Fantastic. The space is large and nicely arranged with plenty of seating options. The staff were all extremely friendly. The beer, some from an attached brewery, was great, with a nice range of styles. Not everything on tap was another IPA. In terms of food, I'm not their target audience, but they do seem to have made at least some effort to have something without meat on the menu. In terms of food, I ordered the house salad with a smoked vegetable topping. It was great. The smoked vegetables were a really nice way to get a little bit of barbecue into a vegetarian dish. They also added lots of flavor to the salad. I was afraid the salad might not be very substantial, so I also ordered some pickle fries. Those were interesting, but substantially more food than I needed. The salad is already plenty for a meal. I've been traveling this week, and I think this place is the best restaurant I've checked out during my trip. Highly recommended. read more

But this fancier place hit the spot! I sat at the bar, it was really busy for a weekday at lunch, that's usually a good sign! I went non traditional and got the smoked pork belly and turkey. The pork belly was delicious! The turkey was sliced very thin. It had good flavor but lost a little moisture because f the cut. I got fried okra and slaw also. Both weee very tasty. The brisket was quite fatty, the pulled pork lacked flavor, and the ribs were tough and didn't seem properly smoked--they weren't tender or "fall off the bone" as expected. The food also needed a lot of barbecue sauce to add flavor; the sweet sauce was good, but the mild sauce was very vinegar-forward and not very enjoyable. My mom ordered the coleslaw and didn't care for it. We ordered the Tennessee Trinity with smoked chicken, ribs, and chopped brisket. Our appetizers were the Pulled Pork tater tots with burnt ends, and the Fried House Pickles. The meat was all top notch, I think the chicken was next level. We were seated quickly and the waitress was quick to take care of everything we needed. The interior was open and attractive, music was at a level appropriate for conversation without making it difficult. My wife got a Southern Lady drink, she liked it, it was sweet but not too sweet, she would get it again. I had the Appalachian Highlands Chocolate Stout, which was rich and very good, I also tried the Thunder Pig IPA setting at 90 IBU. It was very good for those who love a beer that bites back. Called at 3:30 so restaurant wasn't busy. Was on hold for 5 minutes and person was not very friendly. Finally got order in and was told 25 minutes for pickup which you wonder how long it takes to fill a tray of bbq. The person who filled the order was very nice. I have ordered 6 of the family packs but never really checked what I was getting for $45. The two sides are in tiny containers where four people might get a couple tablespoons but certainly not enough to fill someone. One container is about the size of a serving for one person. The fried pickle App with chipotle ranch was very good. I had the fried chicken sandwich with a side of coleslaw. It was a BIG piece of chicken on a pretzel roll. We opted to split the two meat platter. We chose pulled pork and pork belly with steamed veggies and tater tots. Pulled pork was moist and warm but slightly bland. I like sauce so I added their traditional BBQ sauce which was very mild and nice. The pork belly had been smoked, sliced and then grilled. Great flavor, juicy and crisp on the outside. It needed no sauce. Excellent! Veggies were steamed but still crisp. Tator tots were hot, crisp and had a bit of kick to them. Really enjoyed them. Overall a nice meal and pleasant experience. Me my wife and grandson ate here last night, 8-21-26. My grandson had a hamburger and was pleased, my wife had the pulled pork with green tomatoes and cheese grits, and she said it was great. However I got the half rack of ribs and was very disappointed. I'm not used to having burned black ribs. I had a hard time getting the taste out of my mouth for hours. I got the beans, which were good, and the collards which were dry. I've never left a bad review before, but I felt I had to. You spend good money and you expect a lot better than what I got. Ive been here 3 times now (at the JC location) and can confidently say this is Consistently one of the best places to eat for dinner and brunch in all of the tri cities area, and one of the more reasonably priced for the quality of food. All 3 servers were great and the vibe inside is fun and mellow. I don't know who is back there smoking the BBQ or cooking the grits but they really know what they are doing. For lunch we stopped by Southern Craft BBQ, (@socrajc) a regional chain with four locations in NE TN and SW VA. I got the Killer B sandwich. It's smoked brisket on a toasted bun topped with Stoney Creek BBQ sauce, blackberry jam, black pepper bacon. It was a tasty sandwich, but the brisket was dry. Thankfully there were squeeze bottles of BBQ sauce on the table. The blackberry jam was a nice sweet contrast to the brisket and pepper bacon, but it wasn't quite enough to overcome the tough brisket. Mah Wife got the North Carolina Catfish. It's a whole deep-fried catfish served with two sides. She chose the collard greens and sweet potato soufflé. It was a good fish and I enjoyed the collards. The restaurant itself was comfy and they do have their own in-house brewery, if you're into craft beers. Overall, a decent visit, but I'd probably try some other meats and skip the brisket. read more

They were old, overcooked and drenched in oil(okra and Home fries) hard and oily. Tried to redeem the night by ordering a piece of cheesecake to share, the crust on the cheesecake was so hard you could not break it with a fork and the cheesecake tasted stale. Southern Craft in Johnson City is a winner in my book! The atmosphere is a chill, everything you'd expect in an up-scale southern barbecue joint. My favorite part of the vibe was the great classic 90's/2000's country music - I found myself singing every song! I had a 2 meat plate with pulled pork and brisket burnt ends, which were awesome! Their North Carolina (Lexington) style sauce was very good, as was the Memphis style sauce. The friends I went with said the brisket and burnt end nachos were also excellent. I got the coleslaw and a side salad with blue cheese dressing since I'm gluten free (but not celiac or allergic to wheat). Note: the potato salad is not gluten free! Not a great place if you are Celiac/wheat/gluten allergic simply because your non-meat options are limited. They also note that they cannot guarantee no cross-contamination. For instance even the two meat plate comes with a piece of bread (see picture) - not a problem for me, but could be for those more sensitive. Shout out to Maddy, who provided excellent service. She was more than willing to ask about gluten free options. She recommended the house dry rub wings with Buffalo sauce to dip them in for a little more heat. My friends said they were good!
