Busy place with natical decor. Waitress were nice & attentive. Men got unlimited catfish for $21. If you like lots of food & everything fried, it's the place for you. Good ole southern style seafood. I'd come back here again.

The service was excellent. Waitress was very attentive to our group of six. I ordered a sides plate, mushy green beans, good corn, average sweet potato, ick side salad. 4 of the 6 of us liked their food. Only one of us ordered the unlimited catfish- grilled ( a plus) with seasoning on the side. She thoroughly enjoyed her meal. 90% of menu is fried, but you can get grilled chicken, shrimp and catfish which is a plus. The decor looks like really dirty Cracker Barrel-ish. I would not eat here again but the 4 others in my group would .

Absolutely love it here! Me, my mom, and my stepdad eat here all the time when we can and when we make a reservation we ask if Judy, our favorite waitress, is there, she's so nice, and food is always good, one day on my birthday, we asked judy if their shirts are on sell, turns out they sell shirts and she gave me one! Ambiance if nice and friendly!

Staff is very friendly. Large portions of food. Loved the appetizer fried mushrooms. My husband loved The catfish & black berry cobbler. I got the sea scallops & onion rings. We enjoyed our meals & the relaxing atmosphere. We will definitely go there again.

I've been eating here for several weeks now and can definitely say the food is well-prepared, delicious, and comes in good-sized portions. The chicken livers originally attracted my attention because I had had good chicken livers in many, many years. They have the largest selection ofcside dishes I've ever seen. The people are friendly and efficient. I'll keep going back and trying different things on the menu.

Parking is in a paved lot right in front of the building but there is more in the adjacent lot. The only problem is if you pull into the front lot but don't have a parking space you can't get to the adjacent lot without going back out onto the divided highway. The legal way to do this is turn left at the divider opening and go back towards Jonesboro about a block, then turn around at the next divider opening and turn into the adjacent lot. There could be an opening to the adjacent lot from the front lot but it is blocked off with a railroad tie. There is a handicapped space right in front of door. The parking spaces are not marked so you need to be considerate. This trip was for breakfast on a weekend, and the restaurant was about half full when we arrived. We were greeted as we walked in and told to sit anywhere. Seating is to the left and is all tables with few seats at a counter to the right as you walk in. Our server came by right away with the menu and took our drink orders. She brought the drinks quickly, but we needed a little more time to decide as the menu is decently large and diverse. She returned in an appropriate amount of time, the sign of a good server. Our food arrived about 10 minutes after ordering. The Magnificent Seven had two eggs (cooked slightly less than ordered, but not an issue), hash browns, two sausage patties, two small pancakes, and a biscuit. The biscuit was dry but would be fine with gravy. Everything else was quite good. Of note is the little jelly packets included seedless blackberry jelly and apple butter, a very nice change from the typical grape and strawberry offering at most restaurants. My dining partner selected the meat omelet, which also included toast. The omelet was large and completely filled with meat. It was a very good selection and very filling. There is background music playing which is noticeable but not loud. Conversation was very easy. The restaurant was mostly full by the time we left, but the servers still seemed to be keeping up, as was the kitchen. Overall, this was a good breakfast for a fair price, and we definitely plan to return.

The service from them, the speed at which the food was brought out was good, except for two dishes that were slow in coming. The interaction with the maître d was horrible! So - NEVER reserve a room well in advance at the Black Olive in Jonesborough TN . IF you do, make sure you add about 5 to ten extra people to your party (who may or may not actually be coming). That way, when you are seated in the reserved space, you actually have enough seating. WE reserved the space for 20 people well over a month ago, for five o'clock. We were later called and asked for an exact number. We told them we didn't know, but that maybe only 15 would show up, and we reserved for 20. So what did they do? They set three tables for us. Two pushed together and one alone. Where in reality, 12 people could fit. We had 18 people show up for my very special milestone birthday dinner. When we arrived, we were told they could not seat that many, that the rest of the room was reserved for another large party that would arrive in an hour. They allowed the overflow of our group to sit at two other tables in that room, while they were empty. BUT at 8 minutes to 6, we were told the other party had arrived, and those of our party that were sitting at the other table would have to leave! Thankfully, we had all finished eating, but had not had dessert which was supposed to be an entire carrot cake we ordered to be cut and served to all who wanted it within our party. The rest of the cake we were going to take home. Mind you, a whole carrot cake there costs $80.00! It was my birthday, and we weren't concerned about the price. When those of our party were told they would have to leave, the maitre d ' (a man with a man bun) started clearing all of their plates from the table. We were never asked if they wanted dessert! We kept reminding them about the cake. The waitress said she would cut it for us if we wanted. We did. She did not. There was never a cake brought to us. Thankfully, we were not charged for it either. Needless to say, we were told repeatedly before, during, and after our meal by this maître d that he had arranged seating for 15 people and that we had told him there would only be 15 - wrong. We told them 20. Plus, there is no way even 15 people could have fit into the seating he had arranged. Bottom report - we were not happy, but we will get over it. And for most of the 18 people who were there ---- we won't be back. It used to be my favorite restaurant in Jonesborough. I will no longer be there, nor recommend it. Our minister was part of our dinner party, and now he has a new sermon to work on.... Bad customer service and how not to let it escalate. We were never told any of the waitstaff's names. So I don't know who to tell you was a great waitress. On our way out to pay, the girls at the register were frustrated but friendly. When we got home, we realized that while we had paid for our almost $400.00 meal, we received receipts for two take-out orders. I hope those customers got their food for free, as when they arrived, there was no receipt for them.
