Today my daughter and I shared the PR Cuban and PR Explosion, both delicious and very different from each other. The sauce on the Explosion is like nothing I've ever tasted (in a great way). I got the hot sauce on the side since I don't like too much spice (oh boy it's spicy) but I couldn't get enough of it. Apparently the menu changes, so I'm looking forward to what I find on my next visit.

Traveled over 14 hrs from the NY city area to find an amazing food truck in Johnson City. Found a very happy crew; the air engulfed in a delish aroma of mix Peruvian/ Puerto Rican food. While I waited to be serve I overheard comments of everyone anxious to order: all A+. When my time came, I had a chance to pleasure every clusters and nerve endings of my tongue and sense of taste. To the point that I had to come the next day to try something else. Good portions- good price, and overall great gourmet experience. My complements to the chef!

Best food in Johnson City and maybe the best Caribbean food I've had anywhere (even in the Caribbean itself)! They don't hold back on flavors and serve large, hearty dishes. You honestly can't go wrong with any of the dishes on the menu. Since they're a small business, their hours sometimes shift a little but they are very diligent at posting these updates on their Facebook page.

Discovered this place two years ago, and I'm SO glad I did. My partner is from Puerto Rico and introduced me to to the rich cuisine, years back. I joke that him and his family have ruined me when it comes to food authenticity. Many of my favorite Caribbean and Hispanic food joints tasted like garbage after having the real deal But, let me tell you! This place does not disappoint. The food is so full of flavor, I have yet to try anything that is not impeccable. The menu is constantly changing, which makes each trip a new experience. It quickly became my favorite restaurant, food truck, joint, whatevs. Not to mention, David, the owner, is one of the funniest, most creative, and nicest dudes you will ever meet!

This was the menu for today. I'm new to Johnson City and love this type of food. It really didn't disappoint! The Jerk Chicken platter was amazing and so much food. Couldn't get close to finishing it. You could easily share this between 2 people. Highly recommend this place and I will be back. Can't wait to try everything on the menu and see what else they come up with

Quite possibly the best food truck in JC. I don't go nearly as much as I would like because their menu is primarily grilled meats and I don't eat meat. Their menu consists if whatever they cooked up that day and they post on FB as soon as they open up. Today I saw they had a jerk egg salad sandwich and a guacamole side so I made sure to show up for that. Of course the portion sizes are HUGE. You know you are being fed by someone who likes to eat when you get this much food. When I first took a bite of the guacamole, I almost fainted. It was seriously that good. I was excited to be able to get some non-meat items so I hope they continue that. I do often crave Caribbean flavors and this is some of the best I have tried. I love the food here. It's always fresh and hot and tastes great. Our waitress was very helpful and kind. She always kept a smile on her face. During dinner time and peak times, it can be a little loud but nothing that would drive you away. read more

Holy F***! This is a rare find in Johnson City. The owners are fantastic and the food is incredible! I had the PR Cuban sandwich. It was flavorful and a very nice portion. While waiting, they offered samples of a couple of other dishes, and they were equally great. I highly recommend, and will definitely be back the next time I come through on business! read more

So the fam and I decided to give this place a try. My daughter and her bf ordered the Cuban, which they allowed as a really good sandwich. I tried the PR Explosion, which had a sweet yet tangy BBQ sauce on pork BBQ, with sweet slaw. Outstanding! My wife had the "secret menu" item (displayed prominently on the menu board, natch) which was crabmeat and shrimp soup, which was fantastic. It was about 2/3's of a quart of soup, which was enough for everyone to try. The pita chips were plentiful and good foe dipping in the soup. Good portion size, and everyone was happy with what they got. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Been there twice now and loved both experiences. The last visit we got the Cuban sandwich. Absolutely awesome! Great tasting meat and spices on a baguette that had just the right chewiness to the crust. We are fortunate to have their fixed location right around the corner from our condo. I am sure they will be a regular on our lunch plans. read more

