My son and I went there for lunch today, number 19 of our 20 Benson restaurant tour. More than pleasantly surprised. Very clean and very comfortable. Our server Jessica was amazing, she did not miss a thing! We each had a seafood combo plate, he chose hot, I chose mild even though I do like hot food. My son's comment was that he can honestly say it's one of the best meals he's ever had in his life away from home. The lobster, crab legs, shrimp and crawfish was incredible. So YUMMY! We did the all mixed flavoring and it was great. We added a pound of sausage to go with it. It was shared between two people and we still had leftovers. We also got a side of calamari and fries. Both decent. The only downside to this small restaurant is the service. After driving by Yummy Crab every Sunday on our way to a basketball game we decided to check it out. We really liked it! We went for a couple of appetizers - calamari and mozzarella sticks. I loved the dipping sauce for the calamari, it had some spice, but was also really creamy. We all shared a combo meal of snow crab and shrimp. We selected the lemon butter seasoning and mild heat. The seasoning was great and I enjoyed the messy experience - the tables are covered in paper so you can easily discard the cracked legs and you are given a bucket with plastic gloves, bibs, wet wipes, condiments and necessary utensils prior to the meal being served. Overall, the food was decent, but nothing exceptional. The service on the other hand was less than desirable. There were very few people in the restaurant but it still took over 5 minutes after we were seated to order drinks. The server came back to get the order but we didn't see her again until she brought out 2 of the 9 orders. Those 2 orders sat there for at least 5 minutes before the rest of the orders came out. Once the remaining orders were delivered, we didn't see the server again until everyone was finished. They added gratuity for a party of 9, but didn't state it was a gratuity in the bill. The food was delicious and the prices are super super reasonable. The service however was horrible. I went out to dinner with my dad and for starters nobody greeted us for about 10-15 minutes when we sat down, then when they did she acted like we were an inconvenience. We get our food and everything looks amazing, then we don't see our server the entire rest of the time. We had to wave her down. I then asked her to show my father how to properly eat a crawfish and she was honest said she didn't know how went to grab someone and when that someone came over she also acted as if we were an inconvenience. The restrooms were disgusting and I will not go back solely because if they think it's OK for the restrooms to go without cleaning I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. Also, there's a curtain leading to the hall for the restrooms and the area where people have parted it is black with grime. And they definitely have a sewer gas problem on top of the filth. I have pretty high expectations when it comes to crab. Tonight my mom and I, along with my ten year old ventured across town, since we live off 156th and Q. My son got the #1- 1/2 lb of snow with shrimp and my mom and I both got a pound of Dungeness. Let me just say that this is some of the best crab her or I have eaten, ever. TONS of flavor. Perfectly cooked and even at the end of the meal the potatoes still had some warmth. Great tasting food. My son demolished his crab. His face was covered in the buttery sauce. The icing on the cake was our server Jerusalemm. She was so attentive and had a great personality. The second best boil bag Ive ever had the other was in Dallas, TX. I also ordered onion rings they were blah, I wish would've ordered hushpuppies instead. Overall I really enjoyed it, they arrive with all the tools you need right before the bag and I didn't have to ask for anything.
