We went there yesterday after not going for over 9 years. Now I know why, that was the WORST BUFFET I ever had. Everything was cold and looked like it had been sitting there all day. The best thing I ate was the dinner roll and the ice cream cone. Then my grand daughter had a long black hair in her tempura fried chicken. We gave it to the waitress and I told her the food was horrible. She went to her manger and told him he said they would only charge us for 2 buffets instead of the 3. This buffet gets its rating because of the wonderful staff and the size of the restaurant. The variety is quite large; three long, double sided, serving stations) The place is very fancy looking and clean, perfect for a larger gathering. They have a soft serve machine, bananas in red sauce, almond cookies (best I've had; soft and delicious), tiramisu ( the ones Chinese buffets have, not traditional tiramisu), pizza, chicken on a stick (amazing), fried foods, noodles, and soups (wonton, egg drop, and sweet and sour). Not as bad as what people claim it is. We expected worse - but wanted a slew of Chinese food and got a great experience to boot. We went on a Sunday. Meatballs are great, the chicken broccoli is fantastic, and the seafood salad was perfection. Service was great, bathrooms were clean. Will be back at some point. So I normally enjoy the food and general atmosphere of this rather large, mostly "Chinese " buffet and the food is still quite appetizing . However, I would like to make a suggestion if you go there, be sure you go in with cash. Today at lunch during the heavy downpour and stormy conditions, I was advised "no card, is cash only" on the way out. There's no sign and no one advised customers of this as we came in. So we all had to wade through the flooded parking lot and go to the bank and back. Myself and other customers told they guy he needs a sign and he just nods and smiles, saying 'ya, no card'.. also the waitress walked around with her cell phone in her pocket on speaker on full blast while she was on hold with AT&T. We went around 6:30 on a Thursday and everything tasted as if it stayed in the warmers too long. Nothing was good...,the hot and sour soup was darker than I've ever seen it. The rice had way too many onions, egg rolls were mushy inside, rice noodles were almost transparent, coconut shrimp was dry, not many choices for chicken, no sesame or honey and the general Taos chicken was terrible. I have never been at a Chinese buffet and had plates stacked up until this location, where our server stood nearby on her cell phone...no refills or anything. What a shame!! I usually like this place but tonight, we get here 45 minutes before closing and get charged full price with all the food looking dry, and many of the pans completely empty. Honestly, if you plan on stopping the production of food for your buffet in the last hour of business at least let people know so they can order off your menu. I've probably eaten at over 100 buffets over the years and Yun Lon Buffet is by far the best! Their food is always fresh and tasty. The service is excellent and every time I go the owner is there making sure the customers are happy.
