air. I was greeted immediately by multiple employees. After explaining my concern, I was invited to sit down and my car was immediately taken into the repair area. All my tires were checked, inspected for damage or leaks, inflated to the proper pressure and reconfigured so that the computer would reflect the actual level of concern. My car was then taken for a test drive by the mechanic to be sure all four tires were performing properly. I was thanked for coming in and sent on my way, no charge. Excellent customer service. This was my first visit to Craftsman Auto Care but not my last. Excellent service and staff. Went in for an oil change and inspection. Failed inspection because one tire had a damaged sidewall. John said the tires look pretty new and thought there might be a warranty on them. He suggested that I go back to where I bought them to check. I did, there was a warranty but it had expired. I went back to Craftsman and they are replacing the tire at a lower cost. read more
