Acadian Grille Scratch Kitchen - Cajun Meatloaf

Acadian Grille Scratch Kitchen

West Omaha

Hidden treasure in the heart of Old Mill. As my friend said, "more people need to know about this…read moreplace." All of the food is made to order, and it's authentic Louisiana fare. Friendly staff, decent bar, and great meals. Budget-friendly food that's better than the standard whatever you're used to. Cool vibe - can't wait to go back. Also - check out their reverse happy hours - weirdly early and extra-late. Great deals. Cheers!

We live right by Acadian Grille, so we pop in there pretty often. It's a nice little Cajun…read morerestaurant, which there are not many of in Omaha. The interior is a little boxy, but with lots of decor like chandeliers with Mardi Gras beads hanging down, some uplighting, and cute New Orleans pictures on the walls. Our favorite little side/app, are the Boudin Balls, which are kind of like hush puppies, but with a nice helping of remoulade on top. Yum! My fave go-to entree is the Five Pepper Cream pasta, which is fettuccini tossed in a creamy creole sauce, with a huge breaded filet of blackened chicken on top. Another favorite is the Creole Mac, which is a Mac and Cheese, but with a spicy sauce/spices on top, and filled with andouille sausage as well as sliced, grilled chicken. It definitely has a kick, so if you're averse to any heat, then maybe choose something else. And lastly, I sometimes get the Cajun Meatloaf, if I'm feeling like a heavier dish. It is meatloaf, like you've obviously had a million times, but it is sitting in a dish full of grits and sweet potatoes, and topped with a creamy white béchamel sauce. They also have a lunch size portion of this, which I appreciate. And each entree comes with a little slice of cheesy bread, that's great to dip in the extra sauce of your dish! We sometimes also get the desserts, and they have a great crème brûlée and bananas foster. It's hard to find a good bananas foster in Omaha, and theirs is really good, and very large! The service we have had has always been pretty good, but we did have a weird encounter with one server recently. She made a joke about something (I can't even remember what it was), but it was a little bit poking fun at my husband. It was fine and we all laughed a little at it, but what was weird was that she kept coming over and repeating it over and over in different ways. It was a little annoying and awkward. The owner (I think?) was walking around making sure everything was ok and chatting with each table, so he was great - no complaints there. I will say the only other drawback is that it definitely is not an inexpensive place to eat, so you can't return TOO often. But when you do, you better come hungry and it needs to be a special treat. Acadian Grille is one of only a few creole/cajun restaurants in Omaha, so definitely give them a try if you are looking for that style of food - or know it and want to find it in Omaha!

You can choose from a wide variety of seafood such as shrimp, mussels, lobster, snow crab etc. once you choose your seafood that you select your flavoring. Choices are Cajun, lemon pepper, garlic butter, or a mix of all three. Lastly, choose your spice level (mild, medium, hot, etc). We both selected the snow crab and snow boil with Cajun seasoning and mild spice. The boils also come with corn, potatoes and a hard boiled egg. Never seen the egg in a boil before. Everything comes out in a big plastic bag in a steel pan. Dump the contents out and prepare to dig in. Let me say that this is not the place to go out all dressed up. The boils are very messy. They give you an apron and plastic gloves, but still a mess. It was delicious. We also got a couple sides of hush puppies which were very tasty as well. Good portions. Staff was friendly and informative. Really great flavors in the boils. They did a real good job. Definitely worth checking out.

And I gave $60 tip because of the number of people. Got back home and found that they charged me a "server fee" of $25.64! Wow! Tanya, what a dishonest waitress. I'll never go back and eat there. You should ha e explained to me what the server fee was. I would still have tipped good. It now I'll never go back.

