I was a teacher and coach at the local high school fifty years ago, and so I decided to have breakfast here on the off chance I might encounter someone I had taught (I left the area in 1979). There were photos on the wall of one of the teams I had coached. I asked someone about it and it turned out I had coached the person I asked. It made my morning. The service was very friendly and the food was tasty with ample portions. The cost was very reasonable. If I were to be in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to stop here for breakfast again. After the food and conversation, I continued on my way to Elizabethton for a round of golf. read more

We were staying in Bluff City was besties's family while attending the 2026 Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion. Her cousin recommended the diner for a quick bite of dinner or breakfast. We stopped for dinner the first night and I went back in the morning for breakfast. Nothing fancy small diner that the locals frequent. They have daily specials. They have all of the regular southern fair. Bestie said the cornbread reminded her of her nana (who was from Harlan County, Kentucky - so that tells me this is OG Appalachian cornbread). It's not like your typical Northeastern sweet cornbread. The menu had all your typical southern fair chicken fried steak soup beans, and cornbread. They serve breakfast all day. She got the beef vegetable soup with the cornbread. Beef vegetable soup was Campbell's. I had the patty melt, which was amazing. It was a 10 ounce freshly made patty on rye toast with grilled onions and Swiss cheese. It was the best patty melt. I've had in many years. My meal came with a small side of critical cut fries that were delicious. Service was friendly and fast. We went with besties's cousin for breakfast the next morning. I have the two eggs over easy with a biscuit and sausage gravy and two strips of bacon. That biscuit was amazing as a sausage gravy. Bacon was crisp and delicious. Service was again very fast and friendly they checked on us numerous times to freshen our coffee, which was greatly appreciated. If you're staying near Bristol or in Bluff City etc. check out the Bluff City Diner. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food was really good and the prices are extremely reasonable plenty of offstreet parking easy access for those who might have mobility issues. read more

Bluff City Diner - Patty melt with fries - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Bluff City, Tennessee

I was in town from South Carolina for the Rhythm and Roots Reunion music festival and wanted to grab a bite for lunch and support a local restaurant, so we decided on Bluff City Diner. Unfortunately, the experience was so uncomfortable and unwelcoming that we left without ever being served. When we walked in, we were immediately stared at as though we had walked into somewhere we weren't supposed to be. A very nice woman behind the counter told us we could sit at any open table, so we chose one and sat down. And then...nothing. We sat patiently for several minutes. No one brought us menus. No one asked if we wanted something to drink. No one acknowledged us at all. We were simply ignored. What made it even more frustrating was that the restaurant was not so busy that someone couldn't have come to our table. There were plenty of people in the restaurant, but there were also open tables. One of the young ladies who appeared to be a server was standing around, and it was very clear that the staff knew we were there. We eventually got up and left. I have never felt more unwelcome in a restaurant. If you didn't want to serve us because we weren't local, it would have been far less uncomfortable to simply tell us that rather than leave us sitting there feeling invisible. The irony is that we were visitors who wanted to support a local business. Instead, we left embarrassed and upset. I can't tell you how the food tastes because we were never given the opportunity to order any. Owners, managers, and staff: do better. All we wanted to do was have lunch and support your business. The way we were treated was completely unacceptable and should be embarrassing. Shame on ya'll. If you're visiting the area and aren't local, I'd think twice before choosing this restaurant. We certainly won't be back. read more

I love their home fries, and I wish they were open on Mondays! Service was ok, maybe a little slow, they kept my tea full and did i mention those home fries!!! read more

The food was outstanding! If you are looking for comfort food this is the place. The "Chopped Steak" and "Big Ol' Timer's Breakfast" is most recommended! The service was also wonderful, our server was very sweet and familiarized us with the menu. read more

Loved everything about this place! Was looking to grab some breakfast before an 8.5 hr drive home and this place was everything I'd hoped it would be. The place was packed so there was about a 15 minute wait, which only made my expectations even higher. As crowded as it was, it was still fairly quiet w/big and small groups just enjoying their company. Once seated I had the sweetest lady come over to take my drink order and answer all my menu questions. She made some great suggestions and spoke highly about being blessed to live in that part of the country. Wish I had her at every restaurant I visited! Food took about 10 minutes to arrive after ordering and it was all so good. Not many places left on this planet that can serve up some delicious sausage grease gravy, but they knocked it out of the park. Biscuits were big and were perfect for a gravy bath. The country fried steak breakfast plate was excellent w/eggs & some excellent hash browns. Saw the homemade pies up on a dry erase board across the room on the wall and just had to try one out. I enjoyed my slice of coconut meringue. My coffee cup never went empty and I left w/a full belly and a doggie bag for the long road home. If I ever make it back that way I will def be making another visit! read more

