    Churros
    Cyn K.

Overview: Stale donuts and churros, save your money and time So disappointed :( Appearance does NOT equal taste, while they look great, their taste is nowhere near what they look like. I didn't think you could go wrong with fried dough and sugar but somehow BomBom manages to do it. I've tried them at three different farmers' markets including Oceanside, Otay Ranch, and Little Italy and each time I've been disappointed by their items. Their churros were hard and chrunchy, with no softness in the middle at all. I've had their Ube, Apple Pie, and Horchata and all three tasted like old, fried bread. Ube was okay, it is just ube extract mixed with whipped cream. Horchata barely had any cinamon flavor and was basically a sugar-coated fried piece of bread filled with whipped cream. The Apple Pie was the best of the three but not by a lot. The filling tasted good like appie pie in a dounut, BUT it was again distracted by the taste and texture of the actual donut being old, chewy, and dense, not like fluffy like you'd expect it to be. They had no prices listed each time I went and I've heard them change the prices in the multiple times I've been there from $6 a donut to up to $10 for one. I've given them multiple chances at redeeming themselves because they have so many flavors that look yummy, but each time was more disappointing than the last. They've had a line each time I've gone, service was okay since they're in a rush. The busy atmosphere of the farmers' markets and having their slogan being shouted at customers every ten seconds does get a little overwhelming while you're waiting in line to buy from them, but I get that they are trying to attract customers. Overall: Pretty but no sustenance, I won't be back again

"HAVE A BOM DAY" lol (3.7 stars) Aimlessly searching for baked goods or morning pastries at the market and stumbled on this booth. They have a shop in South Bay but I did not know the vendor at the farmers market although I've always wanted to try their churros, I can settle for them donuts. Obviously, go early because they do have limited supply and weather can impact the togetherness of the pastries. Quite a few to pick from but the three that caught my eyes were 1) PEACHES AND CREAM - sugar donut filled with cream and a big slice of peach. Although this was basically a stuffed cream donut with one big peach, I appreciate the peach because there isn't enough peach flavored filling donuts out there. HIGHLY RECOMMEND 2) HAZELNUT - sugar donut stuffed with hazelnut chocolate (aka Nutella). This is the basic and safe one to order if you don't know what to order. 3) CHOCOLATE COVERED - another safe one. Chocolate coated sugar donut stuffed with cream. Very similar to a bombillini and malasadas; those have custard and i prefer custard over cream inside my donuts. They did hold up (not melt) as I strolled through the market and head home. I wouldn't say the same if it was summer! Perhaps, next visit I can just settle for one instead of 3 or hopefully if available get only the churros.

Best ube donuts out there. Just look at the photo. This is how a respectable amount of filling should be in a donut.

Apple fritter for two please. Cute little coffee stick too! Thx for the hospitality! We'll be back!

Decided to stop in for a donut after going to Vons. Was excited to see a new donut shop and they are under new management and in transition stage however we enjoyed The hospitality we received and the apple fritter and latte were delicious. Will be back!

I picked up a few items for a work meeting! Everyone loved it! It was a huge hit. They have lots of variety. They ranged from $6 to $7. I saw a lot of reviews about churros but I didn't see any the night I went. Maybe he next time I visit!

really good, donuts are a good size, moist and the atmosphere is chill. I went later in the day so the donuts were not as fresh but if you go in the morning I bet they'll taste even better. otherwise would definitely recommend. Thank you!

The new ownership is so friendly, their local, the donuts have significantly improved, and the environment is much nicer to be in now. Everything they have is good. They took recommendations for what to add on the menu and I hope they stick around for good.

The moment you walk through the door, the smell of fresh baked pan hits you and it is everything. The selection of pan dulce and bolillos had me feeling like I was back in Mexico City. So many options, beautifully displayed. That part alone almost made the trip worth it. But the customer service... yeah, I'm not the only one who noticed. I asked the lady at the register in Spanish if there was any chocolate pan de muerto and she completely ignored me. Like, didn't even look up. Just called someone from the back in Spanish, which, mija, I understood every word. The girl who came to help me was a little better but not much. She told me the chocolate pan de muerto was sold out, which fine, I get it, it was a holiday. But that's literally all you had to say. No smile, no "sorry we're out," nothing. Just took my money and that was that. The panadería itself deserves five stars. The staff needs some work. I'll probably go back for the pan because it really is that good, but I'm keeping my expectations low on the service side.

They sell their señorita bread in multiples of 5, and the price scales proportionally. They also have some packaged breads at the checkout counter and a display case with donuts and malasadas. I got 5 señorita breads for $4, and a guava malasada. When I was handed my bag of goods, the señorita breads were still warm! I've never had this type of bread before so I have no comparison. However, the fat, cigar-shaped breads were really satisfying while hot and fresh. They are buttery, sugary, and chewy inside. The texture was a bit homogenous for me, but still quite tasty. I had a second one hours later and it was not as nice. I think they would definitely benefit from a reheat if you have leftovers. The guava malasada was not my favorite. The jam inside was more musty than fragrant, and very artificially red. The dough itself was well-fried and soft, even fresh out of the refrigerator on the second day. I love the textural difference of the sugar crystals on the surface, compared to a traditional donut glaze. I ended up scooping the guava filling out of the middle and eating the fried bread. Overall, while I enjoyed the señorita breads, Chula Vista is a bit of a trek and I would not go out of my way to get them. I am interested in trying Starbread in the Bay, to see if they taste different.
