a fork in a bowl of food

Definitively not a BBQ place...I was looking forward to have some beef brisket and ribs which we did.Horrible from every aspect...not sure if this brisket is a new invention on how to make it ...super thin slices kept into a liquid to be worm and shoved into a large paper cup ,tasteless not smoked ...super odd ,the ribs where super dry and no taste at all don't think that the food is made on the site but more brought in ,they where put on the grill to warm them up .On the plus the staff was super friendly and accommodating.

We stopped here as we were driving through town because I'm always looking for good barbecue. Yummy bones BBQ did not disappoint! The brisket sandwich was absolutely fantastic! The brisket was tender and unbelievably flavorful. If you're in the area this is definitely a place you need to stop in for.

Pulled pork sandwich, cole slaw, and Mama Louise's Mac N Cheese at Yummy Bones in Port Washington

Theres some really good grub here at Yummy Bones. I made the drive to do some Small Business Saturday shopping, and will return because the 'cue was just that good! The best barbecue is served in humble surroundings and that was true here. The kitchen is wide open with servers taking turns ringing up orders and plating food. Simple rough-hewn benches that are ginormous and hefty add to the rustic apoeal of Yummy Bones. The advertised special of 60-cent wings drew me here, but once I gandered at the menu and took an inventory of how much poultry I had eaten in the post-Thanksgiving apocalypse I settled on the pulled pork sandwich with a side of Mama Louise's Mac N Cheese and coleslaw. One side comes with a sandwich but i was glad to pay for the extra side because prices were reasonable. My sandwich was thick and hearty. It was piled high with hunks of pork which I had to pull out of the sandwich a bit before I could manage with my hands. Straight up sans sauce it was delicious, rubbed and slow-roasted, a mark of good barbecue. I went to the serving area where 4 bottles of sauce were on hand, 3 tomato based and one mustard based. This seems to be standard in barbecue joints and I did the finger taste test. I think I hit upon a Kansas-City based sauce (I like sauce the way I like my men - rich, sassy and just a touch sweet) and it delivered so I added some to my sammy. Back at the plank table, I enjoyed my food coupled with a view of the harbor. The cole slaw was vinegar based and chunky, with good texture and crunch. I enjoyed it solo and on top of my sandwich. But oh holy wow, that mac n cheese. Who is Mama Louise? I want to meet her and learn how she so perfectly married cheese and pasta into comfort food perfection. Seriously I couldn't replicate that flavor to savor and I want to. So good. Good food is coming out of this humble little place in Port Washington and I will be back for more.

Cashier's name is Madisyn. She lost our order. No apologies. Needs customer service skills pronto.

It doesn't matter how good the food might be, it is the customer service that will bring back your customers back again. We came in on a quiet Saturday afternoon hoping this place would live up to its high yelp rating. It did not. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. Orders seemed to coming pretty quick. Well except ours. We just ordered a pulled pork sandwich with mac n cheese and a wing platter with fries and baked beans. If I didn't say anything about our missing order no one would checked on us. I had to give them my receipt to make the order -- they have a POS. No apologies given by the staff. Food was average at best. Wings were small with no flavor, fries just over raw, corn bread and baked beans were the best and they were the sides. The pulled pork and mac n cheese are nothing to write home about. I would never recommend this place to anyone who visits Port Washington!

Great service and BBQ! I had wings and rib rips, both were fantastic. My mom had the catfish sandwich and she enjoyed it a lot.

The waitress was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. The clam chowder was delicious. Our mains included the short rib and the wild mushroom linguine. You could add a protein to the linguine, but the serving size of the short rib was so large, I shared some with my wife. The beef was tender and delicious. The cream sauce on the linguine was also amazing. The place was packed on a Friday so call ahead for reservations.

I especially recommend the Thai Peanut Shrimp--it was incredibly flavorful and came with a generous amount of shrimp. The Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer was another standout. It was served hot and fresh with a light, crispy breading and a delicious dipping sauce. So good! We also had cocktails, which were just okay for me. They tasted a little watered down and weren't as spirit-forward as I prefer. I also thought the décor felt a little tired and didn't quite match the more interesting menu. Overall, though, we really enjoyed our dinner and would recommend Twisted Willow if you're looking for something a little different and flavorful while visiting Port Washington!

It is only because of fans like you who care enough to contact us that the DQ brand and its independently owned and operated franchises can improve. Your comments have been documented and forwarded to the independent franchise owner of this restaurant for their information and investigation. Additionally, I have forwarded your concerns to all appropriate DQ personnel for their review." This response falls short of even the most modest attempt to placate the consumer. If this franchisee fails, it is because they are not listening. UPDATE 09/03/2026: My review is unchanged. The DQ Bot posted a response asking me to use a link to "reach out" so that they could let the franchise owner know of the concerns. My concerns are included in this review--there is no need for me to duplicate the effort. Pass the on to the franchise owner--or don't. I surmise that the franchise owner has access to yelp, has read the reviews, can obviously visit his restaurant to see for himself, and summarily does not give a lick. If he did, he would have addressed these concerns long ago. They've gone on for years. DQ--do you care how your franchisees represent your brand? If you did, this franchisee would have had his franchise pulled. You care more about the royalties than about fixing issues with one of your franchisees and protecting your brand. THE ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW STANDS: This particular franchisee cannot seem to pull it together. I visited yesterday, and it was fairly busy. Two guest were waiting for food, and I stood at the counter. One of the male employees, to his credit, acknowledged me and said someone would be right with me. There was food, ice cream, and condiments all over the place. It looked like a tornado hit the kitchen. Two guys were in the kitchen not doing much of anything, while the other two employees were frantically running around trying to prepare ice cream, but not really accomplishing anything. They were clearly overwhelmed. Understaffing is this location's downfall. This and cleanliness. It's always dirty, and it kind of has a wet dog smell. I waited for a little over ten minutes. The two women waiting for food didn't get it. Another guy walked in for a mobile order he placed, and he stood there. A few more minutes passed. I looked at the staff covered in food, the filth of the restaurant, and all the food and ice cream on the floor behind the counter and decided I did not need a cone that badly. I left, and noticed a bunch of cars pulling up to the drive through. The last time I visited, a sign on the door said they were closed because they didn't have anyone to work. I live in Cedarburg, so when I want DQ, I'll probably just go to the one in Jackson.
