03/29/2025 Oxtail Pasta
Kesht R.

Have had two meals from Cutter's Riverdale Since I'm writing this review late: 2 visits both were take-out. pictures of both meals. 1st visit was oxtails, cabbage, yams and collards. November 2024 2nd visit was oxtail pasta. March 2025. it was yummy. I'm planning to visit soon before the holidays since I'm craving the oxtail pasta. While driving (aimlessly) this week I passed by a location in McDonough. While pricey, the food especially the pasta was worth the $. glad it wasn't my money I was spending. lol. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to getting more food. posting 11/16/2025

Oxtails, rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains

Today I woke up with the taste for some oxtails, so of course I headed to Cutters. Upon walking in, there were a lot more people in there than the last time I visited. Many were sitting down enjoying their meals. You could smell each plate of whatever the person was eating, just by walking by lol. I ordered the oxtails with rice and peas, but this time subbing the cabbage (which was super spicy last time) for candied yams. I also got my plantain, beef pattie, and coco bread. Oh and can't forget the cream soda, I actually got two this time lol. I probably waited about 15-17mins for my food, but I surely didn't mind. I definitely sped all the way home ready to dig in. I can't lie, I was somewhat skeptical of the yams, because I've never had theirs before. Buuuut BABY, let me tell you those things are so good!!! They put the candy in candied yams, so you hear me? Those bad boys were caramelized to perfection with the right amount of tenderness and sweetness. The oxtails were very good as well!! Let's just say I'm over here doing my happy dance that I do when I get good food. I'll definitely be back again and again!!! Sorry for a pic of eaten food, I had forgotten to take it before I dug in!

Curry shrimp with rice and peas, cabbage and plantain

Just ok! Unpopular opinion. This tasted more like Jamaican-inspired food than actual authentic Jamaican food. I had the curry shrimp with rice and peas, cabbage and plantain. In all fairness, everything was cooked well (the texture was on point) but the flavor was off and didn't satisfy the way I expected it would. The plantain was fried well, perfectly soft with a slight crispy edge. The cabbage was soft enough but still firm. The rice was a good balance of fluffy but not much, but was missing not only the authentic flavor but also no allspice, thyme, coconut cream nor scotch bonnet was detected by my eyes or taste buds. Those are essential ingredients. Don't expect it to taste like your mummy's yard in Portmore or Lauderhill.

Jerk Chicken Meal

This place never disappoints! The food is delicious, plentiful and a great price for the portions you get. We're in the middle of a heat wave so the inside was hot, they do have a big fan blowing while you wait but it's still hot. The cashier was nice once you engaged her, you place your order then either sit at the tables inside while you wait or wait outside, your choice. This time I ordered 4 meals under $70 which is a great deal. Brown stewed chicken was great, the chicken was very tender. The fried chicken wings were good, fried the way I like them. The jerk chicken was amazing, don't forget to ask for the sauce that goes with it. Yummy The Curry chicken was delicious also. Sides- Mac and cheese, rice with peas with oxtail gravy and collard greens. Very very good. These meals lasted for at least 4 days for two people. Lots of food for the price.

Tried the Oxtails dinner this time. It didn't disappoint. Everything was hot and fresh. The oxtails meat was well seasoned and tender. Usually I have leftovers but not this time. Rice n peas was really good. Nice texture - rice wasn't too hard or soft and good flavorful. The greens was also really good. It was firm but not hard. I prefer mine not too soft and thus definitely wasn't. Service again was excellent. Greeted immediately and my order was taken. Didn't take long to receive my order although there were a few ppl in front of me. I highly recommend and look forward to trying other items.

Spinach patty

I actually went to the McDonough location. What went well? Everything! The greeting I received when entering was so warm and inviting. The food choices for veggie lovers and the food being made to order are just part of the reason for the five star review. I ordered spinach patties and rasta pasta (no meat). The patties are not the packaged ones that many other Caribbean restaurants offer. These appear to be homemade. The rasta pasta was overflowing and absolutely amazing. I was full by the time I took the picture and you can see how much is left! I could t help but also dip my spinach patty in the sauce, so yummy. I will definitely return.

