Unrealistic expectations. I called for a state inspection and the mechanic who answered the phone said I have to be there no later than 7:30AM. He said anything after that time is a drop off. So if you get there by 7:45 in the morning, they will keep your car the entire day. There are a bunch of other places around with better customer service than this. Given the amount of negative reviews, I'm convinced the only positive reviews are from his family members or friends but not real customers. read more

I called here on a Saturday and was busy. So I called back Monday. The man told me to come on Wednesday at 8 am. So I called today on Tuesday. The man on the phone told me that I wasn't on the books for Wednesday. I told him had an appointment. He said that isn't how we work. I said work. He said could drop off and doesnt know how long before could look at. Then I asked if could be fixed if diagnostic was showing problems. He said that is not how we work. I said huh? He said would be Saturday or after. I told the man had waited 5 days to get into garage. That when a car makes noises. Time is an essence. He had the audacity to ask then why driving.. I told him no lights on and have hit curbs way to many times to count. I have no choice have to work. I told him that a few days is reasonable as waiting more would further damage. He continued to only say that is how we work. I counted at least 5 times. It showed how incompetent this place is. If that even schedule. How will they know what parts. Lol. I want to say to the man you have no customer service and this is not the way it works when looking for a mechanic to fix your car. I actually saved myself from not walking into that place. Im sharing my story because what a waste of thinking had an appointment. To actually be lied to. Just had a HORRIBLE experience here, mostly b/c of the EXTREMELY rude service advisor, Lacy. i walk in and he's extremely rude every time I've spoken to him, and he just tells me its $880. I had the audacity to dare ask him how it got to $880. He SCREAMED at me - NOTHINGS CHANGED!!!. When I get home I see the note on the print out (which I wasn't shown or given until after I paid) says to "confirm labor on these hoses...". No one EVER contacted me to confirm anything. So I was pretty surprised it was over $500 of just labor to attach 3 hoses when they were already there replacing a valve. But I also understand things can take time, etc. But no one ever reached out to me, and I get my head bitten off when I come to pick it up. I don't know how long Lacy has been working there, but he always is extremely rude and unprofessional and probably costing the shop alot of future business. I know I'll take my money elsewhere. Lacy seems very unhappy with life in general, and seems to think he can abuse customers. read more

Finding a new mechanic can be stressful, especially when unexpected repairs pop up and you need something repaired quickly. Just our luck, right before my son was going to take his driver's license test, one of the yellow "check engine" lights came on. DMV will inspect your car before the test, there can be no warning lights on. And this was the day before the test. We called Sunoco @Village and they were beyond great! Quickly diagnosed problem (O2 sensor), ordered a new one, and replaced it that day!! The price was fair, the communication and work outstanding, really really appreciate it. read more

