Today was one of those days that I just had to have some soul food. As I was heading down the road,…read moreI drove past Ms. Movale's Eatery and decided to turn around and head inside. Walking into Ms. Movale's Eatery I was excited. The staff was very friendly and very welcoming. The ambiance was vibrant. The restaurant was clean. And the menu was robust. As this was my first time, I took a moment to scroll the menu in full as there were so many good options. I was torn between Whiting and Wings but finally decided on the wing dinner. The dinners come with 2 sides so I chose Macaroni and Cheese and Cabbage. I went to the cashier, placed my order, paid, and was on my way to wait for my food. As I waited, I enjoyed all the original artwork on the walls and the music that was playing. Though it was almost closing time, the team still kept an upbeat mood and tone going. When my food was ready, I got my plate and was out the door. As soon as I got in the car all I could smell was soul food goodness. Oh my gosh! I smelled seasoning salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and a hint of season all. Babeeeeeeeeee! I was ready to eat. Opening up my tray, the wings were wingettes, however, they were fried to golden brown perfection and seasoned for the tongue pleasing gods. The chicken was hot and fresh and just had to taste one. I just wanted to taste one as I was hungry and just needed something to hold me until I got home. Well, to my surprise, somehow all of my wings were gone by the time I got home. Lmbooooooooooooooooo. Yes yall. I ate every single one on the ride home. Them things were thangannnnnnn. The Macaroni and Cheese was homemade. The flavor profile was exactly as it should be. The texture was creamy and the noodles were tender but not too soft. I would definitely get it again. The cabbage was shredded which made it perfect as a pairing to the wings. It was tender with a hint of crunch just like I like it and the flavor profile had a hint of sweetness. Whew! Whoever made this cabbage understood the entire assignment because babeeeeeeeee. This was cabbage done right. All is all, my experience at Ms. Movale's Eatery was good enough that I will be back. I need to try the fish, pork chops, ox tails, and chicken sandwich. Ha!!!!

I had a great experience at The Original Big Daddy's Dish, and I want to give a special shout-out…read moreto Sydney. When I walked in, the restaurant was busy, and it was obvious they had a lot of orders to handle. Even with all that was going on, Sydney greeted me with a warm smile, made eye contact, asked how my day was going, and made me feel like a valued customer. She was friendly, engaging, and never seemed overwhelmed despite leading the team and keeping everything running smoothly. That's the kind of customer service that leaves a lasting impression. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was welcoming, and I can definitely see why this place stays busy. Great food is one thing, but outstanding employees like Sydney are what keep people coming back. Keep up the great work!

The sweet potato pie, was flavorless. It tasted like a bland custard. July 27th visit..tried the meatloaf again. It was horrible. The mashed potatoes tasted sour, they ran out of cornbread so I asked for some white bread, the server, gave me a crazed look and said..I will see what I can do...the sweet potatoes were bland, and very little...i purchased a piece of white layered cake , with orange colored icing...the cake was definitely stale, and cold from constant refrigeration, which is to simply hide the staleness....i will never ever eat at another big daddy,s restaurant again...the cashier, before she ran up my purchase, asked me if I don't mind reading and answering a question displayed on the cash register monitor screen...that question was how much would you like to Tip.....not did you find everything ok...is there anything thing else I can do for you.. No simply how much do you want to tip.. Avoid this old national location at all Cost. The food is simply repulsive....and yes I gave a tip of 4.00 dollars to the cashier. And $10.00 dollars to the older cute waitress, who was so rude. She didn't say even thankyou..Avoid at all Cost. I recall around 2017..bid daddy had a restaurant location downtown, near the courthouse...i and my co workers went to try his food. I ordered spaghetti and to my surprise they put bbq sauce in their spaghetti.....all these years and their food and service is still on the bottom I

I ordered smothered turkey wing (rice included) , greens, and dressing. Even though other reviews mentioned that the food was bland and needed salt/seasonings....it was actually good to me. I enjoyed the greens so much that I decided to get a veggie plate today. I placed my order via Door Dash and still had to wait 15 minutes once I got there. Does it really take 15 extra minutes for 4 veggies; greens, blackeyed peas, fried corn, and potato salad when I ordered via Door Dash? You would think they would be already prepared. So once I get home, my 4 veggies were cold and the collard greens were SUPER salty. I live about 10 minutes away so my food should've still been hot. It seems that Sunday maybe the best day to order....EVERYTHING was perfect!

