Based on three visits, this place has the best take out in the area. I see where a couple of people were pretty critical. Yummy Taco is a fast food place - not gourmet, but as such, does a great job at low prices. If you want fantastic sit - down more expensive Mexican food, try cafe Maya across the river. But if you want great quick mexican, Yummy Taco is the ticket, as it beats the pants off Taco Bell. Try the steak or chicken tacos and the burrito - you will never again go to Taco Bell. read more

If it was Mexican and Asian you are definitely someone who thinks outside of the box... Or you're the owner of Yummy Taco in Newburgh. Menu options in this restaurant range from your traditional tacos and burritos to chicken teriyaki and other Asian inspired dishes. I was in a Mexican mood this afternoon and decided to try the Tex Mex Burrito. A ground beef burrito served chili style with all the usual fixins. Once I was able to get past my original skepticism of this place, the food turned out to be quite good. The burrito fell apart fairly quickly into eating it, despite my efforts to keep it together. This is a bit if a pet peeve of mine, but I let it slide because the content kept me satisfied even with a fork. For any of you reading this who have ever had a burrito at "Free Birds," you probably know how awesome it is when a over stuffed burrito stays together perfectly (for those of you who have never had free birds, look up the locations and if you're ever in one of those cities.. Get it). Anyway I've started off topic... This is definitely a cut above other Mexican spots we've had in this area (avocado's, chapala grill, etc) and will be making this my office lunch preference when it comes to Mexican food. I like to eat out and try new things but this was most certainly the most disgusting meal I and my husband have had. We didn't pay a lot for it so that's something that helps me sleep at night but the food was not good. This combination of Asian and Hispanic food perhaps could be good, but not here. The chicken I had was chewy and stringy , the tortillas were too moist and fell apart and overall nothing had good flavor. Maybe we both got two of the worst things on the menu , but it was so unappetizing I just can't get myself to pay money to try it again. read more

Decided to try the Yummy Taco one evening during a craving for a burrito. After living in the home of burritos, San Diego, I am certainly wary of trying a burrito anywhere else. From the first bite into the chorizo, yes went non traditional, this burrito tasted on par with some of the authentic mexican food I was accustomed to eating in SoCal. The steak was like leather and the burrito could not be picked up without falling apart. Had lunch with my wife on a Saturday. Not very busy at all. The front area was very clean and neatly organized. We felt very comfortable eating in. I had the super burrito and my wife had the chicken taquitos. We got our money's worth. Very reasonable prices for the amount of food you receive. The flavors were okay. I have certainly had better Mexican food but for a midday stop for lunch it was good. I would be very disappointed if I came here expecting great fast Mexican food. If you plan for delivery please call and confirm with them even if they have delivered multiple times previously. They have delivered many of times to my house and all of a sudden they now don't but then you call them a week later and they do. Just a little confused. read more

The portions are generous and everything is hot and fresh, my only criticism was that the burrito was too big and the tortilla was top soft so it fell apart, but it was super good and I just ate it with a fork. read more

Was OK. I just went once, I ordered 3 tex-mex (beef) tacos. They were really nice-sized tacos but all three shells fell apart so that I was basically left with taco and tortilla salads. I drove right home to eat, 10 min, so they weren't sitting long. Maybe the meat is just too saucy for the shells (there was a lot of juice): The tacos [also] had a kind of sweet taste. Nothing bad at all (meat or quality-wise), just not mexican- more what I'd imagine Japanese (tacos) would taste like. Unless you live right in the city of Newburgh, or near the New Windsor/Vails Gate border, it's pretty hard to find any noteworthy Mexican take-out. We were pleasantly surprised to see this place open up in the Target plaza (not too far of a ride, and they even deliver) so decided to give it a try recently. Well, it's obviously family owned, but they are either Korean/Japanese, not Mexican at all. The set up inside is exactly like a Chinese take-out joint, though with a neat looking tortilla press right behind the counter. The menu is extensive, with a wide variety of tacos, burritos, enchiladas, etc, as well as some Asian appetizers and noodle dishes & soups. Kind of odd. We ordered some chimichangas and enchiladas...to be honest, it wasn't very good. The chimichangas looked and tasted like egg rolls, and the chicken inside was obviously grilled and just broken apart, as opposed to shredded after lengthy cooking which is how it is served in most traditional Mexican restaurants. The yellow rice was bland, the beans decent but hardly any were given, and the guacamole actually pretty good. The cheese that covered the chimichangas was cold & rubbery by the time we sat down to eat. My wife's enchiladas were open like a taco, had little sauce on them, and didn't even look like they were cooked. The flavors also weren't Mexican at all, not a hint of cilantro or spice anywhere to be found. Yes, there was a strong Asian flavor to the chicken as well, which was cooked well, but nothing seemed to go together well. No harmony of flavors, nothing to set your taste buds alive like good Mexican food does. The fresh tortillas are a good idea, but they kind of reminded us of the Moo Shoo pancakes that you get in Chinese restaurants. I give these folks credit for trying something like this, and perhaps to many people this place will be a hit, but if you are looking for tasty, authentic Mexican fare, this won't be the place for you. Finally had a chance to try this place and it is really good! Hubby and I shared the following: Gyoza or Fried Dumplings - really good, light and crispy; Chicken & Beef Nachos - awesome - nice light chips, the meat was flavored really well and of good quality - just needed a bit more cheese; Steak & Jack Cheese Quesadillas - great - lots of cheese and meat; Beef Tacos - nicely stuffed Tacos and they use a slightly larger taco shell with a rounded bottom so nothing falls out; Steak Burrito - great - hugely stuffed with meat, rice, beans, etc.; Beef Enchilada - best of all of them - large soft tortilla with steak (guess you can tell we like our steak, eh?) and onions inside topped with lots of cheese, comes with guacamole, sour cream and rice and beans on the side - a really good, filling meal.
