Was in the area visiting family and needed help adjusting my glasses (I sat on them) so I decided to try this place... The person working was extremely rude. Apparently I wasn't dressed nice enough (I had been mowing my moms yard) because the second she saw me, she acted like I was bothering her... I didn't even let her finish. I make more money in one month, than she will all year. I don't ask much but common courtesy. Maybe you HAVE to spend money for decent service? Idk but I will not be back to find out read more

Yucaipa Valley Optometry is great! Every staff member is so nice and helpful. Very kind and patient. Been seeing Dr. Saunders for a while now, he is so funny and a great Doctor! My teenage son had his first eye exam with Doctor Hernandez today. She's amazing. So kind and thorough. She explained everything to him and ran so many tests to ensure she fully understood everything that was going on with him and how to best treat him. It's unfortunate that we try to stay local to keep businesses operating. But when the staff treat you like they don't need your business, then I'll take my business elsewhere - even if it means out of the city. What a shame. Being rude to customers is not the way to go. read more

I went to this office this afternoon for an eye exam. I could not believe it, that the entire staff, with the exception of the optometrist were not wearing masks. I had to ask the lady, who was doing the snapshots of my eyes, to please put on a mask. Towards the end of my exam, I spoke to the doctor about his staff not wearing masks. I was shocked when he said they don't have to wear masks. If they are sick, they stay home and they are all vaccinated. I told him that they could be asymptomatic He also said that my husband could go see an eye dr. (He mentioned a name) because they all wear masks there. Unbelievable!!! I did mention the CDC guidelines about masking up inside even if you are vaccinated! I would have given this establishment a half star if I could!!! read more

In opposition to the single poor review, I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with Dr. Saunders and his staff. They are always polite to me, engaging, helpful and forthright; I actually look forward to my office visits. Some people take a single, possibly less than absolutely stellar visit to a business and consider it a personal affront to themselves. That's ok; hopefully they find an optometrist more their style. Dr. Saunders is a little quirky but I personally find that a plus. Enjoy. read more

I had an appointment for 9 am I called them at 8:35 am informing them I would be 5 min late. The girl said they would not be able to see me as they were booked solid and had no room for if I was late. What a waste of my time I was driving from work in Riverside to see them. 60 min of my time gone good thing I called or it would have been 2 hours lost. DO NOT GO HERE. They are rude, defensive, and do not communicate well between the front office and back office. I have received better eye care from the Walmart eye doctor when I was young adult. We have been going here for years and the level of front office service has varied. Sometimes it was great and sometimes the ladies are very rude. The doctor himself seemed to care but this last experience was my last experience. I have had 2 issues that have been mismanaged by the front office. Just so that other readers/posters are clear, I am professional with multiple and advanced degrees and have engineered practice solutions for both small and large practices of various kinds. And the level of fail here stems from lack of patient compassion. We took our kid because the frames were hurting her head, so they charged for an eye exam - absolutely brilliant. They never adjusted the frames. That's like taking your car in for a flat repair and getting an oil and not fixing the flat. I can't decide if they're unknowingly operating in an altered reality or whether its on purpose, but if you want to find out for yourself, pay them a visit. Poor service, rude defensive attitude, poor communication, all add up to a poor experience for you. Here's an example: I asked the doctor's office (front office lady) why they didn't address the issue that my kid was experiencing but instead just gave her an exam, they said "its always good to have an exam." - she also admitted that they didn't address the issue. I then said "My wife said that she told you about the issue", the lady said "I wasn't here that day." - irrelevant and this is considered passing the buck. I asked them well don't you ask questions about comfort and fit etc, they said "its half our fault half your fault for not telling us." - OK maybe, but a professional practice should know what to ask and not leave it to the 12 year old patient to openly explain and manage her eye care, a 12 year old should be prompted to ask questions. And at this point she was so defensive, saying that they are not doing anything shady, I guess they must have heard that before. Then in a subsequent conversation, the doctor's office indicated that they did perform the adjustment. But my wife could not pickup her lenses up due to this discussion that I the husband had with the front office lady. That's fine, I have been asking my wife to go somewhere else for a while because they seem to only care about charging and not helping. I remember the Doctor saying once if there is ever an issue please let me know. I guess what he really meant was to him know so he could avoid dealing with it. So in summary: - Rude: by doing a disservice to my wife and kid. - Defensive: by claiming that they are not doing anything shady and saying that they weren't there and avoiding taking responsibility. - Poor Service: It's actually lack of service if you you need to make sure you are given the attention that you need. They wont ask you questions that probe your experience. Service seems to be a secondary priority. - Poor Communication: in my recent dealings with this office, their version of the story was inaccurate, and changed. - Poor Management: to avoid dealing with an issue, just refund and the problem goes away - brilliant! Oh and by the way, I think they post their own reviews on other review sites. I think the yelp filter should be able to catch that practice, however. read more

I just read the one negative review that was posted and wonder... a 12 year-old girl (who I assume speaks English because she has parents who obviously have a command of the English language) can't communicate for herself that her glasses hurt??? And they're blaming the office staff? Huh??? All four of us in my family have been coming here for at least six or eight years now. I appreciate that they take care of all of us and they have been very friendly to us. My only negative experience was when one of the ladies at the front desk was wearing a top that was so low-cut that I was uncomfortable with my teenage son there. I have been seeing Dr. Saunders for over 20 years. When he relocates, I follow. I find drops and contacts being put in my eyes to be anxiety inducing but somehow Dr. Saunders makes it peaceful. His exam room is quiet and calming. His waiting room is classy with a rather extensive selection of frames. I have never met an employee at Yucaipa Valley Optometry that was less than exemplary. My experiences there have always been prompt, professional, relaxing. My daughter had her first eye exam with Dr. Saunders when she was 6. She loved the experience and now that she is 13, he has just fitted her with her first pair of glasses. Suitable location for kids and adults alike. read more

I have been going here since it opened, and I would never go anywhere else! The Doctor is always professional, funny, and never rushes. He explains things in detail, and makes it understandable. That was extremely important when my Mother and Grandmother were diagnosed with Macular Degeneration. They made that devastating blow a little easier, and were so caring and helpful it was amazing. He also treats my son who has Color Deficiency. Amazing service and expertise! I am always happy with the prices, selection and services. I would recommended them to anyone, and have.
