Stopped at Greene's Seafood Market for lunch and was not disappointed. What a sweet little gem in the heart of Bristol. Lots of variety choices to choose from. They have fresh and frozen products, too many to list here. I had the grouper sandwich with cheese, hush puppies and coleslaw. Loved the sandwich and cleaned the plate. The staff and waitress were fantastic. Very nice and helpful during my first visit. The waitress mentioned that if they have it, you can get it cooked to your liking. Wow--best kept secret for a yummy dine in seafood meal. Got the flounder lunch and it was so perfectly cooked. The fries are like boardwalk fries and comes w two hush puppies in the shape of onion rings. Nice coleslaw comes with it too and not vinegary which was good. I saw some others order a baked potato instead of fries. Also service was classic southern hospitality by all the folks there. Only downside is that they are open for lunch Tue-Fri only. Everything about this place is excellent. My favorite is the fried catfish. My friend said her blackened catfish was the best she's ever had. Tuesday is all you can eat fish. Only one bathroom but it's clean. The restaurant also has a seafood store where you can get your own seafood to cook at home. Can't say enough good things about this place. Soooo good! My husband and I are truckers just passing through. I'm a crab leg junkie and Greene's was the first place to pop up. I got 2lbs of snow crab legs I've been craving for the past two weeks and my husband got the fried fish and shrimp. Everything was outstanding! And those hush puppies are soooo addictive! Lastly, service was great! Our waitress was sweet and funny. This town doesn't really do Uber so you may catch a ride or two if you're passing through and that's your mode of transportation. We picked this place for two reasons. Looking for a reasonable priced place for fish and the reviews here on Yelp. They were not wrong. We pulled up at 3:30 in the afternoon (when most restaurants are quiet) and the lot was full, a very good sign. We were greeted by friendly staff with smiles. Seated promptly. They have lunch specials until 4 which is not seen in many places. I had the catfish my husband had the Alaskan white fish. Came with coleslaw, hush puppies and a side. The catfish was a nice thick fillet cooked just right. We had ours fried but they also grilled and blacken. The coleslaw was not sweet or to much vinegar. Our server was Morgan and she made recommendations and gave me cooking tips for the different fish they carry. They have a wonderful fresh fish counter that you can buy from. They carry lobster, scallops clams etc. The business has been there since the 80's. The owner is Marty and he took it over from his parents. When he heard it was our first time there he came out to say hi and told us about how the restaurant got its start. We stopped in from out of town for a race and were looking for some good local food, something that didn't exist back home. As we drove around, there was this little seafood place with a packed parking lot at 2pm on a Thursday. That was all the indication we needed to stop in, and glad we did. Our party of 3 split the catfish nuggets and crawfish appetizers to start. Both were perfectly cooked and seasoned, and we especially liked that they were not breaded the same. Each fish was coated in a breading that complemented the protein. The catfish had a light cornmeal breading while the crawfish had a light flour coating, almost like tempura. Delicious. They're also a deli, so we bought some breading to experiment with at home. We had to try the she crab soup, which was creamy and full of real crab meat. No surimi here! Entrees were deviled crabs, snapper, and tuna. All were great, with fries, hush puppies, and Cole slaw included. My deviled crabs were light and flavorful, my brother's tuna was beautifully seared, and his girlfriend's snapper even had a beautiful, crispy skin! Each dinner had generous portions of the good stuff as well. They don't skimp on the fish and try to dazzle you with a mountain of french fries. The owner spoke to us for a few minutes and was a great guy, very friendly and interesting. He travels often and told us about his visit to our home town recently. If you're in Bristol and looking for something better than the same chain restaurants, you have to stop here at least once, if not twice while you're here.
