I stopped here on Friday after hearing about this restaurant on Instagram from @rudumplingme with whose culinary opinion I often concur. And as I was warned on Instagram, the bao's are so juicy and delicious, you might want to consider eating them with a raincoat on! :-). At 4 for $7 my sheng jian bao were a bit more expensive than at some of my other go to places, but their quality and size, make them worth the price. I am not yet eating inside restaurants so I took mine to go and ate two on 51st street then walked down 4th avenue and up 9th St to the Bagel Pub where I bought a coffee (actually two because buy one, get one free every day after 2:00PM - great deal and they put mine in a large cup to save paper) and ate another one at their outdoor tables with my coffee. Finally that night I finished the 4th one as Becky G did in her previous review, via my air fryer! Yum Bao is a small, not fancy, clean restaurant that serves up quality food ~ highly recommend.

Delicious! Nice location, try the pan fried pork buns and the soy milk, weirdly addictive, will be coming back

The food was very fairly priced and the portions were huge. We got the pork soup dumplings, pork fried rice, szechuan chicken (which came with white rice), and pad see ew (which though not listed comes with pork, chicken, and shrimp). Everything was solid, but our favorite was the fried rice which had a ton of flavor. I liked the veggies that were in the chicken dish but there were just way too many of them compared to the chicken and I wasn't crazy about the sauce. The pad see ew wasn't made the traditional way I've had it with soy sauce and oyster sauce. It had some sort of orange sauce that tasted closer to a sweet and sour. It wasn't bad it was just not what I was hoping for. The soup dumplings were solid, no complaints there. And the fried rice was great, lots of flavor. Overall, I liked this place especially for the price but I'd probably order different things if I went back.

I found parking down the block and walked over to the restaurant. It seems like more of a delivery spot because there was no one inside sitting at any of the 5 tables. It's a fairly good size space, very simply decorated, mixed with a cool wall resembling a curio cabinet of treasures. I chose a spot in the middle and went to the restroom which was clean and simple. I noticed there were a lot of takeout orders, from delivery services to local folks picking up their regular dinner. I looked over the menu and decided on salt and pepper wings and an order of shrimp. Fried Rice came out first and it was delicious. I even tasted a hint of salted egg yolk mixed into the egg mixture friefried up with the rice that signature crispiness with the little saltiness.... fantastic. The salt and pepper wings were different than the ones i'm accustomed to though the flavor was amazing. It didn't have the fried garlic, peppers, chilis, and onions that i'm accustomed to being in the dish. They were still flavorful, juicy and crisp and I could tell they cooked them fresh. That was much appreciated. I ended up taking half of my food home because I was stuffed.Thank you Msm Ellen and the Crown Garden crew for a tasty solo dinner.

We were skeptical about this restaurant but it exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to return! We came on a weekend for dinner so it was busy! We were able to snag a table and seeing how busy this place was, we knew it was going to be good! We had the pork XLB, chicken feet, pork & vegetable wontons with spicy peanut sauce, noodles with scallion and peanut butter sauce, beef lo mein and the beef ribs. Everything was delicious! The highlights of our meal were the pork XLB and the beef ribs. The pork XLB were made fresh to order and they were flavorful and juicy! Definitely on my list of best XLB I have ever had. The beef ribs were also delicious! They torched it table side which definitely added a nice touch! Considering how busy they were, the service was immaculate. They were also very attentive to details since we had a kid with allergies. We will definitely be coming back soon. This place is also right next to the Court Street train station which makes it very convenient to get to!

Very solid seaweed and also the cucumber salad. Scallion pancakes were thin and could have been more crispy. Overall very satisfied with the soup dumplings. Would go again.
