Counter service inside a near two deck building overlooking a bar. Nice array of combos to select. Ordered the thigh and leg "oh Holy Ghost" style which came with 2 sides. The fried okra was fantastic. The curried brussels felt like they were frozen out of one of those steamed bags and didn't get a ton of the curry note. The chicken though was outrageously good! Crisp and loads of heat. Hiccups after 3 bites and took about 15 mins to get through 2 pieces. This place could be easy to miss because it's located inside the back of another business (the Rum Bar). Their hot chicken sandwich lives up to the name Voodoo Chicken in a good way. Lots of options to customize your heat level or particular sauce (I recommend the Cheerwine sauce). What an amazing restaurant! Highly recommended! I had the lunch special (2 thighs and a side), my wife had tenders and two sides. The thighs were very crispy and the side was whole fried okra. I had never had okra -whole fried. Very good. You actually get the taste of the okra with the light breading. The chicken was crispy but still extremely moist. Perfect! The tenders my wife had were also very nice. Her sides were mac -n- cheese and fried pickles. Both were very tasty. He told us all about how his restaurant became gluten free through experimenting. He primarily used rice flour which gives the fried chicken and waffles a light and crispy yumminess. The chicken was delicious and paired with the waffles and a spicy maple syrup with bacon was a tasty delight. Lots of options including gluten free biscuits which we will be coming back for! Having heard lots of great comments about this place, today I placed a to-go order for 4 sides, chicken breasts, drumsticks and GF biscuits (for 2 persons). Brought it home and discovered it was NOT ideal for my husband, who said the chicken breast coating tasted burnt and that the pinto beans were 'marginal'. In addition, his side of "supposed"even smashed potatoes was very strange-looking and may not have been potatoes. It was too weird looking for either of us to taste, and did NOT resemble mashed potatoes of any ilk. I enjoyed my drumstick (HUGE) and the slaw also tasted good. I'd give a hard pass to the GF fried okra. The biscuits were hockey pucks by the time I got home with our food, and we could only eat half portions, After dinner my husband announced that he does not want ANY leftovers.
