Came in for brunch on Memorial Day and so glad we did. We live around the corner and were excited for the neighborhood's new addition. French West Indian Cafe with beautiful West African art and great food. Our server Katherine guided us through the menu and were not disappointed. Excellent food. Hard to find food delivery in BedStuy compared to other BKLN neighborhoods. Not sure why. So with this place as with many, one is forced to use GrubHub. [This is a new thing Yelp is doing -- actively promoting the use of GrubHub versus just calling a place and ordering. I get it. Yelp needs to make money since it's a free service. So we can't fault them for that. But not being able to call and order from the restaurant directly poses obvious challenges for sure. At the same time it did work. You'll pay a bit more for using GrubHub. But worth it if you want to eat in.] The food here is a creative and healthy twist on American fare. They don't have a ton of options. But what they do have is very good. We found it to be very high quality and very tasty. Will definitely frequent this place and try everything. The burger was exceptional. The best burger I've had in a long time! The Zaca burger comes with a bunch of tasty toppings and the meat is well seasoned and expertly cooked. Brioche bun, tons of great fries... While eating I couldn't help continually scanning the menu on the wall to behind my dining mate, already excited to come in and try something else. I ordered that with a side of bacon and eggs (that didn't come ) and a strawberry mango smoothie (It looked like carrot to me lol & it didn't have much of a taste but I drank it all) when I opened my container the size of the chicken breast was the size of my face lol it was HUGE!!! Everything was delicious! Later on that day I definitely ordered again for dinner ! My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach ! I wanted to try the broccoli the yellow rice the slow cooked mashed the asparagus the fish & fries the steak the pot pie and the chili salmon and the iced tea (although it looked like iced coffee or raw apple juice and it did not taste like iced tea at all ) .... and guess what? I DID I ordered all of it to share with my mom! Everything was amazing ! The Salmon OMGGGGG I Wish It was a bigger piece it was soooo delicious I'd order that every time, also that was some of the best yellow rice I've had, it was flavorful and complimented the salmon so well!! I ordered an omelette and a cold brew and ended up waiting over an hour, only to see the wrong coffee order and that the utensils package had already been opened and was missing a fork! I called and the owner and staff were very helpful and quickly sent over a new coffee, which I really appreciated! Then I began to eat my food and found plastic tape in my salad.... Overall the omelette was good, I don't know if today was an off day? But I probably won't be ordering delivery from here again. read more

This place is cozy, friendly, and has amazing food. We came for brunch and I had the zaca platter, which is tomati jam, salsa verde, cheese grits, toast and 2 eggs. It was filling, creamy and the salsa and jam were exactly the right amount. My husband had the ham and cheese croissant which was the best he has ever had. It was not dry, nice cheese on top. This was a pretty average brunch experience. We ordered a chai latte (which was very good but very sweet), the western omelette, mac and cheese, and the chicken and waffles. The chicken and waffles were definitely the best --nice flavor and a good fried texture. The omelette was a deep golden brown (which is way over cooked for an omelette and over cooked eggs to me tastes a bit like wet dog). The mac and cheese was also disappointing, bland bechamel coated noodles with a spattering of bland cheddar on top. As a lover of mac and cheese, I would not recommend.
