We eat there 1-2 times a week and have recently discovered that the steaks are great and can't be beat. Cooked just the way you like.

Very unassuming front in strip mall. Obviously where all the locals go for really good, hometown dinners. Chicken was nice and juicy with a nice browned breast. Baked potato was very tasty. Cole slaw was creamy with a nice light, sweet taste. Service was excellent. Highly recommend. read more

Came here for Valentine's Day and got right in. Our waitress was very attentive, knew the menu well, and she was prompt. I have nothing but positive things to say about the server. The decor is dated, not what I was expecting in a steak house. There are TVs all around playing older shows and the dining rooms are due for a refresh. Regarding the food, good food but not great. Not better than any other steak houses in Kingsport but not worse, either. We both got Ribeye steaks and at least 4 of the 12 oz steak was fat (not a big fan of that much fat). The seasoning on the steak was solid S & P and it was cooked well. We upgraded to the salad and enjoyed their salad very much, especially their homemade dressings. The sides were casual but well prepared. Overall, not a bad experience but still not what we have been looking for in the Tri Cities area. read more

My wife and I were there for our anniversary date . I ordered the fettuccini with steak and she ordered the Ribeye . Her ribeye came out raw... barely cooked and my medium steak came out well done and grey . We complained about our meal and the chef , Luis, came out and very rudely talked to my wife. He made up an excuse that it's hard to cook a steak medium rare and evidently medium as well . He stood over my wife and belittled her when she said she didn't feel safe eating the steak. The fettuccine was salty but edible ....the rest of the service was very lack luster as the waitress disappeared and never refilled our drinks. A Steakhouse and More!! A great place to take people with diverse appetites- many non-steak choices. I truly order something different every time I go there. The service was not good, they were busy but our waitress dropped off our drinks and said she'd be right back to take our order and we waited for a while before finally asking if she forgot about us. She was at least honest and said that she had because she had got busy. It was a school spirit night for the PTA so it was probably busier than normal. The food was just so-so. So I finally found a chicken fried steak in the area that wasn't some pre-frozen food service crap. I read an article that talked about how the owners demand everything there be made from scratch. This seems to be true. I had some home fries with it that were well done, obviously created fresh, and uniquely made. So rare these days to find restaurants actually cooking instead of just finishing off prepacked food products. Give this place a try! P.S. Great small restaurant! It is very clean and this could be noticed the moment you step into the restaurant. The place is decorated nicely. It is more of a casual restaurant than a formal but it is very comfortable. The food came out quickly. I got sirloin tip (and mushroom gravy) with mashed potatoes and green beans. It tasted great. It had the right amount of seasoning. The prices were reasonable and worth it to pay for the meal. The server was very kind and patient. She did not rush me. Several friends recommended Zachary's to us, and we're glad they did because otherwise we wouldn't know about it! Its strip mall location makes it hard to find, and isn't quite what you'd expect for a steakhouse. We were seated immediately, and our server joined us promptly. I opted for an 8 ounce ribeye cooked medium, fried okra, and green beans. My steak was slightly past medium, but was still juicy and flavorful. I'd order it again in a heartbeat. Mr. Laine's New York strip was also slightly past what he'd ordered, but he still enjoyed it. Service was pleasant but minimal, and the prices are reasonable. However, the atmosphere was essentially non-existent, and seemed far too casual to suit a steakhouse. That said, the facility is impeccably clean. What a nice place. Clean, clean, clean! Food is great. Staff is friendly but depending on the day and time, the lone wait staff can be swamped but gets it done. Every meal I've had at Zachary's has been excellent. The Beef Tips are amazing. Everything is made in-house, including desserts.