I have only eaten from a few food trucks and this one was by far the best. If this was a brick and mortar restaurant it would make it to my favorite list. Unique flavor combinations, quality and value make this a winner. Fast service and fresh taste! read more

Love this little hut! My first taste of Cuban food and it was out of this world! One of my good friends also worked here some time ago, and he is the one who recommended us to try it out. So worth it! You just have to catch em when they are open which can be tricky! read more

Some of the friendliest people I met while in TN! The food was amazing, we had chicken with slaw, beans & rice, and salty plantains. The tea was great! If I'm ever back in town I will stop. We were on vacation from Indiana, if this place was back at home I'd eat there every week! read more

AMAZING. As I type this review, I am currently eating the Pork GyroFries, Empanada Beef, and the Chicken Fajita. As a world traveler, I have tasted food in the Caribbean and I have to say, there is no match to this place nestled away in little Johnson City, TN. The pork is to die for... My half Philly was about 4 inches long and I had barely a handful of fries. I don't understand how they could have been such a hit with their food truck with such paltry portions and long wait times. Navigating the overall experience was a little confusing. There's a clearly visible coffee menu above the counter, but the food menu is somewhat hidden. Fortunately, a staff member noticed my confusion and handed me a menu. There are also portions of the menu that are only available after 11am, and that's not clear on either the menu or the web site. Fine. In terms of food, I ordered a greek crepe with a half greek salad on the side. The salad was good, but not exceptional. Fresh. Crisp. Pre-sliced tomatoes for easy navigation. Probably a little too much feta. The crepe was interesting. It was almost a crepe burrito with greek filling. It was honestly on the heavy side. More crepe than filling, with an extra dusting of cheese on top. In terms of coffee, I would say middling. It wasn't bad coffee. It also wasn't good coffee. Overly bitter and one dimensional. On the other hand, they served the coffee in an oversized ceramic mug, which added some character and quality. Overall, this was a reasonable place to stop for a quick breakfast on a road trip. It wasn't exceptional, and there were some surprises along the way, but the overall experience was fine. It works as a quick pit stop.

It feels like the owners opened before they were ready. All in all it was a standard restaurant experience in Johnson city.

I ordered some Chips and Queso from White Duck Tacos along with some other sauces for less than $10 bucks. Queso was a little soupy but other than that, it went well with the beers. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff.. kudos to the beertender for taking care of my order and making sure I had water as well. Would definitely go back!

Through one visit, this seems like the sort of place where everything is good. It's a bit pricy ($9-13 entrees), but it comes with so much food that you could easily split. The owner is Puerto Rican, but he takes the traditional styles as inspiration instead of recreating them one-to-one, and the results are fantastic. The explosion sandwich is a delicious mix of moist pulled pork, sweet slaw, something mayo-adjacent, and sweet jerk sauce, served with fried tortilla strips dusted with the owner's own blend of jerk seasoning that honestly have no right being as good as they are. The pork chops in jerk sauce are flavorful and fall-off-the-bone tender--a bit on the fatty side (which is not a complaint when the fat is so tender and melted, just something to be aware of, as tastes vary), but absolutely delicious. Love, love, love this place...have been a customer for 3 years! Awesome Cuban sandwich (with their own twist), Cuban dog (creative & amazing), beef empanadas, and every platter I've had left me happy, satisfied, and often with enough leftovers for 2 more meals. The roast pork is like nothing you've ever had...not even your Puerto Rican grandmother makes it this good. Jerk tots (with THE BEST dipping sauce) are a yummy indulgence. Aside from the food, the people who own & run this place are super-friendly & so generous & nice. We are fans for life! Keep up the good work--JC is lucky to have you! read more

You have to know their hours, but this place is great. Great people, nice seating and the food is fantastic. They do their food just right. They honestly are the best place in town, regardless of food genre. I know that's apples-to-oranges, but no one else gets their style as close to perfection as The Caribbean Grill gets theirs. You could have anything and enjoy it, but if you're looking for a recommendation, try the Cuban Fries. read more