LONG BUT HONEST REVIEW…read more For starters let me say I had high hopes for Ms. V's Kitchen as I'm a soul food fanatic and love to find gems in my area. The first time I ordered through DoorDash I spent $40 and got the turkey wings (they were good but dry & could've used some more seasoning to my taste), mac & cheese & candied yams with a fruit punch to drink. I was most excited about the mac & yams only to find out via my Dasher that she 'ran out of yams' and I had to choose a substitute. It says online they open from 11am-11pm but in fact they open at 3pm and close at 11pm. I placed my order at 5pm. Not sure how she ran out of yams so quickly with so much of the rest of the day to go.. The Mac & potato salad was good and the fruit punch I loved!! They were very stingy w. the mac tho for what I paid. I was upset I didn't get my yams as well so I tried again the next day. THIS time I called at 11:36 am to find out if yams were being made, being that I only was going to order again if so. She told me personally she would start making the yams at 1pm & that they open at 3pm. I told her I paid a good amount & not for the small portion of side I had received. She assured me when I placed my order that day, she and her workers would make sure I get a much better portion along w. my yams. 3PM came as I already had my items in the cart ready to place my order. I tried to when DoorDash told me I could only place a timed order as Ms. V wasn't opening until 4:15 pm. I didn't know if that was a mistake or what was going on so I called not 1, not 2, but 3 times and none of my calls were answered. I then waited until they finally opened at 4:15pm and immediately placed my order. I was excited bc I knew I was told I would not only get my yams that day but also a better side portion. I ordered the baked chicken (very dry but def more seasoned) instead of turkey wings this time with the same side items and drink. My order arrived around 5:48 pm & the dasher that I get placed w. quite frequently dropped my food off. I opened it to see I was now given 2 sides of Mac w. not a yam in sight. Frustrated I called back to the restaurant at 5:51pm. Ms V spoke to me & told me she not only called me but had the dasher call me as well to tell me the yams 'weren't done yet' & she didn't want me to wait any longer for my order so she substituted mac for the yams. I did not receive ANY of those calls from either party nor did my dasher mention anything of the sorts when he dropped my food off. That specific dasher has texted me many times whenever an issue comes up with an order I have, so to hear that she AND the dasher both called me multiple times w. no answer on my end I do not believe. I was annoyed bc I not only called in the MORNING to ask about the yams BEFORE I placed my order, but was told they would be started at 1pm only for it to be almost 6pm and supposedly they weren't finished yet. The whole reason I ever placed a second order was specifically for the yams I didn't receive the first time. Ms. V apologized and offered to make it up to me by saying she would give me another meal & drink ON HER.. WITH the yams I didn't get for sure. I work at night so I asked when she would be able to fulfill her promise. She asked at first if I could pick up from her restaurant as I told her I couldn't bc my car would be gone after 6pm. She then said not to worry she will deliver my meal PERSONALLY when she got a chance. I couldn't leave the gap of not knowing the time so I asked if it would be late bc I couldn't do late! I work at night. She said NO and to give her about 2hrs (so around 7pm-ish) Hours went by. I tried to be lenient & gave her some extra time bc I thought she may have gotten busy. I didn't receive any update, no call or text so I texted her at 9:50pm. I didn't get a reply back until 10:51 PM... NINE MINUTES BEFORE CLOSING with only the words "on the way now". I was highly upset as this is not what I agreed to, there was little to no poor communication on her end and I was already at work. I called 4/20/21 at 1:22pm for my final time. She answered and I asked if I'd be able to get the plate she promised. She responded w. "ooooh Ana I sent that order out the other night and it was kind of a waste bc you weren't there". I immediately almost choked bc the audacity and explained to her that what she did was send out an order at almost 11pm & not the time she told me. Again this time she said she still had my order in her texts and phone from the last time and that she would have my meal delivered but did not apologize. The ENTIRE day has went and gone. I never heard from her again. She did not deliver the meal she promised for the third time. Ms. V did not value me as a customer nor appreciate my business so I will take it elsewhere.
