Curry Chicken Platter
Allison S.

Tried this place for the first time and it was amazing. Staff was super friendly and they had so many options! The line was pretty long when I went, but they went through everyone pretty fast. Food was amazing and hot. I got the curry chicken and they even added some sauce to the rice which was amazing. It does have bone in so just make sure when giving to little ones to take it off the bone. My only complaint is one of the pieces were pretty pink, but that's the only piece a saw like that. Which I heard pink is fine as long as it's up to temp, but I didn't eat that piece just in case. I would recommend trying it out because it was amazing.

I would never order from here again. The service is so slow the servers move with no urgency. The lady working the line would literally stand back to take a bite to eat then resume when she feels like it. That's annoying especially with two people in the line. It took about 15 minutes to be served. Let it slide whatever was really craving oxtails. Finally it's time to pay for my order after standing for so long and I'm told to go and get my own beverage out the fridge behind the counter because the worker didn't feel like walking down the line. Whatever. Finally my food. I never had bland oxtails before. No flavor whatsoever so ever and no spice. I asked for pepper sauce and was given franks red hot. What am I going to do with that? If you are looking for authentic or delicious Jamaican food keep it moving. The fresh made juice was the best part of the meal.

Jerk plated

Visiting from Los Angeles, and wanting some jerk chicken. Restaurant wasn't busy and we looked over their buffet. Food looked pretty good..so we decided to order a medium jerk chicken with rice/beans & cabbage. Chicken wasn't bad...wished it had a smoked taste. Jerk sauce was sweet with a kick. Didn't enjoy the cabbage. Customer service needs a class. After ordering our food and returning to line, waited 15 minutes to buy 3 drinks while the cashier rang up food orders and ignored us as we stood directly in front of him. The server plating plates was a bit rude screaming for him to "hurry up and ring her" as if we were bothering them and slowing down their rhythm!! All in all not bad, but definitely wouldn't return.

Food was cold and my rice was hard. Restrooms are nasty and lobby is dirty and sticky.

Curry chicken with white rice and cabbage

(picture is after I started eating) I usually love this place because the food is always good and the portions r worth the price. But this time I came in for my usual order (medium curry chicken plate) and I noticed that they didn't give me as much chicken as usual but the pieces seemed big so I didn't worry about it. When I started eating my meal I realized that they only gave me 4 pieces of chicken that were mostly fatty or bone‍

Oxtails full of gristle!

Let's get into it......had a craving for some Jamaican food yesterday, so I used my Yelp app, as I always do to find a close spot since I was in the office. It was a typical Jamaican spot, small, native music playing in the background, and the smell of great food! I decided on the oxtails....big mistake! The tails were tough and full of gristle! I got a medium plate, but it was more rice and peas and cabbage more than anything, and they forgot to put the plantains on the plate! The rice and peas and the cabbage were delicious, but I wish I'd gotten curry chicken, especially since I paid $26 for rice & peas and cabbage!! I'd go again, but I wouldn't order the oxtails.

I work at the airport an someone invited me here for lunch on a late Saturday afternoon. Due to Atlanta construction, what normally would have been a 15 min drive turned into 35 minutes. Thankfully this was some of the best Jamaican food I'd ever had. I had the ox tails with rice and cabbage. It was soooo good. I also had one of their chicken patties. That patty was so good Id eaten it before I was fully out the parking lot and through the red light. There is a buffet line where you can see all the food that is available for ordering. The give you a good amount of everything and its good. I don't know what else I can say other than they have good food.

Since my last review I've tried some other items that's definitely worth taking about. Recently, I stopped in to pick up food for friend. Saw for the first time and tried there Sweet Thai Chili Wings. It's lightly breaded wings coated in a sweet Thai chili sauce. Has the perfect balance of sweetness with little spicy kick to it. OMG..... amazing delicious!I'm one who can't handle food too spicy so when I say it's the perfect little kick.... it's really is. Had my Jamaican picky foodie friend try it and he thought it was really good too. Next item was there Chicken Noodle Soup. Something else that I'm picky with cause my mom is known for making good soup esp chicken. I have to admit there's taste homemade from scratch with a good balance of provisions in it. Great option when you don't have the time or energy to make your own.

