I was a teacher and coach at the local high school fifty years ago, and so I decided to have breakfast here on the off chance I might encounter someone I had taught (I left the area in 1979). There were photos on the wall of one of the teams I had coached. I asked someone about it and it turned out I had coached the person I asked. It made my morning. The service was very friendly and the food was tasty with ample portions. The cost was very reasonable. If I were to be in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to stop here for breakfast again. Loved everything about this place! Was looking to grab some breakfast before an 8.5 hr drive home and this place was everything I'd hoped it would be. The place was packed so there was about a 15 minute wait, which only made my expectations even higher. As crowded as it was, it was still fairly quiet w/big and small groups just enjoying their company. Once seated I had the sweetest lady come over to take my drink order and answer all my menu questions. She made some great suggestions and spoke highly about being blessed to live in that part of the country. Wish I had her at every restaurant I visited! Food took about 10 minutes to arrive after ordering and it was all so good. Not many places left on this planet that can serve up some delicious sausage grease gravy, but they knocked it out of the park. Biscuits were big and were perfect for a gravy bath. The country fried steak breakfast plate was excellent w/eggs & some excellent hash browns. Saw the homemade pies up on a dry erase board across the room on the wall and just had to try one out. I enjoyed my slice of coconut meringue. My coffee cup never went empty and I left w/a full belly and a doggie bag for the long road home. I love Bluff City diner. Not only are the people that work there amazing, but the food is really tasty and doesn't break the bank. My favorite is the club sandwich with French fries and a side of ranch. My daughter loves the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich with French fries and a side of ranch. The homemade desserts are pretty yummy too! If you do go to eat, you better get there early. The place is not that big, but it's ALWAYS packed. read more

Bluff City was just awesome. Had the Country Fried steak, mashed potatoes, and Green beans. The steak was as tender as my mother's heart, potatoes were very tasty, and the Green beans were just like my mother made them. Brought home a piece of their Chocolate Meringue Pie and it was the best I've had in a long time. It was a bit of a drive, but so worth it. Service was great as well. I'm almost reluctant to post a positive review for fear I won't even be able to get into this place in the future. This is a great southern traditional diner with great food selections and very competitive prices. My favorite breakfast is the "Growing Boy" with two eggs however you like them biscuits and gravy and a choice of meats from which I normally get the two pork cutlets. (Which can be cut with a fork) They have a number of different luncheon specials which I plan to try more of in the future. An unusual side (to me at least) was Cornbread Salad. If you are a northerner offended by waitstaff who called you "honey, sugar or sweetheart" you may want to turn your ipods up high! Beautiful drive to their location also. read more

Plain looking inside and out. Cold inside (in winter). Plenty of heaters, but their thermostat must be turned way down. Bathroom completely unheated. Food...good. Decent value. Too bad nothing else worked out. Waitress missing in action. We could see her eating from the opening to the kitchen, hamming it up, etc. Apparently she went on break right after our food was delivered? Yes, people do have to eat, but we were the customers. At least check on us once at the half way mark.. About 15-20 minutes passed before we got to make our initial order. Zero checkups once we got our food. Had to flag our waitress down to get a refill. At that point it was just for good measure as we'd previously stopped eating when we'd used up even the ice in our cups. read more

I really like Bluff City Diner quite a bit. I've never been one who likes the big corporate restaurants nearly as much as a privately run place. Bluff City Diner is a simple, home style place with good home style food, good people, and it feels like I'm welcome there each time I go. The only thing that could make it more perfect for me is if they made their own french fries instead of frozen, but thats a pet peeve I look at more than most people. Do yourself a favor and get the Big Country Burger, you won't regret it! The entire menu looked great from top to bottom. Service was great and the atmosphere was very laid back! Bluff City doesn't offer many dinning options but the ones they do offer are fantastic, this one being at the top of the list!
