Worst experience. We got seated and waited 25 mins for someone to come to our table. I ended up just scanning the code on the table and ordering and I got in trouble for it because apparently you're not supposed to order using the QR code- even though that's an option on the table. Half the stuff we ordered we didn't receive. Half the rolls came with wasabi and ginger, the others didn't. One of my husband's sushi rolls came with a random half piece of calamari that wasn't supposed to be on it. I ordered spicy tuna and got salmon instead with ZERO sauce on it. Our spicy girl rolls had no pepper tuna in it which was supposed to be the star of the roll. When we went to order more sushi we were told the kitchen was closing so we couldn't order anymore sushi by one waiter and then 15 mins later another waiter came by and asked if we wanted to order more and when we said we were told the kitchen was closing, she said it wasn't. This place is a disaster and when I mentioned the sushi wasn't good our waitress told us "yes, they're cheap here". So is the food bad quality? What is that supposed to mean. We were promised we were going to be given a discount for the inconvenience but when it came time to getting the check she said the manager didn't feel like it was justified. What in the world kind of service is that? I also ordered a green tea and my tea cup smelled like sewer water. She said she'd bring me a new cup and never did. We also had to eat with our fingers the first couple of rolls because she forgot to bring us chopsticks or forks. $135 for food we didn't order, missing food, horrible service and a scolding from ordering from their QR codes on the table THAT SAY SCAN TO ORDER. It was about 15 minutes for someone to come to our table to order our drinks and appetizers. Staff doesn't clear plates/tables, we were running out of space so we put our plates on the table next to us and we got scolded for dirtying up a clean table... They don't take your order for meats you have to get up and get it yourself from the fridge. Self service bar is very tiny. Ice cream was freezer burnt/melted together. After we got seated we waited another 20 minutes or so for the server to give up a "tour" and let us know how things work. This is self serve from getting your own meats to turning on your own burner. Honestly if that would've been stated when we sat it could have saved so much time. We ended up moving dirty dishes to a clean table because there were no dishes being picked up. Then got scolded for it because we were dirtying up a table. I guess I understand because it seems like no one wants to work or is even hired here besides the front desk. Our party then sat for another 20-30 minutes waiting to pay. After we all get up and migrate to the front desk the server comes running from the back. Hard pass. Do yourself the favor, skip this place and go to Jpot instead. First, service is horribly slow, which makes no sense because the meat/veggies/sauces are self serve. We waited about 10 mins after the "tour" for the grills to be turned on, no refills on empty drinks, and no one came to pick up dirty empty plates/trays. I ended having to put them on a different table and was told please don't do that... but we had a table full of trash. Next, the quality of the food was not good. The meats were too fatty, the rice on the sushi was soggy, even the ice cream had freezer burn and were all stuck together. They will only allow you a 2 hour window for the all you can eat which is understandable but it over 30 minutes for them to turn on your burners. The meat and veggies are all self serve. In the 2 hour down we never got a single drink refill. The restaurant had 1 other table being seated so our service shouldn't have been so non-existent. The food was the worst part. Our sushi orders were wrong most the time. The spicy tuna roll was some of the nastiest sushi I've ever had. It was the mushiest rice and the entire roll tasted burnt. So first the positive things. We were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and food quality. We did the "all you can eat sushi" and appetizers which was really good. We were seated immediately and didn't wait very long for the courses to start arriving. Now the not so good. The waiter was terrible. If I didn't ask if they offered seaweed salad I never would have know a separate salad bar existed as it was completely unable to see from the section where we were seated. Since the location is new you would think the server would ask if we knew how things worked. We ordered a few appetizers throughout the meal and had to remind the server twice we were still waiting on them as he obviously forgot they had been ordered. The server of the tables across from us was so much better at her job and very attentive to her tables. If it were not for the service itself I would have given Yummy Kitchen 5 stars. Husband took our family of 4 out to try out this Korean bbq, hot pot and sushi spot that recently opened up on Culebra. It was a very modern and clean location (& clean 2-stall bathrooms!) with a serve it yourself concept. Your party picks 1 of 3 options (for the entire table). If you want another option, you pay the additional fee. The server brings your drinks and appetizers, but you go to the fridge to get your proteins, noodles (if hot potting), and vegetables. There's a separate "cold" bar where you can make your own sauce, with seaweed salad, cucumber salad, kimchi, salad greens, melons, oranges, "tiramisu," and individual ice cream or sherbet. Our server Destiny was very nice and attentive, clearing our table and topping off drinks in a very expeditious manner. Speaking of drinks, there isnt a fully bar. So you can only get soju, sake, and beer. (Beer bottles are self serve in a separate fridge too). They have sake bombs for $13, but we didn't get that this time around. Our girls got the mango passion fruit refreshers and really enjoyed them. Husband got a peach soju (we couldn't taste any peach) and I got a Dr. pepper. Philly roll, Tiger Eye roll, the Mango Salmon, and the Yellowtail Jalapeño were all tasty - the former two were an additional charge but worth it. The mango was very fresh in the mango salmon roll! We went with bbq style. Favorite proteins were the signature pork belly, short rib, and the garlic shrimp. We also had the toro beef, spicy pork bulgogi, short rib and beef bulgogi. We had a decent experience, I have had better though. I had tried 3-4 hotpot types of places in SAT through the years. My family