I will be honest, although the name implies a seafood place; i go to get land animals! The prices reflect the quality of meat you are getting. I am from the Chicago area and miss my black angus steaks. This is the closest i can find in the area to provide quality beef. You can't ask for better staff every time i have been. They will talk with you and inform you in things that you don't know or understand about their products for sale. It does reasonable what you would expect from a fish market, and obviously the fish smell is there. So if that bugs you sorry, i am not a fan but it is what it is. read more

Sorry I'm not seeing it. We came here to get some fresh fish. I was hoping to maybe get some nice trout since it's pretty abundant in the area. Prices were very expensive and most of the fish they had on display were not local (and I'm not talking local to NC, most weren't even local to the country). There was really nothing that appealed to us. We were going to get a whole filet of trout that apparently flew all the way here from Norway or Sweden or something like that, but it was like $20+ per pound so we only ended up getting half, mainly just so it wasn't a wasted trip. However we can buy non-local trout at the local grocery store for less than that so I doubt we'll be back. They had some meat also, but again very expensive, cheaper to buy that from some of the local butcher shops or farms. read more

Super friendly and helpful staff. They have fresh Halibut (which is super hard to find in this area) and grouper as well as a great selection of other fresh fish and meats and more! I wish I would have discovered this place sooner. The pricing was reasonable especially considering the quality of the products - all fresh and definitely cheaper than Publix. I highly recommend this establishment to others, as I will most definitely be back as often as possible (even though I live half an hour away - it's totally worth the drive). Thank you all so much! Love love love that we can get fresh seafood in WNC!! We could not in Asheville area , alittle to far inland I guess. So far we have had , grouper , snapper , redfish, albaco Jack ( maybe wrong name) trout and the best crab cakes that I can remember having for along time. Also to all you key lime pie lovers... buy one here ! They get theirs from " Kenny's" in the fla keys. Honestly the best I have had, lived in SW fl for 21 years . All the fish is fresh , brought in daily . Kyle is very knowledgeable so feel free to ask questions. I am baffled that my family and friends don't come here I guess we are bigger fish eaters .sorry but I can't do that " fish camp " thing. Great Seafood and always fresh. I have never been disappointed. Try their Key Lime pie, it is excellent.

I have read the reviews and for those who say the products are not fresh are wrong.I have been a chef for 34 years and I know quality. They have a great local selection of fresh fish and meat. And for it being pricey, all I can say is you get what you pay for. Everything is expensive these days and especially for a small independently owned place like that. He doesn't have the purschasing power of a chain business so it costs him more. support local business and try them frenched chicken wings and you will never go back to store bought wings again!! read more

Ive got fish and shrimp from here many times, i have never been disappointed! The flounder here is some of the best ive ever had! Shrimp is always great! The staff are super helpful with any questions which is nice! I see some people making comments on the prices but as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for! So expensive! Fish is about $21 to $25/ lb. Fish looks good, but too expensive. Talked to him about Blue Claw crabs they were selling them by the pound, NOT a dozen $6.99/ lb. Wow! I shop at Dockside regularly. It is the best place in town to get fresh seafood to cook. They attempt to source much of their food from NC and the US which is why some of the prices are higher. The quality of the food is better than most restaurants and they also have a good selection of ready to eat appetizers and hot sauce. read more

My wife found this place while visiting a patient in Hickory. We had not had any fresh sea food in a while, so she stopped and picked up dinner for Friday night. She picked a pound of "NC shrimp" that were jumbo sized but what I thought was very pricey at $14 a lb. They were good though boiled in Zatarans Shrimp and Crab boil and eaten with our homemade spicy cocktail sauce. The oysters however were a big disappointment cause I really love oysters. I know when they buy them they don't know what size the oyster inside the shell is going to be, but at 80 cents an oyster, that was very expensive for oysters the size of a quarter. They were good, just super small for the price. We also love scallops, but had to pass on those at $23 a lb.! The meal was good with ice cold beer to wash it down. The sea food was good, but way over priced, as I have had sea food just as good for less money, so I don't think this place will a regular stop for us. Its a one and done! read more

Great selection of seafood. The staff is very pleasant and extremely helpful - great food preparation ideas. The freshest seafood my family has had. We are regulars. Prices may be a bit higher, but the quality is far superior than anything else you can buy. (and better than anything you can get in the finest of restaurants!) I had heard good things about this market. I went there for what I thought was fresh NC shrimp. I purchased 5 lbs for my son to take to his friends in Kansas. I told him they would be as good as what he could get at the beach, and a shorter drive. I purchased 1 lb for myself. I am very embarrassed he took the shrimp. I ate my the next day and the strong fish smell was so strong I could not eat them. I didn't want imported shrimp but after this experience I will take my chances. I gave them a two because the lady who helped me was very nice. I will not ever go back. read more
