I have been coming here for many years maybe since I was 8. They have been opened for a really long time, always friendly faces behind the counter. They have so much goodies to choose from! My favorite is their coconut bread, it's filled with shredded coconut pieces. A lot of Ube/taro baked pastries. I've attached pictures of what was left after the morning/lunch/dinner rush lol. This was late in the evening around 7pm. They were still open when we went. Recently discovered they accepted EBT. I'm assuming they accept debit cards. I always paid cash here. I came here twice on my San Diego vacation. Once on the way in and once on the way out. We showed up later in the afternoon Friday and were served fresh pandesal. I realized you have to ask the staff at the counter for the hot ones that everyone talks about in their reviews. It was soooo good. We even stopped on our way out to have for the week. Both times the staff were kind and attentive. They have a variety of other baked goods like carioca which we had and it was tasty! I came here recently craving filipino bread / pastries since I haven't had it in a long time. I was at the Joann's in this plaza, then saw a sign for fresh pan de sal. That's what got me in, as I probably wouldn't have noticed this place otherwise because it's in a small section of the mall next to seafood city & goldilocks! They have a wide variety of pastries and desserts here but make the bread fresh in the back. I got 1 ube cheese bread, 2 ube bolls, and 1 pan de sal for less than $5. First bite of the fresh bread with ube filling was just what I wanted. I definitely would come back if I am in the area again! Parking in the plaza is easy especially on the Joann's side. The bread is delicious. Not going to argue about that, but it's Thanksgiving day and we've been waiting for over 1 hour and 45 min. We are still standing in line. Catching up on Yelp reviews. This is for a visit to Bread Deluxe back on 7/21/18. Despite just having eaten at nearby Goldilocks, our relative brought us to this place. OMG the smell of freshly baked goods, especially pan de sal sent me back to my childhood baking with my late father. I wanted it all the Filipino carbs! Ended up with Spanish rolls, pan de sal (both still warm from the oven) and puto. The latter I gobbled up back at the hotel. Next time, I'd pack another check-in suitcase just to fill with all these items and hope TSA doesn't snack on them. Freeze and ration them once I return to Shoreline, WA. Yeah that's the game plan. Clothes? Who needs clothes? I'll take some of the above, hopia, ube bread, mamon, how about just two of everything in the shop? Like the slogan at Jimmy John's...free smells! Visited here to pickup a bag of fresh hot pan de sal since we were next door picking up a GrubHub order. We normally get our pan de sal at another Filipino bakery in National City. But considering we were next door, it was very convenient to grab a bag since 1) they had hot pan de sal available to sell us without any wait, 2) we were already there, and 3) it gave us a chance to try a new place. Their size of their pan de sals are well portioned. But the softness, and taste was not as tasty as I l'm accustomed to. I know this is purely my subjective opinion and others may have quite the opposite opinion. I want to point out that it wasn't like they weren't good, I just "prefer" the pan de sal where we normally get them. We didn't purchase any other types of bread, dessert, or other items they offer unfortunately. The staff was pleasant and their display area appeared clean from what we could tell. read more

Hubby and I picked up a few items yesterday afternoon, including 4 Ube Pan De Sal with cheese. They tasted good but the second one I pulled out and bit into I had a long hair in my mouth! I looked the bread and it was baked into it! I was so grossed out I spit out the bread and my husband told me to throw everything we bought in the trash. I hate wasting food but that was so disgusting that nobody wanted to try anything else made there. I asked my coworker if she's been here since she's Filipino and lives near this bakery. She said she hasn't, but after looking at some photos on Yelp, she said she did- but didn't know the name of the bakery LOL.... She brought some goodies to work today for the office. The white puto was just for me! The purple puto, pan de sal, pork meatloaf, and hopia were to be shared with the rest of our coworkers. I love pan de sal and this one was pretty good. We tried it with the warm meatloaf that she brought, which was tasty. I also had hopia for the first time. There are different colored markings on top of this round, sweet roll. I picked the yellow one, which was supposed to have pork inside, but there was nothing in it! I still liked it though. The other fillings were mung bean and something else that she said didn't taste very good. I'm glad to try all these baked goods today for breakfast. I wonder how their polvoron tastes like....maybe I'll have to check out this bakery myself to see what else they offer. read more

The smell of fresh goodies baking in the back was mouthwatering. Unfortunately, I did not like the ensaymada ube it's missing that traditional buttery sweetness and zing. The Spanish bread had cream cheese inside which I thought it supposedly powder milk and sugar; reminded me of knock off eclairs. However, "suman in gata" was pretty good hence the 3 star. The service was ok; some guy in the back was howling or yelling and could be heard in the store. Overall, I would rather go to goldilocks which is in the same shopping center. read more

Didn't like the Spanish bread, it had cream cheese filling, not the kind I'm used to. It's ok I guess. I wanted some "ube halaya" and sad to say they didn't deliver. It was the worst one I've tasted so far. I'm giving them the 3 stars for the flan. It was creamy and heavenly. The place is really small and kinda cramped, I was in line and I felt like I was encroaching on the personal space of the customer in front of me and vice versa. It's gonna be a hard decision to make to come back just for the flan- when your name calls for bread and it's supposed to be deluxe you gotta have at least one that'll blow the customer's socks off. I love love LOVE coming here after Seafood city. Before walking into Seafood City, you can smell the fresh Pandesal that are just baked! I can't help but stop inside here first and then head to seafood city. I came here with my family when I was younger when I didn't live in SD yet! So coming here we'd always buy a HUGE amount of pandesal, and you can tell we weren't from there since we bought so much, I was sort of embaressed because it seems we can consume that much in a day or something. Which we probably can since the pandesal is just OH SO GOOD and huge and fresh. I love it! They also have other fresh baked goods here! I love getting hopia but their always out, they say usually in the morning to afternoon it's gone, and I'm a night person so I usually go in the evenings. Oh well! Still! I do love all the different baked goods they have for sale here. Most of them are so foreign to me, but they look delicious. I come here for the butter bread and the pan de sal. They're both so freaking tasty, and even though I know they're not good for me, I can't stop myself from eating them. This little shop is right to the left of the Seafood City entrance, so you might not even notice it. The parking lot here is out of control crazy, with all the shoppers going to Seafood City and the Big Lots. I always resign myself to the fact that I'm going to be forced to park a ways away just to get to the store. The girls who work here are pleasant enough, but certainly not friendly. Every time I go in, I feel so out of place, and I know I'm not being overly sensitive, since I'm not the only one to have remarked on that feeling. But hell - I'm in there for a good two minutes - enough time to grab a bag of butter bread, a bag of pan de sal, point and drool over the other baked goods, pay for my items, and get the hell outta there. Very disappointed. I came around 9am 3/23/2020 to buy some bread. The cashier lady was extremely rude for no apparent reason. When I was getting ready to pay, I placed my item at a spot that seemed to upset her and she demanded "not there." I disregarded her attitude initially so I placed my item on the other side of the register that was difficult to reach, then she aggressively grabbed my item and said "NO, not there! That basket is only for money!!" I questioned her attitude and she accused me of being unruly first. Then she continued talking to the customer behind me, indirectly talking about me. In any customer service job, this is NEVER acceptable. I don't know if she was having that bad of a bad day, but nonetheless, this completely blindsided me and should not be taken lightly. Ok, I am a white guy so forgive me if I spell some of the things wrong here lol. My wife is Filipina so of course she is down here all the time despite the fact we live in La Mesa. I make sure she gets at the very least a dozen pan de sal every time she is in the area. It is so good here and it often does not even last a day in our house.
