Just moved to the Bonsall and had no idea this hidden gem existed! First off, it's definitely a cafe/diner but totally elevated. The ribeye was insanely delicious as well as the rest of the food, but the desserts took the cake! I wanted to leave 4 stars due to long black hair in our sushi roll that wasn't taken off the bill but everything else was so good and everyone was so helpful that I had to leave 5. My wife and I stopped here on our way San Luis Rey hospital to pick up our horse. When the waitress took our order , my wife asked for the Carne Asada plate and even pointed at it on the menu. The young waitress did not write our order down , she relied on her memory. So , ofcourse , she got one of the orders wrong because she didn't WRITE IT DOWN ! I sat there and ate while my wife sat there for 10 more minutes with no food because of the waitresses incompetence. Lame , just write the damn orders down , it's that simple. The waitress did not even apologize ! She actually had a bit of an attitude about it. My Huevos Rancheros was ok , the sauce they put on it was a little slimy and not very good. When my wife finally got her meal , it was just ok as well. At least the hostess was sweet. I don't think we'll be back. read more

I had the coconut shrimp with mango sauce and it was fantastic fresh and the mango sauce had a lovely bite at the end... And I because I don't eat bread I had the pork Bao over fresh slaw that really was the best I've ever had! Portions are generous and the staff is friendly. Normally decent to good but this morning was off. I ordered the Bonsall Breakfast Burrito with added avocado. Burrito was small and I think I tasted one tiny piece of dice of bacon, maybe one total thin circle cut of sausage. The green pepper both in the burrito and the side of cottage fries were basically raw. The cottage potato's needed to be cooked more and I remember them cooked more and seasoned. A very bland order overall. They can do better. Also $2 for avocado. read more

Air Conditioning does not work with patio doors open, Inside just as Hot as outside. Someone needs to tell Staff that A/C will not work properly with patio doors open. A/C Systems are designed to work with intermittent opening and closing of doors, these are considered losses, and are calculated into A/C design. If you just prop open doors, that is not calculated into design. Please either upgrade A/C System to work with doors open or instruct Staff to keep closed during hot weather. It can be comfortable for everyone, inside or out. read more

Found this place on our way home from San Diego. Super cute Cafe with a nice patio. Great service staff was very friendly and our waitress Viviana made sure our drinks were topped off. I had the French toast Combo. This includes a piece of French toast, two eggs over medium(cooked prefect) and crispy bacon. To drink I had a tasty white chocolate Mocha. My husband enjoyed his California Omelette with a side of hash browns and perfectly buttered wheat toast. To drInk he had and Arnold Palmer with just the right amount of lemonade and Ice tea. So happy we stopped here, would definitely eat here again. read more

We checked this place out after attending a wedding. The place was very cool as it felt like an art gallery inside a restaurant. There were also pieces of art as you walked in. I really like the laid back atmosphere inside the restaurant. The TVs were showing sports and there's a full bar. The food was pretty good. I ordered a loco moco and it was pretty decent. The party was a little blend but overall it was decent. I thought the price was a little expensive for a restaurant so remote. But otherwise this was a fine place to stop and grab a bite before hitting the road. read more

We used to love this place, but it has gotten worst over the years. The last few times we have ate here, the service was horrible, our orders were wrong, or the service was ridiculously slow. This last trip, my wife wanted to get what she always gets in the trio plate of 1/2 sandwich, salad, and soup. They told her she couldn't get it because it was past 5pm (it was 5:08pm). She then ordered the BBQ chicken Hawaiian bowl and asked for no broccoli (her allergies). The bowl comes out with a ton of broccoli and the attitude was like she didn't care. To add to the disappointment, our drinks were not even refilled. Needless to say, we will not be back. read more