I love Bluff City diner. Not only are the people that work there amazing, but the food is really tasty and doesn't break the bank. My favorite is the club sandwich with French fries and a side of ranch. My daughter loves the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich with French fries and a side of ranch. The homemade desserts are pretty yummy too! If you do go to eat, you better get there early. The place is not that big, but it's ALWAYS packed. read more

Ordered two shakes two regular cheeseburgers only. Cost 38.99. Toooo much. Didn't even get fries. I know they have had hard time since Hurricane but that was too expensive for a drive up. read more

I love this diner. If you enjoy the moms and pops old style diner then this is a must. Location is not readily available or easy. But it's not far from the main highway. But it's worth the effort and you will not be disappointed. Try it out. No need to thank me. We need more of these. read more

Bluff City was just awesome. Had the Country Fried steak, mashed potatoes, and Green beans. The steak was as tender as my mother's heart, potatoes were very tasty, and the Green beans were just like my mother made them. Brought home a piece of their Chocolate Meringue Pie and it was the best I've had in a long time. It was a bit of a drive, but so worth it. Service was great as well. Will definitely be back! read more

Food is always great. Service is fast and very friendly. Great ambiance and atmosphere.

Small local restaurant with real friendly staff. It's one of places that everyone knows everyone. The food is always good.

I'm almost reluctant to post a positive review for fear I won't even be able to get into this place in the future. This is a great southern traditional diner with great food selections and very competitive prices. My favorite breakfast is the "Growing Boy" with two eggs however you like them biscuits and gravy and a choice of meats from which I normally get the two pork cutlets. (Which can be cut with a fork) They have a number of different luncheon specials which I plan to try more of in the future. An unusual side (to me at least) was Cornbread Salad. If you are a northerner offended by waitstaff who called you "honey, sugar or sweetheart" you may want to turn your ipods up high! Beautiful drive to their location also. read more

Great local dinner. Nothing fancy just good food. Pretty crowded at 9:30 on Sunday morning but we got in and out easily.

Really good super busy place good prices too it seems best part was that it's all day breakfast.

Love this place. Food quality and service is good but the servers should focus more on bussing tables instead of rolling silverware because I've watched many customers walk out based on this fact: too many dirty tables, small Restaurant and no clean place to sit. read more

Plain looking inside and out. Cold inside (in winter). Plenty of heaters, but their thermostat must be turned way down. Bathroom completely unheated. Food...good. Decent value. Too bad nothing else worked out. Waitress missing in action. We could see her eating from the opening to the kitchen, hamming it up, etc. Apparently she went on break right after our food was delivered? Yes, people do have to eat, but we were the customers. At least check on us once at the half way mark.. About 15-20 minutes passed before we got to make our initial order. Zero checkups once we got our food. Had to flag our waitress down to get a refill. At that point it was just for good measure as we'd previously stopped eating when we'd used up even the ice in our cups. read more

Great breakfast for a good value. Staff is really great too. Nice at home feel for sure, will be back.

Food was pretty darn tasty, cute little diner, small dining room, staff friendly but looked at me like an outsider.

Cute little diner in Bluff City! The food is always fresh and delicious. The staff is super nice and friendly too!

Denied my service dog. Kept asking for papers and not listening to me or my family when we explained the ADA laws. Claimed "I'm the owner of the diner, I don't like dogs in my diner" read more

My husband and I ate at Bluff City Diner during a rain delay at Bristol Motor Speedway and we couldn't be more pleased. We both had Corn Nuggets and a Big Country Burger with Fries; all of it was awesome. The waitstaff was friendly, professional, and really fun to talk to. It was exactly what we needed on a rainy day! read more

Bluff City Diner - a window with a sign that says bluff city diner - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Bluff City, Tennessee

I really like Bluff City Diner quite a bit. I've never been one who likes the big corporate restaurants nearly as much as a privately run place. Bluff City Diner is a simple, home style place with good home style food, good people, and it feels like I'm welcome there each time I go. The only thing that could make it more perfect for me is if they made their own french fries instead of frozen, but thats a pet peeve I look at more than most people. I look forward to my next visit as always. read more