Visited as they were listed on Yelp Take Out Week and I wanted to support. However, the staff didn't know anything about it so I didn't get the 30% discount mentioned. I was told their register only provides up to 20 percent off which was fine with me. I did let the young lady know so if someone comes that they are aware of the special. This is strictly a take out location and likely due to Covid. It looks like there were tables and chairs as some were placed on the corner so maybe when the pandemic is done, people can dine here again. It's a red building off Tara Blvd. I arrived around 7:30pm and there was no line but not long after I started to order, there were ten people in line behind me so this is a popular spot. People social distanced inside when ordering. Round social distancing signs were on the floor. There's no frills. It's a caferia style so you can see the food behind the plexiglass. I do wish they offered yams though. I ordered the goat platter and the curry platter. Both come with rice or red beans and rice, cabbage and a few plantains. The food is decent. They give plenty of food and are generous with the sauce over the rice. The flavor of the sauces were good and just enough spice. The rice and beans are a tad dry. I probably wouldn't do the drive here but if I'm nearby and want Jamaican food, I may stop by for a plate.

That really was fantastically good. The south-side needs to be a little more vocal about excellent dining experiences like this. My north-side friends need to know the goodness that awaits them here. The environs may not look like much, but that may be the best ox tail I've ever had. My friend had the curried chicken. It was fall off the bone tender, as was my ox tail. Absolutely delicious. Seasoned perfectly. There are many things on the lunch menu to try. A wide selection of carbs and proteins. I also had a "beef patty," a hand-held meat pie. (They also have chicken and veggie pies.) Also delicious. Make sure you get some plantains. And if you're into spicy, they'll make you very very happy. In fact, get some jerk wings in addition to your meal. Call it an appetizer. Kaboom! You're welcome. I can't wait to return here. Holler if you're coming with.

My husband and I have eaten here several times over the last few months and up until this past…read moreSunday it had been a delight. #1: the music is too loud, it's a restaurant, not a club. I asked "what" about 4 times to the lady taking my order bec I didn't hear her clearly over the music. The customers in front of us leaned in to place their order and hear the lady as well. That's an indicator that the music is too loud. #2: I ordered brown stew chicken with gravy, now maybe she couldn't hear me (even though I spoke extra loud bec of the music) because when I got my food, it was jerk chicken with jerk gravy. I know how brown stew chicken looks but I took a bite bec maybe the recipe changed or there was a new cook ‍. But taking that bite let me know it was indeed jerk chicken, I don't do spicy. I took it up to the front, telling the lady I ordered brown stew chicken but was given jerk and she told me I had the right thing. Then when I said it's never been spicy like this before, she told me it was bec they'd given me a pepper, picked it out & tossed it. NEWSFLASH!! THATS BEC THEY GAVE ME JERK INSTEAD OF BROWN STEW!! *Note: The pepper was in the small part of the tray with a corner of the food, meanwhile the main part is what has my mouth scorching. She insisted it was brown stew. I took it back to our table and had my husband look at & smell it and he assured me that I wasn't crazy, bec he always gets jerk (but he got Rasta Pasta this time); jerk chicken and brown stew chicken doesn't look, smell nor taste the same, never has. I just ate my plantains, coco bread, cabbage and what I could of the chicken & rice (most of the latter 2 went into the trash). I was disappointed and annoyed then and even now, just thinking about it. To me, dismissing my concerns when you can clearly see it's not what I ordered is bad customer service. Plus I hadn't eaten enough off of the plate for some kind of adjustment to not at least be offered/made. I would've gladly waited on more to be cooked if that was the issue or understood if someone accidentally got the order wrong.

So tip: don't turn back just because it looks dark from the outside. On the other side of the door, I found a very friendly person (I'm assuming the owner) who talked me through traditional Jamaican breakfast options and insisted I try the food before buying it. I was pretty sure I wanted to try ackee and saltfish so that's where we focused. It was delicious and he gave me both dumplings (plain bread) and festival (slightly sweet bread) on the side since I didn't know which I'd like. My fave is the festival. Since I don't like super sweet things, I loved it. I had my husband (who loves sweets) taste it and he said it was like funnel cake without the powdered sugar If you're a newbie like me: I learned that you're supposed to eat the ackee and saltfish like your meat and then add a starch (dumpling, festival, boiled yam, etc.). All in all, I enjoyed it, but I wasn't full enough after it. To be fair tho, I didnt finish the starches. probably to be expected, the bit I did eat (which was about 80% of a dumpling and a festival) made me tired/sluggish. That said I would absolutely go back....just no heavy starches at the top of my day!