I can honestly say, as a crew, this is one of the best mechanics in the area. The clerical staff is responsive & genuine, mechanics are meticulous and the service is not timely. A quick update - my daughter's car needed some repairs to pass a vehicle inspection (which she didn't have done at Village Sunoco) so I told her to come here for a second opinion since I trust this business. I previously had some work done here while I was in VA and was very pleased (see my previous review). They quoted her a lower price and she has scheduled to have the work done next week. The biggest thing she said in addition to the lower price was that they were really very kind as well :) Thanks for taking care of my daughter and her car since I am all the way out in CO. I have a Model A Ford 1930 coupe and needed my tire tubes replaced. I first went to Ashburn Service & Tire (before going to Ashburn Village Sunoco) in the same strip maul area (Ashburn Village). They would not even look at the wheels just because they had a tubes in the tire. They sent me on my way with no hope of getting my tubes changed in my 5 tires. A tire company that won't change tubes in tires. What a joke!!! I needed gas so I went to the Sunoco gas station about a football field away and remembered there was a 3 bay garage at that location. It is called ASHBURN VILLAGE SUNOCO ASHBURN AUTO CARE - boy what a difference in attitude. They took my 5 tires right away and had the 5 tubes replaced that afternoon. I highly recommend ASHBURN VILLAGE SUNOCO they are responsive and were careful not to scratch my rims. From now on they will get my Model A work and my modern car care. My daughter and her husband took their Range Rover Sport to them for a second opinion after receiving a less than comfortable diagnostic and quote elsewhere. They were given exceptional advice, superior service, wonderful support, and even a loaner vehicle while the parts were being ordered and the work was done on their vehicle. The shop kept in contact with them throughout the process, and the contract was clear and concise. The cost was reasonable, as was the time to complete the work. My vehicle engine's light was ON for almost 6 months after taking it to 2 other car repair places and Chevrolet dealer with no result other than having this light on again in less than 2 days. I towed it to them in the late afternoon without an appointment. I wasn't expecting them to get back to me until the next day since I brought it late. They called me later on the same evening and told me what was wrong. I was hoping it wasn't my hybrid battery, but it turns out it was. I got piece of mind quick and I was able to come up with my next step. They do not work on hybrid batteries since it really should be done at the dealer. They didn't charge me for figuring out what was wrong. I can't express enough how I appreciated their service. I'm from California and I'm a poor struggling nursing student. I definitely recommend them and will refer my classmates to them. TLDR: I had a great, fast experience. The staff really cares about the people and the cars they work with. My 2007 Tacoma needed some significant repair work (rack & pinion, lower control arm, valve cover gaskets) and I didn't trust any of the bigger shops in Ashburn or the dealership to get the work done without taking a financial bath. I found Ashburn Auto Care (AKA Ashburn Village Sunoco) and was impressed with all the positive reviews. I reached out to them, and they gave me a fair estimate. Furthermore, they allowed me to get some of my own parts. Many shops won't allow it. They completed the work a lot sooner than expected, and it's driving like a new truck. Communication is quick and easy via phone and email. I cannot say enough good things about John and his team. In fact, my Tacoma is back in there today for a bad starter. All the work really not unexpected on a vehicle with 240,000 miles on it. If you need some auto repair and you want a fair shake, do yourself a favor and call Ashburn Auto Care. Due to the high Yelp reviews, I scheduled an appointment for the following morning. So, I walked in and I was greeted immediately. After check in, I was told that the service would take 30-45 minutes (not too shabby of a wait time). I noticed that they have a shuttle but I did not ask about the shuttle service because I planned to wait. They are conveniently located in the Ashburn Village Shopping Center. So, I walked to the Dunkin Donuts. I received their call and they finished about 43 minutes from dropping my car off (again, not too shabby!) When I came back to pick up my car, they told me about my check engine light (which I already knew all about). But they did a complimentary computer code reading to see why the engine light was on! (Virginia Tire & Auto charged me $110+ to do that freakin test code thing *red angry face emoji*) I used to take my car to VA Tire & Auto because they are good and are convenient, although I found them expensive... Let's compare price for an oil change on my Sequoia SUV v8: This Sunoco $71. VA Tire & Auto $120+ without coupon. My overall experience here was amazing! Don't get me wrong VA Tire is great too but I'm a college student that is on a budget. This Sunoco goes above and beyond! I will continue taking my care here! I don't write many reviews on yelp, because I truly feel like when you go to an establishment, you're SUPPOSED to get treated well, treated honestly and get what you pay for. So the reason I feel the need to write a review for ashburn village Sunoco, and more specifically John M. and Jenessa m., is because they did all of that AND more. I wasn't just treated well... John and Jenessa went above and beyond to give me the best price to fix my engine mounts (the best price in all 6 shops I visited!). But it's not all about the price, right? It's also about the time they took to figure out and explain exactly what I needed, exactly why I needed it and exactly when it could be done. I am a nanny and have up to 4 children under the age of 8 in my car every day. They are my top priority and Ashburn village Sunoco made it their top priority as well to get my car back to a safe mode of transportation for myself and these children. I not only needed engine mounts done, but I needed my windshield replaced. When John recognized that, he asked me what price I had been quoted, made a phone call, found a better price for me and scheduled me to get it done on the same day as my engine mounts! If I didn't find John and Jenessa, I could have lost my car and my job. But because of them and their honestly and diligence, all is right again in my little world and I am so so grateful that there are still shops and mechanics in this world with people like them. I have consistently received great service at a fair price from Ashburn Village Sunoco. They can get busy, so it's best not to expect that your work will be done immediately but it will be done by the time they estimate. Today, I stopped down in the morning and asked the best time to come back. If I ever have other concerns about my car, they give good advice. I've learned that garages that offer oil-change specials and other gimmicks will end up finding other places to charge you more for work that very often does not need to be done. Went to another auto service place in the same shopping center, was told I needed new brake pads, rotors, and calipers -- was quoted a little over $1000. Felt like I was being ripped off so I called and spoke with John, super nice, quickly gave me a quote over the phone and it was much cheaper than what I had been quoted at the other place. Brought my car over and after they took a look, I was told that my calipers weren't locked, contrary to what the guy at the other place had told me.
