Seriously, this is the best Jamaican jerk sauce and jerk chicken I've had--no exaggeration. Every time we visit, I leave with bottles of the sauce and their spice because it's that good. Came with family the Saturday after Christmas. Wasn't busy at all when we arrived. By the end of our lunch they started getting very busy. Muffuletta: they changed their bread, unfortunately, and it's hard and dry. But the inside of the sandwich is still very good. Nothing like my previous one though. We went on a Friday night with a party of 10. Our server was great, don't remember his name though. Food was ok, wouldn't say it was great, but better than average. Our party had nachos, bbq sandwich and i had a meat lovers pizza. There were a few salads in there as well. One of the party has issues with gluten and they were able to accommodate her, so kudos on that. My pizza was tasty, crust is a little different than I'm used to, but it was good. While visiting in town, my boyfriend and I decided to try this place out. We were so intrigued with the name, and we are so happy we tried this place out! Immediately, the staff were super friendly, and the restaurant has such a fun vibe/ atmosphere. I thought the newspaper menus were adorable! The service was super quick. We spent about 45 minutes total during lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. For the table, we ordered the BBQ nachos. Super yummy and flavorful! Huge portion, so bring your appetite when ordering this off the menu. I ordered the philly cheesesteak with chips, and he ordered the jerk chicken sandwich with chips. The restaurant had plenty of seating on the patio. It was nice day so we sat outside (we weren't given an option. We were taken to the table at the end of the patio near the restrooms and a big cooler fan which is very loud to sit next to. I felt like we were being out in timeout because we were so far away from literally everyone else in the restaurant. Started with chili it was good and served hot just like I like. Turkey and cheddar was good seemed fresh and decent sized. The chips homemade. The Caribbean pizza was sweet. The fruits on it made it stand out maybe a little on the oily side. The house salad was fairly big for a side, the dressing was really good, homemade. The smothered chicken was good and I was impressed with the spinach and artichoke. I would not think of putting those together but it worked. The key lime pie was delicious. I can see why they are "known" for it. It had two layers and they had so much flavor and just the right amount of tartness. The kitchen was slow. Our waitress checked on us four times before we got our food. Had no idea what I was walking into but this place was pretty cool. The atmosphere reminds me of something that should be at the beach. Anyway the menu is quite extensive and is printed like a newspaper. Pretty cool. The server I had was very good and when I asked for recommendations he seemed very honest. He said the jerk chicken is where to go. So I had the jerk chicken dinner with Brussel sprouts and bbq baked beans. This far exceeded my expectations. The chicken was grilled perfectly very juicy. It was spicy but not too bad. The beans were ok not wonderful but still good. The sprouts were good too. We were visiting my husband's family in Tennessee. They eat out often and one night decided we would go to Cootie Brown's in Johnson City, where we would meet up with their niece and her family. We arrived before she did and looked at the menu and decided what to order while waiting for them. Our server, Emma, got our drink orders and they were brought to our table. I ordered water because it keeps me hydrated. The water was awful! There were some specks or something in the bottom of the glass, too, and I just quit drinking my water. My husband's water also tasted awful and had junk in the bottom of his glass, too. The niece and her family finally arrived, and Emma came back to take our orders. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with melted mozzarella, my husband and brother-in-law ordered the 1/2 pound burger, my b-i-l's spouse ordered a salad and some humus, I think. Not sure what the other five people in our group ordered. Well, the place hadn't been crazy busy when we came in but a few more tables had more guests. It seemed about 15-20 minutes later that the food orders for the other 5 people in our group were delivered to our table. Emma came by and apologized that our food was not yet ready and stated she had put the orders in at the same time. About 5-10 minutes later she came back and stated that our food was ready except "they" were waiting for a side. She didn't say what side wasn't ready, and maybe no one told her. We couldn't figure it out because what we ordered came with the cootie fries, or whatever they call them, so those should always be ready as many dishes come with them. My sandwich had baked beans and cole slaw but those come in very small plastic "containers" which are usually dished up ahead of time and put in the fridge so the servers/platers can add them to the dish just before the food is brought to the table. Well, we waited and waited, and were discussing why our food was ready but we