They had some jazz playing on the overhead speakers but not too loud so you could hear the person you are with. They had a chandelier made of trumpets and trombones draped in carnival beads. We went just before 5 on a Saturday and it was not too full. It got quite busy by the time we left and I can see why! We usually do not get appetizers but I had to try the gumbo. I got the small so I could leave room for the meal. It was hot, and tasted very fresh and authentic. Our server, Alex, was very enthusiastic and quite knowledgeable about the many dishes they had. The hardest part for me was to choose what to get as everything sounded so good. I got the Andouille breaded red snapper, which was pan fried, served with a crawfish cream sauce, mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables (green beans and yellow squash). It looked as good as it tasted, which was incredible! My wife got a burger and fries which she said were also very good. We had to try the Beignets, which I haven't had in a very long time. They were hot and crispy, covered with a blanket of powered sugar, and served with a chocolate sauce and a whisky sauce. They were delicious and definitely reminded me of being back at Cafe du Monde in the French Quarter. We left full of some of the best food I had ever eaten, and felt like we were treated like family while we were there. This has quickly become my favorite restaurant in town and look forward to returning to try some of their other amazing looking food. If their other dishes are as good as what I just had, I will likely never want to go anywhere else.

It was disappointing to see another couple who arrived after us get served right away. The server we asked did end up helping us, but I did expect a manager to come over and at least apologize--unfortunately, that didn't happen. The food was not bad and definitely tasted made to order, though the jambalaya was a little dry. The restaurant was pretty loud, which is expected. On a positive note, the server we ended up with was very nice. Overall, I will not be returning. Another frustrating issue was with the entrées: you cannot substitute mashed potatoes and grits as sides, with fries or something else that you actually enjoy eating, which was disappointing. This is something the owner may want to consider changing.

I've been to this location before but it's been a while and we really enjoyed coming back. Came in on a Saturday afternoon when it's fairly typical to have live mariachi bands roving the restaurant. The restaurant is large, and has a fun fiesta of decor. We were pleasantly greeted and quickly seated without reservations. It should be noted that they will take reservations during the week, but not on weekends. There are a number of large tables that can accommodate bigger groups. Complementary parking lot is available out front. However, it does get a little tight during their busy times. This is an interesting Mexican restaurant as it reminds me of something more typical of what you would find on the Yucatán peninsula. Shrimp and mixed ceviche dishes, a large variety of fish dishes, including whole fish that are very traditional for that part of Mexico. They also serve excellent salsa and guacamole, however, this is not the type of Mexican restaurant you can order dishes of queso, or some of the more traditional dishes that you would find at other, more Americanized restaurants. Our server, Christine V was super! We got there a little early in order to secure a larger table off to the side since our infant granddaughter is going to be joining us for a birthday celebration. This restaurant well they don't allow you to bring it outside cakes for dessert offer a variety of desserts that can be offered for special occasions. We were able to select a strawberry Tres Leche cake, which was just perfect for the occasion. We also enjoyed their margaritas, which were excellent and offered in the variety of enormous proportions! Everything that was ordered, was generous in quantity and delicious and quality that included a variety of fajitas and shrimp dishes. This location also offers seafood rolls that are prepared at a sushi counter. For those that are a little less brave there are a number of options that offer everything cooked and prepared just like you would find in any local sushi restaurant and as good. The one thing I also love about this restaurant is that it is immaculately clean. There's a dedicated crew that roams and never leaves anything unbussed for long. Everything appears to be wiped, sanitized, and swept in between every round of customers which is brisk. The manager came around and checked on us to ensure we have everything we need and offered us to go bags. Everything about this visit was very positive. Highly recommend this location as it's been voted one of the best of Omaha for 2023.

We initially decided to come here because our daughter's name is Isla and we thought she would think it was cool to see her name when we explained to her what it was called but the food will definitely motivate us to come back. I can't actually find it on pictures of the menu, but the dish we ordered was served in a pineapple and it was phenomenal!

The service was excellent and our server was attentive. Went there for their fried chicken which was highly recommended but was not a fan. The chicken is under seasoned and dry. Even with the dipping sauce it needed more flavor. Didn't even take a picture because it wasn't that good looking either. It was underwhelming to say the least. However, the biscuits were DELICIOUS. Crisp and amazing with butter and jam. We ordered the fried green tomatoes as well which were tasty and crunchy, they came with tasty goat cheese and some sauce, while I do wish there was a bit more sauce it was still a great choice. The Mimosa flight was good but it wasn't anything special, I do wish for the cost that there was a bit more going on or even bigger portions. Overall good place to go with a good variety of options.

The other members of our party also loved their meals. I can't wait to come back and try more!
