Went there for dinner and overall the food was very good but they do have a few problems. Because the place is so popular there is a line waiting for the doors to open. The restaurant gets full very quickly (in restaurant lingo they get slammed). With everyone seating at the same time your server is more challenged to attempt to give their attention to each table. Service begins slowly but then ramps up. The biggest bottleneck and issue that I see is paying the bill as they are using a system where one person located by the front door finalizes the bill and collects the money. When the server gives you the bill there are no numbers on the bill so you are not aware prior to leaving the table how much you owe and how much to tip. There is a waiting line to pay your bill. It took me about 15 minutes from the time I left the table to just be able to pay. That same person collecting money also handles takeout orders and splits bills, etc. In most restaurants the server handles the payments, I wonder why this restaurant uses this archaic system. read more

My husband and I heard wonderful things about Butcher's Block and those things were not wrong. We tried them out on a Saturday night for our anniversary. The atmosphere was casual and family friendly. Our server was very attentive, helpful and friendly. We started with the shrimp cocktail which was delicious with large shrimp. I also had the French onion soup and bacon wrapped filet mignon. My husband had the cowboy ribeye (I believe that was the name and it had Cajun seasoning). Everything was perfectly cooked and super delicious. The only thing I didn't care for was you don't know your meal total until they ring up your bill at the register (many of the steaks show as "market price" on the menu) and the amounts aren't shown on the handwritten bill. We had dinner here tonight. The food was very good but the service was impeccable. The ambiance was good as well except the rudeness of parents allowing their children to scream non stop. Then when told it was very rude, to be scolded and told "They are Children"... Not all parents allow this kind of behavior. Very inconsiderate to others dinning. I have eaten a lot of steak in my life, but this one may be the best. Highly recommended! I got the King Ribeye, salad, and baked potato. The steak seasoning was different than any I have ever had, but a good thing. I must admit as embarrassing as it is, I typically eat ketchup with my steak guy. The Butchers Block steak doesn't need any additional sauce. Very good- told my pal, if I am breathing air I will definitely be back again. My first trip here ...hopefully not my last. After we ordered a party behind us all ordered the Texas Tails- I didn't even see these on the menu- they did order the lunch portion size - So, I think those must have been great as well. My parents eat here often so I decided to take them out for my dad's birthday. My parents ordered the TX tails and my hubby and I ordered 8oz filets cooked medium plus. My hubs steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. My steak was extremely undercooked, probably closer to a medium rare. Our waitress never came and asked us how our meals were so I ate the outer part of the steak. No one really said much about their food until the end. Since we were paying my parents didn't want to complain but both their tails were well done and tough. They took their leftovers home for their dogs. All in all the restaurant is nice. The salad was great. Not sure I'd wanna eat here again though. If I did, I'd definitely order something different. read more

The staff were friendly and had food out to us piping hot. The rib eye steak flavor was so good... The onion rings were okay too! I wish we had the dessert special but we were to filled up to get it. We just moved to the area from Chicago and have been struggling to find restaurants we really like. The steak i had tonight lunch portion of texas tail, was truly one of the best steaks i have ever eaten. Seasoned perfectly, perfect rare cook, no steak sauce needed! And my salad was fresh( not bagged) with a homemade sweet/sour dressing that was delicious. This place does not look like much on outside but surely delivers excellent food at a reasonable price. We took our friends out too eat Friday evening for supper here and the food was Superb just like always here. I just have too say this is our favorite place too eat in Greeneville. If you are looking for food with the best flavor this is your spot. I always get the sweet BBQ Memphis Chicken Breast meal and it is delicious and I'm not a person who likes or eats steak but my husband and his best friend both got the Texas Tails meal and they both could not stop saying how delicious it was. He wouldn't hush until I tried a bite of it and I have too be honest it was so delicious. And this is coming from someone who does not like steak nor do I eat it. I honestly think I could eat those though. It was so very good. It did not have that tough, gets bigger as you chew it texture. It was so soft and smooth and had the best flavor. And my friend got the smothered chicken breast and she said it was so very yummy too. It is a little pricey but so very worth it and you definitely get your moneys worth. If you have never tried this place you definitely have too try it at least 1 time and you will be hooked on it. Waitresses are very nice and always do more than expected too help you with whatever you may need. Usually a wait there because everyone else loves it too. I came here based on a recommendation. I thought that was really good. I ordered my steak medium rare, and like David C,(other review) it came out medium. also what David, it was too good to pass up. I also had curly fries with a piece of perfectly buttered piece of toast and rice. My beverage was the typical sweet tea in which greatly appeased my thirst and taste buds. Every time the food is on point..staff a little overworked , could use more employees! Always call for a reservation on the weekends bc it is always busy...you can brown bag here which is rare for restaurants now a days! Only downfall is they close so early!!! Was really not impressed. Had the 14oz ribeye and French Onion Soup. The soup was ok but a little watery. The ribeye is my favorite steak, only thing better is a bone in ribeye. However, this was a plain ribeye. Over half of the 14ozs was fat. Big hunks of it. Not sure what they use for seasoning but it takes away from the flavor of the steak itself. Excellent quality of food as far as lunch service was concerned. The waitresses seemed polite and the atmosphere was comfortable for both a casual and upscale dining restaurant. The food arrived much quicker than expected considering the amount of people currently there. The only issue I had is that the lunch menu prices actually seem to match what the regular menu item would be for dinner so I ended up paying $10 for something labeled $7. It was still worth the money, but they may need to investigate their lunch menu and make sure the pricing is in order. My husband and I went into this restaurant for the first time because we heard it was good. We were lied to! We were seated next to a table of loud, obnoxious, rude people who yelled and cackled through our entire visit. The waitress seemed nice but she took our order then quickly disappeared. We waited 52 minutes for our waitress and our food to finally show up. We got crab cakes and scallops which looked delicious but tasted like a dirty grill. Then our waitress never came back to give us our bill and I had to hunt her down so I could pay for the terrible meal and get the hell out of there.
