We live right by Acadian Grille, so we pop in there pretty often. It's a nice little Cajun restaurant, which there are not many of in Omaha. The interior is a little boxy, but with lots of decor like chandeliers with Mardi Gras beads hanging down, some uplighting, and cute New Orleans pictures on the walls. Our favorite little side/app, are the Boudin Balls, which are kind of like hush puppies, but with a nice helping of remoulade on top. Yum! My fave go-to entree is the Five Pepper Cream pasta, which is fettuccini tossed in a creamy creole sauce, with a huge breaded filet of blackened chicken on top. Another favorite is the Creole Mac, which is a Mac and Cheese, but with a spicy sauce/spices on top, and filled with andouille sausage as well as sliced, grilled chicken. It definitely has a kick, so if you're averse to any heat, then maybe choose something else. And lastly, I sometimes get the Cajun Meatloaf, if I'm feeling like a heavier dish. It is meatloaf, like you've obviously had a million times, but it is sitting in a dish full of grits and sweet potatoes, and topped with a creamy white béchamel sauce. They also have a lunch size portion of this, which I appreciate. And each entree comes with a little slice of cheesy bread, that's great to dip in the extra sauce of your dish! We sometimes also get the desserts, and they have a great crème brûlée and bananas foster. It's hard to find a good bananas foster in Omaha, and theirs is really good, and very large! The service we have had has always been pretty good, but we did have a weird encounter with one server recently. She made a joke about something (I can't even remember what it was), but it was a little bit poking fun at my husband. It was fine and we all laughed a little at it, but what was weird was that she kept coming over and repeating it over and over in different ways. It was a little annoying and awkward. The owner (I think?) was walking around making sure everything was ok and chatting with each table, so he was great - no complaints there. I will say the only other drawback is that it definitely is not an inexpensive place to eat, so you can't return TOO often. But when you do, you better come hungry and it needs to be a special treat. Acadian Grille is one of only a few creole/cajun restaurants in Omaha, so definitely give them a try if you are looking for that style of food - or know it and want to find it in Omaha! read more

We visited Acadian grille to celebrate a birthday. It was nice and not very busy. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated We were seated right away. The waitress was friendly and attentive. We ordered the flight of soup : gumbo, seafood chowder and Cajun tomato soup . I ordered the shrimp poboy, my son ordered the the catfish poboy, my other son ordered Gouda Mac and chews with Tasso and my wife ordered the catfish platter. We all enjoyed the dishes . The gumbo was excellent. All three soups were really good. The poboys were smaller than expected they tasted great. My son thought the Gouda Mac and cheese was good but not as flavorful as expected . My wife really liked the catfish. The portion size of the catfish platter was generous . Overall we really liked it. We will return . The soups alone are worth the visit read more

We enjoy the Cajun restaurants in our state, but did not realize the layered dimensions of flavor possible in a Cajun dish till we popped in here on our way back down I-80 to Colorado. Started with Boudin balls, a kind of hush puppies stuffed with Andouille sausage. The Acadian meatloaf is exceptional and unique. The meat was coarsely ground, which was better, and the medley of flavors in both grits and sweet potatoes was SO good. I frequently order shrimp n grits, but these were the best I've tasted. The dish comes with diced pork shoulder (tasso) on the side, which steps things up a notch;). Lastly, the wait staff are very friendly, helpful and attentive. We finally got to go back! We went for Valentine's Day dinner. This time we each had our own crab cakes! They are AMAZING! We both got the special hot and naked noodles. I got salmon and my husband had the steak. It was all SO SO good! We also each had a side salad with Cajun ranch dressing (house made) & it was a perfect little salad and the dressing was very good! Our meals came with bread. I always love bread and their bread did not disappoint. My husband said he doesn't usually care about bread but this is good! Tried out this spot for our anniversary and it did not disappoint! The place is small and quaint and we chose to eat at the bar rather than take up a larger table. We skipped appetizers and went straight for the main course. My husband had the five pepper cream pasta with blackened catfish and it was excellent. I had the special for the evening: head on peel n eat shrimp with andouille sausage, fried potatoes, and corn. This was the best Cajun dish I have ever had. The shrimp were large and there were plenty of them. Andouille sausage isn't my fav but the way this was cooked, had me finishing it and the fried potatoes were delicious . We finished the meal with crème brûlée, again, excellent. The staff was so friendly and gave great recommendations. We will be going back as this was way better than Mouth of the South, a place which we have always enjoyed. read more

The location is a strip mall, with a front window facing the parking lot. One canst at the bar or at a table. At the time we went, traffic was low and we picked the bar. No fancy cocktails offered, but plenty of beer and wine choices, plus a number of hard liquor selections. Service was good, and seemed to be the manager servicing us. He was great. Got us set up promptly and served us well. The food was delicious. My wife had the special of the day, pork belly over grits. I had to try their jambalaya, and was not disappointed. There is no one way to serve it and theirs suited me. You can specify what you want your jambalaya over, and they default to grits, Good grits, too. We'll return. read more

