Sloopy's is one of our must visits when we visit Kingsport. We have been eating at Sloopy's for years. The employees are always friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. The food is really good too. They have great burritos, burgers, tater tots and hot dogs. Our favorite is the fish tacos. I highly recommend Sloopy's and give it a 9/10 rating.

Definitely a hidden jewel!! It does now look like much but this was one of the best experiences I've ever had at a restaurant and the food just reminded you of home( if you are looking a simple dish that makes your inner child giggle) then this will be the place! We definitely be back.

    Grilled Cheese

Grilled Cheese was half cooked. A grilled cheese used to be a staple. My daughter did not like her burger. The tater tots were still delicious. Prices are a little outrageous. Sloooy's used to be a staple. I probably would not return except for a chocolate milkshake through the drive-thru.

Food was okay, but what rubbed me wrong is I called in my food and was told 10 minutes tops. Get there 10 minutes later and wait 20, the rude older lady behind the counter was too busy talking so she let me food sit for 20 MINUTES and made me late for work since she didn't check to see what food was ready. Will not be returning.

Once a month my friends and I pick a new restaurant to try around the area. This month we chose Sloopys in Kingsport. It is a small local place and it was a pure delight. The decor was homey and welcoming. The staff was all very engaging and helpful. We loved the place and hadn't even eaten or ordered yet. All three of us ordered the patty melt special with fries and drink. Now, anyone who has ever had a patty melt knows they are either really good or really bad. Sloopys was excellent. The flavor was taste bud electric and just juicy enough to be mouthwatering. I prefer crinkle cut fries as I feel they are the best fries and theirs were phenomenal and plentiful. We had nice conversations with several staff members and as I realized when I got home, lost my cash as it must have fallen out of my pocket. I called and they not only had my money secured for me but, remembered who we were. This is a definite new local favorite. If you visit Kingsport, do yourself a favor and visit the folks at Sloopys

As usual, Sloopy is always good. It's fast food and it's good food. If you're looking for good fast junk food, this is where you go.

One of the better hole in the wall diners. Great burgers and if the owner is around there is some type of floor show /entertainment.

But when we arrived, right after they opened on a Sunday morning, we were told that they only serve "what we refer to as 'brunch' on Sundays", and were handed paper menus with five items on it. Slightly confused, hoping we could still order off of their main menu, we waited for the waitress to return with our coffee (three Americanos and one latte). And we waited. And then we waited. And we waited some more. While we waited, three other parties came in, sat down, questioned the menu, then got up and left. Had it been just us that had that reaction to the abbreviated menu, I would have voted to woman up and just stay put. I didn't want to be "those tourists" who get all riled up about something local that doesn't fit their expectations. But once we (finally!) got our coffee and asked the waitress for clarification, we realized we had to go. The menu was the menu. Their sides - which are referenced on the menu but are never explained - were lackluster for the "base" and even less impressive for the "premium" options, which of course would have cost us even more money. That, paired with the uninspired and surprisingly one-note menu just drove us right out the door. My latte was at least delightful, but that's all I can say. Also, the place was likely very clean, because we were hit by a powerful smell of disinfectant and/or cleaner when we walked in. And finally, the waitress removed my menu after she saw me taking a picture of it. She didn't touch anybody else's menu, just mine.

To me it looks more like a tea shop than a sandwich shop. During our visit, they played fairly loud religious music for a sandwich shop. Next door was an ice cream shop but I didn't feel like any ice cream after eating and I'm not a big Blue Bell fan anyway. They have 2 menus and a lot of items to choose from but most are breakfast or lunch items. I went with a specialty sandwich, the Victoria (a chicken sandwich on ciabatta bread) and a sweet tea. I added their homemade potato salad for $1 more. The sandwich - this was a tasty sandwich on soft ciabatta bread but only 1 problem, the kitchen put American cheese on it. The menu indicated it had cheddar. Luckily they were able to bring me some cheddar from the kitchen while I was scraping off the processed cheese. Overall, it was pretty good because of a sauce they put on it which is slathered all over the shredded chicken. Potato salad - this is mayo based, quite different than the mustard based potato salad in the south. They added plenty of dill on the sandwich which made my colleague cringe since he also substituted for potato salad, but I thought it was pretty good. The service was a little strange as I heard our waitress keep making mistakes with another nearby table too as she kept saying "sorry" to that table as well.

But our favorite is The Rose. Their homemade pimento cheese with bacon and pepper jelly on ciabatta was amazing!

The staff was super friendly and knew the history of these restaurants. Our waitress, Kenley, made great recommendations from the menu. The food was fantastic! Even their coffee was good. The folks that bus the tables don't scrape the trash and food off them, and the lazy dishwashers push the dishes into the machine with the food, trash, and whatever else still in there. When the dishes come out, they scrub the leftover dirty spots with one of those green scrub pads, rinse it off with water, and put it away wet. Yep, that's right. No sanitizer after rubbing plates with a dirty scrub pad, and no drying time. Just toss it on the stack. To put the cherry on top, the silverware doesn't get washed and sanitized again after its sorted and put into containers. That's right folks. EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF SILVERWARE has been in a dirty dishwashers hands and then NOT REWASHED before it goes in your mouth. Nice, huh? If you're willing to eat here you may as well just have your breakfast on the bare sidewalk. Forgot to mention, someone from their management team named Ethan is already emailing me, trying to frame my complaint as a disgruntled employee situation. Sad that they won't even take accountability and improve their restaurant for their customers.
