To begin let me state that Yum Yum Donuts was my Plan B. I was actually going to go to Wendy's but they were temporarily closed for remodeling. I hope the update includes charging stations for customers. But I'm guessing you're here to see why YumYum only got 2 stars. I will admit that perhaps I was a tad stingy with my stars. Perhaps I was you be the judge. My server wasn't particularly friendly today. Even worse He filled my order incorrectly. I specifically requested a vanilla creme donut. What I got was Bavarian Cream. I paid $2.29 for something I didn't want. All I want is what I want AND, I don't want what I don't want. So I was very disappointed with today's visit. I noticed that servers were quite friendly with their regular customers. Seems to me if they would treat all customers as well as regulars they'd have more loyal customers. Another thing that's disappointing is that every time I order a filled donut, the filling always reveals itself towards the end of the meal. The donut itself was ok. It was fresh and tasted good if you like Bavarian Cream filled donuts. I prefer Vanilla Creme filled donuts. I also like to get some creme in the FIRST bite. So I wasn't thrilled. The coffee was the star of breakfast. It was fresh, hot and of good quality. There was a good amount of variety of creamers to choose from, making the $2.49 for a small cup reasonable. Still I didn't appreciate paying $2.29 for a donut that I didn't order that had the filling in only one half of the donut. With so many donut shops in Chula Vista, some with loyalty plans, I don't see myself returning soon. I may just take a break from Yum Yum, and give them another try on the future. Thanks for reading...

We visited this location yesterday and at first the entire service was great, a woman helping behind the counter was so attentive and quick, but when it came to pay is where it got sketchy. The woman told the owner (I believe) what I ordered to ring me up, he got everything, but at the last moment added another donut on to my total. I immediately questioned it because I didn't get a regular donut, I ordered a half dozen. The way it was done and then he almost tried to blame the woman, but she told him the correct thing, I literally watched him at the end just press a button to add it to my total. I can tell an honest mistake.. this seemed very intentional. Make sure you doublecheck what exactly you're being rang up for before paying! Giving 3 stars because the woman working really was great.

This place was really welcoming with great customer services. They didn't rush me to make an order.. clean spot.. I also ordered a chorizo burrito so I will give an update on that soon

Baker here is such a hard worker! Stopped by late at night for a last minute pick up for the morning... it was around 11pm, and their selection was plenty! They have had mini donuts which I haven't seen Yum Yum carry before. This location has a pretty good selection and is more stocked than the Eastlake location. Will update after I eat some of the donuts in the morning!

My donuts were stale. :( idk if it's because I picked up a fee before closing lol ladies working here are nice. I'll have to try them again in the morning.

Still great donuts AND super friendly service...PLUS they have safe and thoughtful pandemic protocols in place.

That was a surprise as well. I get there right after 6AM and wasn't sure if they opened yet and sure enough they opened on time. Always a good sign. This plaza is dead before 10 AM so you will always find decent parking in the morning. I parked right up front. The young lady was very nice and welcomed me as I got inside. I knew what I wanted right away as I always see the $7 breakfast special sign when I am getting my tacos. You get a ham and cheese croissant and two donut holes or Munchkins if you're from New England, And a small coffee. I was in and out within a few mins. The place was very clean and of course has that fresh donut smell. I get home and try the coffee, I'm just so used to McDonald coffee and DD coffee that this was an acceptable 6 out of 10. I gave my wife the donut holes and she liked them and said they were very fresh. The ham/cheese croissant was out of this world. A perfect 10/10. Tasted like it was just made. And since I was the first customer that's probably true lol. It was like a French fiesta in my mouth. It was soft and flaky and the inside was cheesy and delicious. This made the meal!! I will definitely be back!

Then they trot out the nouveau cronut come latelys, the laminated divas that shed flakes everywhere like they're too important to stay intact. But the moment of truth arrives when you encounter the Texas doughnuts. These things are the size of a medium pizza and carry the same emotional weight. You do not buy one casually. It is a doughnut that forces you to confront your own hubris. Walking into Randy's feels like stepping into a gallery curated by someone who believes moderation is a personal failing. They sell their señorita bread in multiples of 5, and the price scales proportionally. They also have some packaged breads at the checkout counter and a display case with donuts and malasadas. I got 5 señorita breads for $4, and a guava malasada. When I was handed my bag of goods, the señorita breads were still warm! I've never had this type of bread before so I have no comparison. However, the fat, cigar-shaped breads were really satisfying while hot and fresh. They are buttery, sugary, and chewy inside. The texture was a bit homogenous for me, but still quite tasty. I had a second one hours later and it was not as nice. I think they would definitely benefit from a reheat if you have leftovers. The guava malasada was not my favorite. The jam inside was more musty than fragrant, and very artificially red. The dough itself was well-fried and soft, even fresh out of the refrigerator on the second day. I love the textural difference of the sugar crystals on the surface, compared to a traditional donut glaze. I ended up scooping the guava filling out of the middle and eating the fried bread. Overall, while I enjoyed the señorita breads, Chula Vista is a bit of a trek and I would not go out of my way to get them. I am interested in trying Starbread in the Bay, to see if they taste different.

The place has generous seating available, always clean and never dirty or messy, and is in a prime business lot at the intersection of IB Blvd/Coronado Ave and 13th Street. I've only been back once since the place was sold and I wasn't really into the flavors offered at that time, plus they were no longer offering the maple eclairs. Not sure if they are now, but I'm sure their other donuts are good since they've got good reviews and were in the Reader last year. Go check them out!

Just called someone from the back in Spanish, which, mija, I understood every word. The girl who came to help me was a little better but not much. She told me the chocolate pan de muerto was sold out, which fine, I get it, it was a holiday. But that's literally all you had to say. No smile, no "sorry we're out," nothing.
