Our chef for the evening, Derek, was a wealth of information. He could tell us where everything on our plates came from, from memory. He even described what made the wines work with the food and admitted he wasn't always a wine pairing believer, but has quickly become one. Our server, Amanda, was sweet, pleasant, and incredibly accommodating. This girl noticed me lifting my hair off my neck (those open woodfire grills add an extra level of heat to the kitchen) and brought me a hand fan FROM HER PURSE. That caused one of the kitchen team to notice and bring me an electric fan. Like I said, stellar service. Even the general manager, Dan, was involved in our service that evening. It truly felt like the entire team was paying attention and genuinely wanted us to have a wonderful experience. Would I recommend the restaurant? 100%. Would I recommend the Chef's Table experience? 1,000%. The restaurant was almost empty, with maybe one or two tables seated. Even when we left at 6:30, it wasn't even halfway filled, so I'm not sure why they suggest reservations. Maybe it gets busier on a Friday night. The 8-ounce filet mignon was $70, served à la carte, and we ordered sautéed mushrooms, which was $16 for less than a cup to share. I specifically asked for plain mushrooms. What arrived was a mix of different mushrooms absolutely covered in diced garlic. Apparently, "plain" and I have very different meanings here. The mushrooms were also cold and had been placed directly on my steak. So now my steak tasted like garlic and was cold, too. Then I tried cutting into it, and the steak knife could barely get through it. After a few attempts, I called the bartender over to show her, and she said she was going to get her manager. The manager came over and explained the type of Angus beef they served, but whatever its credentials, I still needed to be able to cut it. I even tried pulling a piece apart with my hands and couldn't. They replaced both the steak and the mushrooms. The replacement steak was very good, but it took about 15 minutes, and my husband had already finished eating by the time it arrived. I appreciate them correcting it, but having dinner together was part of the plan. The replacement mushrooms were plain as requested, but very dry, with none of the juices I normally get when cooking mushrooms at home or any other steak house that I've ordered, so it's eight mushrooms at They just didn't do much for me. They also serve complimentary cornbread in its own little cast-iron pan. Cute presentation, but I found it extremely dry and bland. And for anyone wondering, they don't have a happy hour. The second steak showed they could get it right. Unfortunately, between the first steak, the garlic-covered cold mushrooms, and eating after my husband was finished, I didn't feel the meal was worth the price.