weren't getting it. About 15-20 minutes later (after the other 5 people at our table were done eating), our food arrived. My pulled pork sandwich had congealed mozzarella cheese on ihe meat, with cootie fries (I wasn't sure if they were supposed to be served warm or cold) and the tiny dishes of cole slaw and baked beans. My husband got his burger but the mustard he asked to be on the burger was not on it. My brother-in-law got his burger just the way he asked, and his wife's food appeared to be okay. Emma came back with a container of mustard for my husband's burger. Whoopee. That still doesn't make it on the burger unless it is supposed to be a do-it-yourself thing. Our food did not look appetizing but we gave it a shot. My pulled pork sandwich was drier than dry and not even lukewarm; bordering on cold. The burgers were drier than dry as well. We could tell the food had been sitting around for awhile, maybe under a heated light but, if so, the heated light bulb must have burned out because the burgers were cold, too. I did not eat all of my sandwich. It was just too dry and cold. The cootie fries were nothing to write home about. Most of them were broken potato slices and not at all impressive. Emma was an attentive server and she was not the one making the food, so we gave her a nice tip. When I paid, the man at the check-out didn't even ask if we enjoyed our meal or ask how it was. He just took my payment. I would not have left any stars but that wasn't a choice. The next day, my brother-in-law apologized that we had gone to eat at Cootie Brown's but we went because his wife enjoys the salads. We will never go back to one. The wife and I came here on a recommendation from a friend and were not disappointed. The staff were all friendly and accommodating, especially Adam, our server. The menu was extensive but we both settled on the BBQ pork sandwich which came with a side of coleslaw, BBQ beans and homemade potato chips. The portions of coleslaw and beans were small but the pork and chips were more than generous and everything was very tasty. We shared the key lime pie which was over the top. There is glass separating inside dining from outside, so clean I didn't notice the glass at first. Worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Food was okay definitely not worth what we paid for it but the service was horrible. My family and I ordered, we wait 45 mins for food to get to the table for it to be delivered wrong. I ordered the double chicken breast dinner with brown rice to then receive one chicken breast with Brussel sprouts. I'm a very understanding person as I work in health care. I know how it works so I try to be polite. My husband's food gets to the table, he ordered the smoked bologna sandwich with beans and chips (that is the sides that come with this meal) he received a small cup of beans and a bowl with beans. When our waitress gets back I say "hey I actually had double chicken and brown rice instead of Brussels sprouts" she responds with "I didn't hear you say that I heard you say Brussel sprouts... I'll can get them to fix that" I said "okay thank you also is there a reason why he has two sides of beans with his?" She looks at him and says "because you asked for beans" he said "I asked if beans came with the meal you said do you want beans? So I said yes" she said "oh" then looks at me and says "your other food will be out soon." When she walks away I made a joke to my husband saying "watch them charge you $5 for those beans you didn't even ask for" She comes back with my food and we tried to enjoy our meal. I liked my food however my husband didn't touch any of the beans they were disgusting. I don't think it was anyone's fault I think we just didn't like them. We get our check. My 18 month old obviously can't eat chips with his KIDS chicken tender meal so when ordering I asked to switch it for mashed potatoes (those were 5 DOLLARS!) whatever it is what it is I can't believe that's just a normal side for a child lol. Sure enough we were charged for the beans 4.95! Our friend that was with us was charged for double chicken with her meal when she only got one breast not two so she asked her to fix it. She did. Then I said "also is this right we are paying $4.95 for those beans" she said "oh yeah I had to charge since he asked for double beans" I said "he didn't ask for double beans it was a misunderstanding" she basically rolled her eyes and said "I can take it off" I said "no it's okay" this waitress misunderstood and made mistakes time after time. That isn't the whole point in my review it is that my experience was awful because of her. She didn't once say "oh I'm sorry I must've made a mistake" there was no accountability took on her part what so ever and she basically said it was our fault anytime I asked her politely she deflected and didn't really offer to fix HER mistake. It's absolutely unacceptable. She has a job to make her customers happy and she can't own up when she is making mistakes. Everyone is human everyone messes up it's how you handle it that matters. We won't be back and I know that doesn't mean much but this is my first ever review I'm leaving on the internet I've never had an experience like