The burger wars have bored me. There are so many chains. Z Burger in McLean is solid. Is it expensive? Absolutely but it is in perhaps, the richest part of northern Virginia. One area that sticks out, is how fresh their never frozen beef is. A quite tasty burger, lots of fries. Definitely try one of their real ice cream shakes. Impressive! Extremely friendly employees. The customer service aspect is incredible. Props also on an extremely clean dining area. As long as you remember a little pricey, you are getting good quality here. Let's start with the good part of this restaurant: the kids love it and you have another restaurant (Mamma Joon) for adults that want to have Persian cuisine instead of burgers and hot dogs. The burger pros: I liked that there were so many toppings to choose from and the toasted bun is perfection. The burger cons: the patty is very thin and my husband and I both got a very dry one. Their burgers, fries, and shakes are tasty but not quite Five Guys level. Their Persian food is decent but not quite Moby Dick level. This is not.a bad place. Burgers are good. But I do have some issues with it. When I. First went here, it was real busy. Now when I go, not so much. Why??? I think employee training. You can walk in, have cooks and others look at you and not acknowledge you and the attitude I get is they don't want to be there. I bought a Reeses Pieces concrete last time I was there. They spun it in the mixer for so long, all the candy was in very small shards, which actually was great. But I experienced a taste I have not since I was a kid. Model train oil or electric razor oil. My only critiques are that the burger was not crispy to my liking and they missed the barbecue sauce I ordered. If you like Five Guys and are craving a burger, this is the spot. For 3 people the price was around $50 before tip, that includes a drink and a milkshake. Do not order the large fries unless you have 4 hungry people! We ordered it and it was way too much for us. Also, as a huge Dr. Pepper fan I was shocked when we moved. Z-Burger is the only restaurant with it and a few other Panera style juices. The milkshake was good and they have I think 75 flavors so there must be one for you. This Mclean location shares space with a kitchen for their other Wisconsin Ave. culinary property, Maman Joon, a Persian style kebab that is head and shoulders above the local competitions such as Moby Dick. Finally, an alternative to McDonald's in McLean...Prices are higher, but I'll take that as the price to pay to NOT have to drive to Tysons and fight for parking to get a Shake Shack meal. Plus, I should probably just walk there, as the burger alone is very filling. I had a loaded bacon double cheeseburger and it was as good as a ShackBurger.
