In the new Trucks and Taps just south of 108th & Q St.

Today was advertised as the new home for Wonton Jon's at the former Sonic just south of 108 & Q St called Trucks and Taps. They will be joining The Big Green Q and The Dire Lion and will include space for 6 taps and other canned beers. Today they had a Father's Day Brunch special of a Steak and Egg sandwich with Country Potatoes. The steak was a bit chewy but it was seasoned well and the potatoes were just fine. I can't wait to return a try their regular menu items.

    Crab rangoon grilled cheese

The absolute best grilled cheese out there. Out grills me. Made with real crab meat not the imitation stuff. Definitely worth it!

This is a fairly new food truck with a cool new concept...Wontons with creative toppings! You order a minimum of 3 Wontons for $3 per Wonton. I went with the Tangy Pulled Pork, Mushroom Ceviche and Crunchy Rueben. My favorite....I just don't know! They were all very good. The Pulled Pork comes with a tangy white BBQ sauce that is great, and topped with red cabbage, carrots, pickled red onion (delish) and sweet dried cranberries. Somehow these all worked together so well. The pork was smoked perfectly! The Mushroom Ceviche was refreshing for sure! Packed with citrus and veggies, mushrooms garlic, pickled jalapeno and other yummy veggies. Good stuff. The Crunchy Rueben was very flavorful with corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss cheese and smokey thousand island. Yum! How does one pick a favorite? The only thing I wished for was for more of the crunchy Wonton! Those things are crunchy and good but by the time I got to my 3rd Wonton it started losing it's crunch a bit. This food truck will surely become well known. Thanks WJ!!

    Traditional breakfast burrito with potatoes

We ordered delivery from this truck on a whim for a weekend quick breakfast. We tried the traditional breakfast burritos which have egg, bacon, and cheese. We also added potatoes to ours which was a great choice! The potatoes were well seasoned and a great addition to the burritos. The size of the burritos were very generous, I was barely able to eat half of mine. The tortillas were well toasted so there was a nice crunch through the seared portion of the tortilla that added a nice texture. I definitely would order from this food truck again in the future. The menu seems to offer a lot of variety for breakfast, lunch, and dinner so there is something for everyone. Next on my list to try is the biscuits and gravy wontons!

I liked the rojo and verde but they had other kinds too. Any place with good birria tacos will make me a fan, and they have me! The consommé was rich and the cheese plentiful. My husband loved the street tacos. They don't have drinks but they have aguas frescas and horchata. The horchata was so good I didn't really even miss having a marg with my tacos. Service was quick and so great. We had the food delivered to the table and when I went up to order a churro at the end, they didn't even have me wait in line for it, they just put the order in and said I could pay on the way out. I loved that since it's an order and pay at the counter situation. Loved the decor and the casual vibes, and I seriously love that the mascot is a cute pup, they have a picture of them behind the counter!

This turned out to be fortuitous, since we had excellent Mexican food at the tiny El Churro storefront. It's very cheerful inside, a direct contrast to the bar next door, and as it happens, El Churro can deliver their food next door if you want adult beverages. We opted to stay put. The menu is easy to read, posted in large print across the front of the ordering counter. There's also a chalkboard listing specials. I opted for a bowl, and Big Bro went with a quesabirria plate of 3 tacos. He pronounced it "muy delicioso" but thought it a bit overpriced for the serving size. I ordered a bowl which had rice, beans, lettuce, crema, and a choice of protein. I chose sweet potato as my protein, even though it is a carb, but it fitted in deliciously with the other ingredients. It may have also had tomato and cilantro. I thought it was great. Big Bro had horchata, and I opted for water but there's also a cold drinks case with soda and bottled water. Even though it's called El Churro and there are several varieties of churros, we decided not to indulge. There's a serve-yourself bin of warm tortilla chips with four different kinds of sauces going from very mild to very hot. We discovered this on our way out, so Big Bro grabbed a basket to go. They also have a burger on the menu that appears to be an add-on homage to O'Leaver's. I recommend skipping the bar next door and coming here instead.

I ordered the chicken vindaloo and the gobi Manchurian. The chicken vindaloo had really good spices and flavor. The chicken however was a bit on the dry side. Now the Gobi Manchurian made all the difference. It was cooked to order. Spicy with a little crunch (I ordered take-out, so it may have been crunchier had it not had a lid and condensation). First time trying it and I will definitely try to make my own version since there's no Indian cuisine in my area. I'm happy I stopped by. I would gladly return in the future when I'm in town. Highly recommend if you like Indian or just want to try something new.

The only thing they got right? The Coke -- perfectly chilled. Everything else was disappointing. The rice tasted stale, like it had been sitting around way too long. The butter chicken had zero flavor -- no seasoning, no depth, just bland sauce with what looked like a few boiled chunks of chicken thrown in. For something labeled "spicy," there was absolutely no heat. The naan was just okay, but definitely not "butter naan." Dry, no butter, nothing special. This felt like the bare minimum effort across the board. Would not order again.

We really enjoyed our meals. We also used their bar service and the bartender was great and made nice drinks. That being said they are only getting 3 stars because they really missed big on several things. First my only request for the bar was that I as the groom wanted to have an Old Fashioned at my wedding. They didn't bring the proper ingredients. No Old Fashioned for me. Second we requested roasted potatoes and instead got mashed potatoes. They tasted great but again not what we asked for. Third My wife needed gluten free so we had two desserts one gluten free cake and one not gluten free, they mixed them together at the end of the night so no left over cake for my wife. Fourth some random woman came into the venue to snoop prior to the wedding so a catering staff member took upon themselves to show her around and they walked in on my wife while she was changing. Fifth we were given a personalized bottle of Champagne to commemorate the event that was thrown away at the end of the night by the staff as they were cleaning. None of this was really major and certainly didn't ruin our night but left a very bad taste in our mouth about every recommending our using this company again. They did offer to buy us an anniversary cake and bottle of Champagne but we did not want freebies, we just want them to take more care when working at such a memorable event.