this. Cool place. Came on a Friday around 6:00. The patio seating is nice if you can handle the decibel level of the Roan Street National Speedway 50 feet away. We started out with the spiral chips and Jamaican Beef Pies. The chips aren't seasoned so they come with ketchup. We liked them quite a bit. The Jamaican pies (2) were somewhat mild and served with lettuce , onions, tomatoes, shredded cheese piled on top . Typically these would be hand held and I suppose once you clear the accoutrements off the pies you can do that. Seemed unecessary. The sauce served on the side is REALLY tasty ..spicy, sweet, sour, tangy , and it lifts the pie up quite a bit .. actually the chips work great with the sauce ! I will say the pies were a tad short on beef. 6 out of 10. For the entrees my gf got the burger which she said was very good. They never asked how she wanted it cooked and it came out medium/well which is her preference. You may want to be specific to get one cooked differently. I had the Philly Cheese Steak sammie. I'm from PA and lived in Philly for a bit so I'm super critical as I've eaten MANY disastrous attempts at this sandwich in my 36 years here in Tennessee. It had sliced beef, onions ,bell pepper and they offer both American and Provolone cheese so that's definitely on-point. I got a cup of marinara on the side to add to the top. In PA this would be termed a Pizza Steak or Cheese Steak Special depending on where you live. It was done really well but I could tell the cheese was placed on top and the sandwich was placed under a salamander oven to finish. That's not traditional but it still created a good melt and added some toast to the roll...and that roll was GREAT. I asked the server where they got their rolls and no one seemed to know. It was Philly Worthy...even had the semolina flour on the bottom. 8 out of 10. For dessert we split the Key Lime Pie and it was plenty big enough for two. Super yummy ! Two layers...bottom layer is silky smooth and the top is classic tart key lime. The graham crust was a good half inch thick ! 9 out of 10. There was only one fail for the meal...I bought 2 Modelos and they were barely cold and the mugs here aren't frozen either so that was some rather tepid brew. That's kind of inexcusable really. I know freezing mugs takes up cooler space but can you at least have your beer cold ? 2 out of 10. Our server was Callie B and she was aces . 10 out of 10 for Callie. I will definitely return to try other items. I might even order a beer hoping I was there on an off day. read more

So this review is specifically for the key lime pie!!!! It is wonderful...and very different than any key lime I have ever had. I ordered through Goldbelly.com....because I was looking to try a key lime pie from a restaurant known for their key lime. Cootie Brown's got good reviews and so I ordered it. I am so glad I did...and when the pie came it was frozen...and so I let it thaw out enough to cut it and I separated into 2 slices/per container so that I could eat later and not have to eat the whole pie now! I love the pie, love the graham cracker crust and how the key lime flavor is at the top....perfectly sweet/tart. And freezing it, the pie keeps well...the crust is still great even after thawing it out! Love that! I will order again...amazing key lime pie! read more

We arrive mid afternoon on Friday. At the hostess desk we are told to wait 2 minutes while she seats a couple in front of us. Then she is back and she tells us to wait another 2 minutes. This time she goes over and cleans a booth and chats with a waitress. When she returns she grabs menus and tries to seat us in the outdoor portion directly across from the hostess station about two paces away. We remind her we want to sit inside. We are told to wait another 2 minutes. When she returns she takes us to a table directly outside the toilets so we can enjoy the sights, sounds and smells from the toilets even though other nicer tables and booths are open as we walk to this location. Punishment for us for having to make her walk I guess. The food is up in 20 mins. My burger is so well cooked it looks and tastes like a roof shingle made from beef. Don't waste your breath specifying a burger doneness The cheese is dropped on top without any effort to melt it in place. If it did start out at a half pound it sure in hell is not a half pound when it reaches me since its so dry. Compare this with the reuben sandwich which tastes odd. Pulling off a piece of meat, we both realise all we can actually taste is salt, its very very salty to the point of no flavor. My partner abandons her food altogether. It's just not good. Our server was kind and very attentive. She checked in on us on a regular basis. I think she realized something was wrong, if she did realize, she was right. Me and my wife stumbled upon this shit show on our way to Sevierville TN. Tried to order an alcholic beverage and couldn't because my ID wouldn't be read supposedly. So that was a bad start. Ordered two tacos for $15, one beef taco( which tasted damn near like Taco Bell) and one fried fish taco which tasted like they put fish sticks in the fryer. wife got a Italian sub which tasted like a cardboard sandwich.
