    Empanadas
    Liz N.

They have a big selection of Mexican pastries, including all the classic old-school favorites. The place is big, clean, and super welcoming. They also have beef, cream cheese, and chicken empanadas that I might try next time. They have a fridge full of ready-made cakes, which is really convenient. The coffee was just okay. They do have a small parking area, which helps. Overall, a solid spot for pan dulce!

Was looking for a bakery near by to buy a cake. My cousin saw this place was close by and suggested we go check it out. Parking in the font limited to 15mins and there's no space to drive around it's literally the parking space and main road. The inside is clean and the pastries and bread were all behind the display window. The bread and other pastries are self serve they provide tongs and a tray. The cakes are beautifully displayed and we ended up getting an Oreo chocolate cake and asked if they could write on it and they did a beautiful job. We also ended up getting a concha, eclair and a cuerno. Everything was good love the bread it's perfect to pair with coffee. The Oreo cake was amazing moist and delicious. The staff is friendly. Would definitely return.

The absolutely best Pan dulce I have ever had. Absolutely delicious, rich and moist. We went to pick up bread in the afternoon and the bread was still sooo fresh and amazing. The parking is very limited but it is so worth it I can't recommend it enough and will only purchase sweet bread from here.

Stopped by this cute shop since somebody recommended this place during our dinner. Came in at around 2ish, they had several options for breads and cakes. We selected their best seller conchas and and a few others. They got a busy with a cake order and they made us wait a bit until somebody came from the back and finished packaging our order. Bread was tasty, and fluffy.

My friend brought some to share, and I just had to stop by myself. ( worth the drive) Love the vibe and everything was so fresh.

La Concha Bakery has always been a South Bay staple--tucked off E Street near 3rd Avenue--but I hadn't been in for a while, and it looks like it's had a bit of a zhuzh! Maybe the renovation happened a while ago (maybe even a year or more?), but it was new to me--and it looks great. Fresh, welcoming, and still holding onto the charm that makes it a neighborhood favorite. We grabbed a box full of goodies, and I have to say--the chocolate chip cookie surprised me the most. It had that nostalgic, gooey-chewy vibe that reminded me of a classic Mrs. Fields cookie. My wife's favorite was the pumpkin empanada, and all the hot empanadas behind the glass looked amazing. We tried two: the spinach with ricotta and the chicken. Both were incredibly buttery, flaky, and flavorful--you can tell they put care into their dough. We're saving the rest of the treats for our kids (trying to be good parents... for now), but we'll definitely be back for more. If you haven't been in a while, now's the perfect time to stop by and treat yourself. La Concha's still got it--just with a fresh new look! We will def be back to try more!

This is my second time coming here. I absolutely love it! All the sweet bread tastes amazing! The cakes are light and flavorful. Their empanadas are good. I would make the hour drive back here to get this sweet bread

Saw this bakery on TikTok and thought I would give it a try while I was in town. I went in earlier, so they had a lot of options. I bought a couple of vanilla concha's, some empanadas, donuts and a cortadillo. The empanadas were amazing! I do admit I don't eat those too often, but these had great crust and the filling was just the right sweetness. They were a little deflated, but I personally don't need a lot of filling. The flavors I got were Lemon, pineapple and guava. The lemon was my favorite. The donuts are average. The texture was a little dry and the icing is easy to melt and come off. The conchas were so tasty. The texture was nice and soft and the top was a nice added little sweet flavor to compliment the bread. My favorite was the cortadillo! All the cortadillos I have had in my life were always dry and the top layer hardly had flavor. This one was everything the others never could be. The breading was nice and soft. The top white icing had a nice sweetness, but not over sugary. I could use a little less bread, but I feel that's my personal preference. So this one was close to perfection. As for service, well it's not great, but it also isn't terrible. I feel like I probably would have to be a regular to get a positive vibe from them. This isn't going to deter me from going back again.

**A Hidden Gem in Chula Vista - La Concha Bakery** La Concha Bakery on East Street in downtown Chula Vista is an absolute must-visit for anyone who loves baked goods. I've never come across another bakery quite like this one--it's truly unique in both its selection and experience. From the moment you step inside, you'll notice a charming setup that makes choosing your treats a fun and interactive experience. At the entrance, there's a table filled with tongs and trays--grab one, then take your time browsing the impressive selection of baked goods. Their offerings lean heavily toward traditional Mexican pastries, but they also have familiar American favorites like donuts. What really makes this place stand out, though, are the unique and hard-to-find items that you won't see at just any bakery. The prices are extremely reasonable, with most items costing no more than a few dollars. At the front, there's also a fridge stocked with larger cakes, cheesecakes, and individually sized desserts. If you're in the mood for something savory, don't miss their empanada-style baked goods--flaky, buttery, and filled with delicious options like chicken, beef, and jalapeño cream cheese. They do offer coffee, though I found it to be just okay. But honestly, the baked goods are the real stars here. One important thing to note: **there is no dine-in area**. There are no café tables or seating, so everything here is strictly to-go. If you're planning to enjoy your treats right away, you might want to find a nearby park or a cozy spot to sit elsewhere. The bakery itself is clean, bright, and welcoming, with a vibrant mural on the side of the building adding to its charm. The counter staff is incredibly friendly, efficiently boxing up your selections when you're ready to check out. Parking can be tricky. There are a few spots right in front, but since the bakery is right off a busy street, pulling in and out can be a challenge--so be cautious. If it's peak hours, you might need to find parking in the nearby residential area. Also, while the bakery is wheelchair accessible, it is not pet-friendly. All in all, La Concha Bakery is an absolute gem. If you're anywhere near downtown Chula Vista, this spot is *not* to be missed. Whether you're craving something sweet or savory, you'll leave with a box full of delicious, one-of-a-kind treats.

Excellent! The moment I walked in I realized I was not as the usual Panderia. Oh No No No...this is next level! The selection of the quality is amazing! They have bakers throughout their business hours rotating fresh baked yumminess all day! The level of quality selection and execution of bake is amazing. The shop is super cute. The staff is super friendly just a gem.! I had a huge order for a birthday party Valentine's Day weekend. It was beautiful!

Concha and Champurrado (large size) $7.30

Store looks clean, easy parking, and they greet you with a welcome. Champurrado was not that good but not bad Pan dulce was good Average prices across the board. I come here because the bread is fresh and they have good variety. Very good customer service.

This is a great Mexican bakery, which I discovered simply by driving down E Street. I picked up a couple of Mexican Croissants, also known as cuernitos, and a "nuez" pan dulce. The butter croissants were $1.60 each, and so was the nuez. Both breads were terrific. I had both croissants at room temperature, and their texture and flavors were very good. The nuez I heated in my convection oven, and it was outstanding. It tasted great. I really liked the variety of Mexican sweet breads this bakery offers. They also offer hot savory empanadas. The place was very clean when I visited, and the ladies at the counter were super sweet. I will be back for sure!

Three layer vanilla cake with mango frosting with a slice cut out. Decorated on top with strawberries and a happy birthday message in pink.

The staff was nice but not too friendly when I was trying to find out more about the cakes and flavors, I had to read the labels since she didn't provide me any details. The cake was just okay, it was very dense and a bit dry. The marshmallow frosting was a little thick and the overall flavors were definitely different but not sure I would get this flavor again. I would like to try a few more flavors and maybe a tres leches cake to see how those are. It is located in Chula Vista in a small shopping center, limited parking available.