obv likes this style of dining. This was my 1st here but others in the party have been here before. Place was clean and we were seated right away. You can only pick one-BBQ or hot pot at the table. We did the hotpot. We were a party of 4 and the bowl for the soup bases were not in the logical place. We had to keep spinning the bowl to get to our portion because they didn't align it properly from the kitchen. We came in after driving pass on many occasions, we checked the menu before coming we are big fans of Ramon, we were seated right away and the the server showed up promptly we ordered gyoza and then proceeded to order Ramon just to find out they no longer serve it, so my husband went with the shrimp fried rice I went with shrimp tempura and spring rolls , we are not fans of sushi and didn't want fried rice. The gyoza was good not the best I have ever had I kinda like the pan fried. As for the spring rolls they were ok probably wouldn't order them again. They opened just a couple days ago. It is a small but pretty restaurant. You can choose AYCE sushi, hot pot, or bbq and can add a second entree for $3. This is different than jpot or kpot since it uses the full size hot pot so you have to choose either bbq or hot pot. We did bbq and sushi. We also got the included appetizer. We chose chicken wings and mango salmon ( not pictured because they disappeared too quick) is also unique because you pick your meats and veggies from the cooler yourself rather than ordering off the menu . I had high hopes for Yummy Kitchen, but unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. From the moment we sat down, things just felt off. We ordered the hot pot, which should have been the highlight -- but the broth tasted like plain dishwater. There was absolutely no depth of flavor, and it made the entire experience unenjoyable. On top of that, guests are expected to go up and get their own meats and veggies, which makes it feel more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. At the end, the manager mentioned that if we wanted to, we could ask the servers to bring the items to the table, but the setup was confusing and poorly explained. **Also there are chances for cross contamination with shrimp, meats and veggies bc of the tongs** Manager did not understand my concerns for this at all. The sushi roll we tried was the only saving grace -- it was cooked and actually tasted pretty good. Unfortunately, that was the only positive part of the meal. It was also made known that it was the first day for the servers, and they hadn't even tasted any of the menu items yet. That really stood out to me -- how can you expect your staff to recommend dishes or provide good service if they've never tried the food themselves? That's a management issue, not an employee one. When I gave my feedback directly to the manager, he didn't seem interested in listening. He talked over me, made excuses, and brushed off my comments instead of taking them seriously. It came across as dismissive and unprofessional, which was the final straw. Between the bland food, confusing setup, untrained staff, and dismissive management, I can't recommend Yummy Kitchen. Much to our disappointment, Yummy Kitchen was just... not good. Some background: my fiancé and I are both huge fans of hot pot, kbbq, and sushi, though we both have pretty low standards on food. We are generally pretty happy with whatever we're eating. We've tried just about every hot pot and kbbq restaurant in San Antonio and Austin and have never had a "bad" experience - at the very least, just a "fine" experience. Yummy Kitchen was poor at best. It looks like the positive reviews tend to mention the sushi, but we tried the kbbq and hot pot. The hot pot was okay - just fine tasting broth. The meats came out in INCREDIBLY small portions and all were very unappealing. The sides ended up being the best part and that's only by comparison. We then had the bbq (by the way, you can only do one at a time if you're paying for both, unlike other places). The bbq had the texture and taste akin to salisbury steak you can buy frozen at HEB. We tried several meats before we just decided to call it, such as pork belly, bulgogi (well, we ordered the bulgogi, but I don't think our waitress actually gave us bulgogi), and some other beef that we can't even remember. All meats tasted and felt like cheap meat that could barely pass as a school cafeteria meal. Maybe the sushi is the move here, but we will not be coming back to find out. As a couple who LOVES kbbq and hotpot, we would sincerely advise against spending 30$ a person on either. If you still choose to visit, hopefully the sushi is good! read more

I was pretty excited to try this place. After eating here, I was pretty disappointed. The service was horrible. We came in on a Sunday around 1 o'clock. We were seated and the server took our order and after taking our order and getting our food, we were left unattended for 30 minutes before the server came back around to check on us. I ordered all you can eat sushi and my order was wrong. My wife and I both ordered fried rice and it was cold when it came out as well as the miso soup was not that warm either. Ordered the over priced chicken wing meal thinking I would get 5$ off with coupon. Jumped through all the hoops, downloaded the app, clicked on the coupon it said it would be applied at checkout. That didn't happen! I paid full price over 14$ for mediocre food at best. I sent an email to customer service with my request for my 5$. That was 8 days ago and haven't heard anything back. The food was definitely pretty good. The meats were decent and very pleasing for the idea of Hot Pot. The issue we had was a very bad accident happened on Culebra... the road this restaurant is on our friends time went from 10 minutes to 30 minutes with this being said we asked if our 2 hour window for hot pot could start when our friends arrived(we had no food at the table yet) the amazing waiter we had asked Managment and they said no. Which did not make much sense since we had no food... I understand policy's but also a business owner you have to make sacrifices. I figured this was a small instance at first then at the end we asked for a military discount(as advertised literally on the entry way. Hot Pot was not included on the discounts... it's like at that point nothing was going right even knowing it's one of the main advertisers for the restaurant. I don't know what else to say. The restaurant was very clean and very nice tables and chairs.