Cutter's may have some of the best sides I have had from a Jamaican restaurant. The service was a little shaky, but maybe its a culture thing-I'm not sure yet. The food was tasty and plentiful and the prices were pretty good. The restaurant was clean, and the food was simply done, flavorful and nice. I would definitely recommend.

I am actually reviewing the Mcdonough location on Racetrack rd and not the Riverdale location. We arrived just before they opened so we waited to see what it was about and we were not disappointed. They had 10-12 orders within the first 45mins so I knew that was good. The guy at the counter was very friendly and helpful being this was our first trip in. We ordered 2 of the jerk chicken lunch plates for $8 and it comes with 3 sides. You can't get home cooked food anywhere for that much.! The Mac and cheese was my least favorite because everything else was so good. The rice and beans came with gravy and you could choose your gravy, there is oxtail, curry and regular brown gravy. I'm we got the curry and oxtail on our meals. I had to try the beef patties and those are cooked to order so give yourself an extra 20mins. It was well worth the wait. Overall we didn't have any complaints and it may be our favorite Jamaican spot now.

Food is delicious! I had jerk chicken, peas and rice, cabbage and yams. A side of plantains. Chicken was very flavorful not dry, very juicy. All side items were delicious too

The food was pretty good and you can't beat the price. The service was great and the restaurant was clean. I'll definitely try this place again.

Nesh ..

The food was steaming hot which was a good thing. The cabbage was good and seasoned...the greens didn't taste fresh and I personally like for curry to be saucy...it was dry which was really disappointing because I've been wanting to eat here for almost a year. I'm so sad because I should've had fast food instead.

This is my 2nd time here and it it won't be my last. The food was fresh and full of flavor. I called my order in and it was ready within 20 mins. The manger was helpful and delivered great customer service. I got there at a great time because as I walked out, there was a line forming. I ordered the jerk chicken and shrimp pasta and it was good. Creamy and full of bold flavor. It tasted more smoked than jerk to me but nonetheless it tasted good.

The Gouda mac and cheese, wasn't my favorite--but to be fair, I'm quite particular about my mac and cheese. Still, I know plenty of folks would enjoy . The gentleman serving the food, who I believe is the owner, was patient and thoughtful, taking the time to answer my questions and explain the menu options. His food truck was clean and well-kept, which I always appreciate. The location itself was well-lit, felt safe, and offered plenty of parking with easy access in and out--a big plus when you just want to grab your food without stress. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

It's a food truck!!!!!…read more I've been wanting to visit this place for months. I finally decide to take a trip to the corner of 138 & highway 85 and it's a food truck. It sits right in front of the cricket mobile. It was a rainy day. There was no line and the customer service was pleasant. He greeted me and took my order. 10 minutes later I had my food. I got the turkey leg stuffed with Mac & cheese and shrimp. The turkey leg was tender and slipped right off the bone and the food proportions were so humongous. I had to take a break. They give you plenty. So seasoned I was licking my lips afterwards

When looking at the prices for a jerk chicken I figured it was a steal along with the fact that they had cheap mac & cheese, which looked amazing. I figured I'd give this place a go. Outside of a very convoluted ordering process because the driver somehow didn't have an address for my hotel food arrived relatively promptly. I love the rice. It was quite flavorful and on top of that taking in the jerk seasonings and sauces made it quite the good eat. The vegetables on the other hand were quite lacking in flavor and instead felt like a not so great side piece to an otherwise potential filled meal. Where it truly went off, the rails was with the jerk chicken. The chicken was quite bony with multiple bones throughout it and the remaining meat surrounding it, dry and lacking flavor outside of the sauce and seasonings. Perhaps I was spoiled in LA getting solid offerings of everything, but this was not it. But what really saved this was the mac & cheese. It was quite flavor, packed moist and very much so portioned quite well for the seven dollar offering. Perhaps it was how long it had sat in the driver's car which I imagine would not help. I honestly borderline would probably only order the mac & cheese of what I got so far again but I would give it another shot.
