    Soggy Tacos
    Blair E.

New to the area so decided to try Amigo for an early dinner. The place was clean and looked like a traditional Mexican restaurant. Menu pricing seemed good until you realized most meals do not include rice & beans and adding a side places some of their meals on the higher price scale. I took the servers recommendation to try the Soggy Tacos. This is basically a double decker style taco with a hard taco wrapped in a soft tortilla with cheese. The meat was a steak and chorizo blend. The meat had a good flavor but was extremely greasy, likely from the chorizo. They were fine but nothing special. The service was good and the server was friendly. As we both left we said there was nothing bad but nothing stood out. I'll keep looking as I don't see this as my regular stop for Mexican food

We are Shop Hopping today and decided to stop here to try this place out. We ordered chimichanga; and traditional quesadillas. They must have just cleaned vet strong chemical smell. The service was fine.

This place is big with decent seating capacity and took good care to follow COVID precautions. I drove here from Greeneville and this place is an average in the food rating. (3/5) The fajitas are a little too burnt and I wish they were a little less cooked. The quesadilla is a spot on and good. I would order these again.

I had the burrito with carnitas covered with queso. I thought it was pretty good. I mean I ate it all sooo.... The rice was good. My husband had the shrimp tacos which doesn't come with rice and beans but he said it was good. I'll definitely go back.

I put photos of the appetizers not our food. These were okay. I liked the guacamole it had a nice lime and cilantro flavor , it was not spicy. The other dip was good while hot, when it cooled off not so much(not spicy) . The salsa is ok but not spicy. I has the traditional shrimp tacos and they were decent the salsa was spicier than the salsa. The Chile relleno was awful, we could not even cut through the chili that is why 3 stars

Great happy hour pricing. Service good. Food bland but good once doctored up. Nothing really stood out about this place. Not many choices here in town for travelers.

I've eaten here twice already. The food is good and the restaurant is quiet before Five. It can get loud at times later in the evening.

We frequent amigos quite often. The food is a bit salty, but I quite enjoy it. The wait staff are not very customer-service oriented.

I usually go for tortas (carnitas, steak, or al pastor which is seasoned chopped pork) . With everything including pineapple, jalapeños, and extra green sauce. I'm told that the red sauce can be a little hot. I like it, but prefer the flavor of the green sauce. In the summer I love Aguas frescas. Pineapple is my favorite and they make a delicious example here. I got hooked on tortas honestly. Back when the world was a kinder place, a bunch of GIs would go to Ciudad Juarez on weekends. Partly because we weren't old enough to drink on our side of the Rio Grande. Fresh out of the combat zone, I would drink enough to believe that I could dance. There were three fun girls. Kayra, Kenya, and Keira. Blondes. They had their own money, but indulged me to buy the occasional drink or late night meal. They would navigate the back streets to the best places that I'd never be able to find on my own. Always tortas. I think they were trying to sober me up. Turns out that would take another 20+ years. El Lagunero takes me back a few decades in the best kind of way. I'm still in touch with most of the guys that served together then. I hope they enjoy a good torta from time to time.

There is handicapped parking close to the entrance door, so just watch as you are crossing the traffic lane. The host/ hostess counter is directly in front as you enter. We were greeted right away and taken to a booth. One bench cover was torn and the table had an annoying wiggle every time you changed positions. We also noticed the overhead music was slightly too loud. There were several other groups eating and we heard their conversations as they tried to talk over the music. Our server was very friendly and did his job well. He took our drink order and then gave us the right amount of time to make our selections. We received the chips and salsa just before our drinks arrived. The food took no more than 15 minutes after we placed the order to arrive. The salsa was disappointing. It had a strong tomato paste flavor. There were bits of onion and a few pieces of cilantro but neither of those flavors made it through. The carnitas was pretty good. The amount of pork was a bit less than expected but the flavor was good and it was very tender. The rice and refried beans were average at best. The salad was nice, with fresh lettuce, avocado and jalapeno slices, and tomatoes. The chicken and shrimp was also pretty good. The chicken had nice seasoning even without the cheese sauce and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. This dish had the same rice and refried beans. BTW, the accompanying tortillas were hot, so be careful as you unroll them. Other than the excellent service, the best part of this experience was the salsa bar. There were about eight different salsas to chose from. Each had a unique flavor and ranged in consistency from pico to creamy. One pico even included cactus. Any of these salsas were an improvement over the initial salsa and also made a great addition to the main meals. The bottom line for me is this is an average Mexican restaurant with above average service and salsa bar.

*KEEP IN MIND IM NOT FROM IN TOWN.*…read more We started with the house margaritas and the at-your-table guac, which was such a fun touch. The guac was super fresh and flavorful, and having it made right there just made the whole experience feel a little more special. The margaritas were strong (in a good way) and perfectly balanced--not too sweet. For the main, I got the deluxe burrito combo and it did not disappoint. Huge portions, packed with flavor, and everything tasted fresh. You can tell they don't cut corners on ingredients. Service was great, the vibe was lively, and overall it just felt like a solid go-to spot for good Mexican food and drinks. Definitely coming back.

For a unique spin, you're served a bean dip with the chips after being seated. The dip had a great flavor. I missed having salsa however and it wasn't until I asked that I learned there's a salsa bar next to the host stand. There they have both traditional red salsa and salsa verde. I preferred the salsa verde and the red was pretty thin. I ordered a hibiscus margarita to drink. They don't give you the margarita menu unless asked, but have a pretty good list. I didn't know at the time of ordering there's an up charge of $1.50 for a flavored margarita. I likely would have ordered it anyway, but would have been nice to know. For my entree, I did a combination of 2 with the enchilada suiza and burrito. Both were very good and I'd order them again. You also pick 2 sides. I went with the black beans as my bean choice. Nothing wrong with them, just ok in flavor and after also having bean dip, I didn't really eat them. I'm used to traditional Mexican rice but saw they had cotija Mashed potatoes. I'm a fan of contija cheese so wanted to try them, even though the server didn't really seem too impressed when I asked her about them. They were actually very good. A different option at a Mexican restaurant that I enjoyed. All in all, I would definitely recommend and return in the future
