We just left the Elizabethton location. The food and service were very good. We paid our server at our table, then finished our drinks and walked out. The gal working the register came running out the door after us, accusing us that we didn't pay our bill. Instead of asking our server first, she came after us. We are seniors and this was extremely embarrassing because there were other people out front who seen this happening to us. It's funny because as we were walking out, I told my husband, that from now on when we want carne asada, this is our place. NOW, WE WILL NEVER COME BACK!!! My husband and I visited Si Senor for the first time the evening of November 18, 2025, and everything was WONDERFUL! The bean dip served with the chips was surprisingly tasty (I don't care for black beans, but this stuff was yummy), the agua fresca mango drink was delicious, refreshing, and served in a pretty pottery mug, my enchiladas (ground beef, cheese) with rice and refried beans were very good, and my husband liked his California burrito so much he said he should have ordered another to go. I looked everywhere for a Mexican restaurant they had beef chile rellenos and after a long search between SC, NC and TN/VA I found it! They were delicious and I got refried beens and salad that was very crispy. The restaurant was nice inside and the server was excellent. When in the tri cities I will go again! Two words: Birria tacos. Best tacos I've had in my life so far and I've had a lot. There are two other locations in JC which serve them that I'll have to try. They also have a Birria quesadilla that I want to try. They are so friendly and the service is great. They don't have an alcohol license yet, which is a bummer, but they're working on it. The ambiance isn't bad. They're working on it. It was a former Mediterranean restaurant, so it still has a bit of that vibe. Their menu is a bit overwhelming, but I've eaten there twice and everything has been good. They have some vegetarian options. I love the food here. But I spent my 5 year wedding anniversary here and got the worst service on the planet. I was ignored most of my meal while I watched her go up to tables behind me and in front of me 6-8 times to the 1 time she came to my table. Food normally comes out nice and hot. I loved this place, but after my experience today I can no longer support this business or speak good about it. I ordered a quesbirria halfway through my quesadilla I bit into something hard, I thought maybe it was a bone, would've been no big deal, but as much as I wish it wasn't, I had gotten someone's nail that they bit off and spit in the food. Accidents absolutely happen but in a scenario like this there is no reason why this should've happened, lack of care and respect from the kitchen, raises a lot of concerns on how sanitary they are. I spoke with a manager, got my refund, offered to remake another but there is no way I'm ever eating anything from there again if they keep this same kitchen staff. read more

A great experience here. Decor is pretty standard. Everything was clean. Everything was greatly flavorful. If you eat at a lot of Mexican restaurants you know not to expect much out of the rice. It's ok to expect the rice to be really good here. Very well seasoned rice that was cooked well. I had carnitas tacos and it was one of the best carnitas I have ever had. I'm like Jonny depp (cept I don't kill the cook), I try carnitas in every restaurant so I've had lots. I was happy to see they served a bean dip with the chips. Like everything else it had a pleasing and unique flavor that was more than just bean flavor. The salsa was good if not terribly unique. I was a little disappointed with the taco shells though. They seemed preformed and were mad with a very thin tortilla so the kinda shattered. The reason I decided to come here was the pics of tacos that had obviously handmade shells. This is authentic Mexican food and its very different than the normal variety around the Tri Cities. I know this place is going to do very well in the area and it absolutely blows its competition down the road out of the water!!! THIS IS THE BEST RESTAURANT IN GRAY. The food is absolutely to die for, I've had the tacos, enchiladas and my absolute favorite, the fajita bowl. They start you off with free chips with salsa and a bean dip(10/10). The service has been great every time I have visited, attentive and helpful with recommendations. The restaurant itself is clean and appropriately decorated. They can easily accommodate parties. The only con I have is that they do not serve alcohol. I was so disappointed. I arrived at 11:05 am, but was alone. Though there were five open four tops and three empty booths on the open side, they couldn't accommodate me to dine in. (For the record, I was fashionably but simply dressed, I'm not obese or ugly. I'm a late middle aged woman, but I carry a small oxygen tank). My son is a chef at a Michelin star restaurant in DC who started out at a Fuddrucker's in high school and he pointed out that in Washington DC, a refusal to seat a single person would get you a lawsuit there. But no matter, I refused to forced into a Taco Bell, so I asked to see a menu for take out. I had read raves about the birria tacos and asked if they could sub a flour tortilla instead of corn on a build your own platter? Yes they said. I asked for two of them. Added a beef chili relleno, and beans & Mexican rice on the side, plus a go cup of water. No chips please because of my corn allergy. Got home and found a pair of corn tortillas with three tiny pieces of dry birria beef (the mostly grease liquid was in a lidded cup). Cilantro and onion were fresh and nice. Chili relleno was unidentifiable under a sea of liquid beans. Finally located a bit of ground beef, several dried chili stem pieces, some stringy stuff which I think must've been a very very old dried up canned chili but it wasn't edible. Just strings. Definitely not a poblano pepper like you'd get in a normal Mexican restaurant, nothing breaded. Nothing like an actual chili relleno. Honestly, I've never been served anything like this before. There was NO rice at all. Beans were surprisingly un-beany and I suspect were actually reconstituted from dried. I've eaten these before and these were even more flavorless than my previous food service refried beans experience. There was a pleasant cilantro based sauce similar to an aji sauce in flavor in a tiny container and some standard issue red salsa in another. No water. This place had been recommended to me over my usual Mexican fave La Carreta which is right down the road (and where I've eaten as a single in a booth no problem on a Friday night!), but I wouldn't want a repeat of THIS lunch, ever. I've decided that the refusal to seat me was a kind of FU from this restaurant to guarantee that I never return. But why? Are people approaching sixty not supposed to eat out? There was a pair of construction workers there, and a pair of women in a booth, plus one young couple. Is this place striving for an exclusive crowd in Gray?? Was the fellow acting as 'gatekeeper' actually inexperienced? Was the server unable to handle three tables plus a single? Who knows. No explanation was offered. This is a cautionary review. If you want to pay $17 for a tablespoon of meat pieces, a tablespoon of ground beef in flavorless beany liquid, this is the place for you. read more

This place was new to us since our last trip to the area but it was so good we went back again after the first time! The first night I had the Chicken Cecina which is chicken in mole sauce and my husband had enchiladas verdes. The next evening my daughter and her oldest came up and we took them there. All of us had some variety of enchiladas except my husband who had one of the burrito varieties. The food is great and so is the service. I hope the place has a long run! read more