Omg. My wife and I went here for dinner and I'm still thinking about how amazing this place was. First, the customer service is top notch. Pretty quaint but we felt welcomed by the staff. Now let's talk about the food because this place served us some of the best Cajun food I've ever had. We had the frog legs as an appetizer and they were amazing!!!! Hot and fresh out the oil. Cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly!!! For the main course my wife had the shrimp etouffee , flavorful and comforting. I ordered the whole catfish. They accidentally made me the catfish strips. No problem I said. They not only left me the catfish strips but went and still made my whole catfish like I ordered. Both items were cooked to perfection!!!!! The batter, the seasonings, the fish was so flaky and everything was great. The only thing that I wasn't too keen on was the seating. The chairs aren't comfy at all. I wonder if they did that on purpose to keep folks from lingering around for too long. Hmmmm. Oh well. Either way, if I could give this place 10 stars, I would. This restaurant is tucked away in a little area off of dodge and is so cute and unassuming from the outside. It's a quaint restaurant with enough seating to manage busy weekends yet just enough intimacy for quieter times during the day on weekdays. I've ordered a few meals to go during the height of the pandemic as I still wanted to support restaurants and businesses during that trying time. At the time, I had the shrimp po boy and a salad and every bite was delicious and flavor full. My most recent visit was during the afternoon and we were hungry for some Linner. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits with crispy tasso and my guy ordered the crawfish etoufee. Both were amazing. They were good portion sizes and full of tasty seasonings and ingredients. I loved my shrimp and grits dish, the crispy tasso added that extra crunch that paired well with the grits. The shrimp were perfectly cooked I really enjoyed the pairing of shrimp with the tasso. He ejoyed his etoufee as well. Again, loads of flavor and delicious sauce. Service was great as we were lucky enough to be the only diners at 330pm in the afternoon! But our server was friendly and shared what he loved about each dish. We left our linner happy and full. We will definitely go here again soon! read more

It's been a couple years since I've been there so wanted to do another visit after I saw they had smoked chicken thighs on the menu. The last time there we ordered the five cheese pepper pasta and again that was a couple years ago. Really enjoyed it so we ordered it again. It was a bit of a different color. It was not a creamy color. The owner explained it was because of not being able to get the same peppers. Regardless, it was still good and had a good kick to it. I know we eat with our eyes so to me it did not taste quite as creamy. The smoked chicken thighs however were quite disappointing. I've had smoked chicken thighs before and really enjoyed them. These were not only small but very dry. The reason for the four stars is because the owner is super nice and actually brought me an extra chicken thigh because he acknowledged that they were so small. Unfortunately, that did not make up for the dryness of them. Darn it! Bananas fosters was great. Could have used an extra banana but super delicious sauce! Again, owner is super accommodating and that's where all the stars come in for sure! Certainly worth a visit they will make sure you are happy. read more

Our server was amazing: super friendly and welcoming, great recommendations, efficient. I had the New Orleans salad with blackened shrimp and mando dressing. My husband had blackened cat fish on top of dirty rice with a side salad and a side of mango slaw (very light and fresh!). We were offered freshly made strawberry ice cream but passed. Had kind of a bummer of a meal tonight. Especially for a place I've loved so much in the past. It was obvious they are short staffed (not just by the sign out front advertising they're hiring - nor the fact that most every restaurant is right now) so I'm trying to give the benefit of the doubt here. But it was just off. In comparison to a place I've raced about previously. Food was okay, but the pace felt frantic and stressed in general. Staff looked frazzled and unhappy. Lent the meal a "not fun" vibe, coupled with a line out the door and people milling around waiting for take-out. The whole thing was a bummer and I felt guilty I couldn't pick up the pace somehow on behalf of the staff. The food too didn't seem to really hit all the high notes of previous visits either. Sausage in the jambalaya may have been AWOL. Many items were unavailable. All for a total approaching $90 (including kids meals and two beers). Disappointing I guess is the word. It'll be a little while before I feel like I can try again, sadly. read more

You can tell a restaurant's getting five stars when you've already selected dishes for next time. I was surprised it wasn't busier when we arrived around 5pm on a Saturday. We decided to try something new so we ordered the frog legs. The waiter was super helpful and let us know the fried version, compared to the blackened, might be best for the first time. He was right; it was basically like fried chicken legs. The best part was the salad rice vinaigrette in the middle. All the other dishes: Soft-shell Crab Sandwich (crisp bread, flavorful sauce, meaty crab), Five Spice Pasta with Blackened Chicken (spicy sauce, tender pasta, veggies, moist chicken), and Boudin Balls (like a dense hush puppies) we're all great. I like a lot of dressing, could have used a tad more. Crawfish etouffee was not bad, but a bit of a miss. Decent flavor and spice level, maybe a bit too tomato-y and not enough cajun-y? I just had a great lunch at Acadian Grille, and I can't wait to go back and try something else! I decided to order something classic: shrimp and grits. Grits can so often be bland but that was not the case here! They were deliciously seasoned and cheesy without being overpowering. And they weren't too gritty, perfectly cooked. The shrimp were cooked nicely also and the sauce had plenty of creole flavor. Next time I hope to try one of their pasta dishes or a po boy. I was not at all a Cajun food fan before I found this place. I've envelopes been to New Orleans on business, and while I liked what I ate there, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat it. That is no longer the case. Been here a dozen times and I would take a bath in the gumbo if it weren't weird and probably expensive. I ate it too fast to remember to take a photo, so, sorry for that. The pecan encrusted red snapper was masterful. On a bed of sweet potato mash. Fugget about it! The cornbread is to die for. I went out on a limb and ordered the Patty O'Brien's Legendary Taco. I am raising my Yelp rating to 5 stars based on tonight's experience, which was much better than the previous visit. Perhaps, since the restaurant was not crowded as last time, service was terrific and the food came out very quickly, once we placed our order. I went with the 5 Spice Pasta with Chicken. The taste becomes more intense if you use the serving spoon and transfer the sauce around the pasta and cut up the strips of blackened chicken into smaller pieces. The French bread is a nice touch to ease the spiciness of the meal between the main bites. We were checked upon more frequently and the check came very quickly compared to the last visit.
