The waitress, Cam, who is the owner's daughter, did it all--she managed the register for pickup orders, took care of dine-in guests, and checked in on everyone. She handled everything with great customer service. She answered our questions, gave helpful recommendations, and my favorite part was when she brought out a hot cup of water for our utensils. WoW!! My peoples and I fell into a very hidden gem...we entered a warm and inviting room with great music playing and were told to pick our seats. It was a good sign when a steady stream of folks came to pick up online orders. Food was prepared with care and love and dayum good...we cleaned our plates. I found this place on yelp and when I pulled up I almost drove off because the location is in a sketchy area and I'm not thrown off by sketchy locations easily. The only reason I didn't pull off is because a parking spot opened up and I went back on yelp to read the reviews and someone said don't judge by the outside so I took a chance. Boy am I glad I did this has gotta to be one of the best kept secrets in Atlanta, the food and the service was phenomenal. There was a steady stream of customers coming in and out while I was there. My wife's flight got delayed while we were already on the way to the airport so we decided to grab some breakfast together before she flies out. Found this spot randomly on Google maps & I am so glad we did. We walked in to some very interesting but feel-good vibes. We were acknowledged right away. Maybe it's because I walked in with no expectations but the service was quite good & the food was amazing! I took one look at the menu & immediately knew I was getting the corn beef hash - something that was regularly in my breakfast routine in NY & KC that Atlanta (or at least its suburbs) doesn't really seem to have. Cozy breakfast spot in East Point. Don't let the location fool you either! This is a small family-owned business with an amazing young girl always serving the front. I started ordering from here during the pandemic when I was working from home and continue to eat here (mostly Doordash). The service is always warm and the food is hot and fresh. From the outside I didn't expect much and was about to leave but luckily my wife saw a lit chandelier and figured to go ahead and go inside...the inside was dimly lit for a late Saturday morning but I enjoyed the random expressions of the owner... think fish tanks, sports memorbilia and the club. I tried this place for lunch with some coworkers. Customer service was great so I have no complaints there . The chicken however wasn't as fresh as I expected it to be as it looked great . The skin when you bit into it was a yellow tint which could have been seasoning of some kind but it wasn't very appealing and I was worried that I was going to get I'll afterwards . You could also taste the grease if that makes sense like as if it was recycled grease ( and I know this is a thing when frying food ) but it tasted like the grease was due for a change . I've never really had a issue with this business until today and I may be a bit more emotional than I need to be because I'm pregnant but the customer service I received today was not okay.. nor is it what I normally receive. I placed a order through uber eats as I always do and there's no way for you to add substitutions so I usually just add notes and if I'm uncharged for it I don't mind, based on there's no substitute option. In this case I ordered the pancake eggs and bacon and left a note to substitute pork for turkey bacon and my order was canceled. I called just to confirm breakfast is still being served and the young lady confirmed it was. She preceded to advise it was canceled because the turkey bacon costs more than the pork bacon. I advise her that is not what is shown on the app but if that's the case I don't have an issue being up charged. She immediately transfers me to her manager who initially wasn't polite. Cut me off to say I was transfer because I'm arguing about prices which wasn't true.. I was advising them the app shows the pork and turkey prices the same and they can always up charge if necessary. I'm writing this review because I didn't appreciate the energy I received when I was just confirming the order and letting them know 1. The prices are the same and 2. I didn't mind being up charged. I'm sure my review won't matter to them but I'm disappointed because this place has amazing food but I don't think I deserved that energy. I'm going to attach the prices just so you all know I wasn't arguing nor lying.. I was just advising.. the app should update this and should update the option to upgrade to turkey bacon. Thank you. Coming here is like going to my aunt's house. It is the perfect comfortable black owned spot for a good meal. The staff here is phenomenal. The food is delicious. I had the pancake breakfast for $13. It was two big fluffy tasty vanilla pancakes, with chicken sausage and scrambled eggs. All fresh. I also got hot tea. It came in a huge like 16 ounce Styrofoam cup. I was so happy. My date had the waffle plate with chicken sausage and scrambled eggs. Her scrambled eggs were made with veggies. She loved her food too and the tea she had. The grits were cooked but not seasoned very well. We thought the same of the eggs. The bacon and sausage were just okay, nothing fabulous about either. The salmon croquettes were interesting. They appeared to be battered, which is what made them interesting. All in all, this place works if you're in a pinch but it's not something I'd recommend. Had an amazing experience yesterday at D'essence Cafe. I had a horrible experience with another restaurant and was in dire need of nourishment. We decided to forgo an attempt at another restaurant and landed on giving, D'essence Cafe a try. The owner's were closing, but sat us down anyway and made a meal specially for us.
