My family has been going here for over 20 years. I had a great experience at my recent appointment! My appointment was on a Sunday so there was only one girl working the front and the glasses area. When we walked in she wasn't at the front desk but arrived within just a few minutes and greeted us They made the entire process easy and comfortable, and I never felt rushed. The doctor took the time to explain everything clearly and answered questions, which I really appreciated. It's nice to have a doctor who doesn't make you feel like you're just another appointment on the schedule. The staff was also wonderful when it came time to choose new glasses after seeing the Dr. She was patient, helpful, and offered suggestions without making me feel pressured. They have a great selection of frames, with plenty of styles to choose from, so there's something for just about everyone. Another huge plus is that they offer Sunday appointments! For people who work Monday through Friday, having the option to come in on a Sunday is incredibly convenient. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience at Van Dusen Optometry. Went to this Doc for 20 years and really liked him, very nice man. But his office staff was so rude, lazy and disrespectful. Namely Pam. Condescending and just plain b*itchy all the time. Quit coming here because of the staff and that the lab never got my prescription right the first time or any time. Ever. It would take weeks and three or four returns to get it remotely close, and even then I could never see clearly while driving at night. Enough was enough. I now go to Lenscrafters, which is super costly, but I have never seen better in my life! And they get it right the first time, every time! Crisp and clear! I've heard many great things about the actual doctor but his so called "receptionists" are complete and utter garbage. They tried telling me I didn't have an appointment even though I have an appointment card. Where else am I gonna get the card from? How about we match one of the receptionists penmanship with the one on the appointment card. I waited two weeks for this appointment just to hear "We can reschedule another one." We went for my husband and they told us they had a package deal for exam and glasses together I asked if that was correct and they told us yes and I made sure to ask again just to make sure and made an appointment for my husband, well my husband goes in and they tell him no that they don't have a package deal and that they charge $100 dollars just for an exam and glasses start at $100 then why did they tell me there was a package deal and proceed to explain twice when I asked the week prior! Best doctor I have ever been to. I have a very difficult prescription and usually my glasses Just end up in a drawer for a year or two. Dr Van Dusen and his staff are awesome! Dr Van Dusen is an extraordinary dr he thoroughly explains every step to his exam. He is the only Dr that did not write a prescription right then and there and send me on my way! From not wearing prescription glasses or contacts for sooo long has caused alot of strain and stress on my eyes and in order to get them to calm down to see my true vision he needs me to start with one prescription and give it a week to let my eyes calm down and try to see if it corrects my vision a little and then going to do another exam to adjust the prescription. Where as any other Dr just examines your eyes and writes you a prescription and says come back in a year. Highly recommended office!! So extremely satisfied! read more

The customer service is horrible. I took my foster child for an eye appointment. I received a reminder call earlier that day. I mentioned to the lady who called that the child now has IEHP as his insurance. She said that's fine. The receptionist would not accept the child's IEHP card without the Medi-Cal card. I went down the street to the Social Services office to get a temporary Medi-Cal card. While I was gone she told my daughter that if I didn't return in 15 minutes she would cancel my appointment. It would be nice to get into see the doctor so I could give him a good review. read more

I really like Dr. Van Dusen and Pam but the receptionist is horrible.. She is very unprofessional and has made me take my business else where. I had a problem in the past with her but I Recently called and was put on "hold" for 5 minutes . I could hear her whole conversation with whoever she was helping. I also don't believe flip flops are office attire. Would give the doctor a 4.5 stars but the receptionist a zero. read more

If I could give this place a mark lower than 1 star I would, by far the worst I have ever been treated. I questioned the so called manager why she said my glasses arm was snapped off, then walked away into the back without saying anything else, like I'll be back or anything. When she returned I asked her what was the deal with my glasses, she said she had to decide if they were going to be warrantied, I then said what decision had to be made by her because I paid for the warranty at which point she told me to stop yelling at her, what??? I didn't yell at her, that is the way i always talk.i have the conversation recorded on my phone as proof of this fact. So now I'm not allowed to have my glasses replaced or the warranty coverage I paid for. On top of that the doctor who I would expect to be professional has not returned any of my calls. If you decide to go to this place make sure you whisper around the manager so you don't give up your warranty that you paid for!!! read more

Have been going here for years and the services is great. Problem i have is that now if you have more then 1 kid you have to make separate appointments for each kid on different days. I have 4 kids so i had to keep going back 4 times just so each kid could be seen..... Sorry but this is just crazy and don't have the time for it... read more

Yet another absurdly stuck-up doctors office. Seriously, how many times does a doctor need to confirm an insurance coverage? 99% of Doctors only require physically seeing an ID, because they confirm coverage through it. This quack mandates 3 forms of verification after they verify your information themselves. Complete idiots. read more

The doctor spent a lot of time explaining everything and the lady that helped me choose glasses went over all of my options and made me a pair of glasses I love. Dr. Van Dusen has been my optometrist for about 25 years and he takes excellent care of my eyes. I have had glasses and contact lenses from him and he is quite thorough. I also am having dry eye issues, and he is helping me with that also. He really listens to me when I tell him what the issue is. read more

This office was able to see me for an eye exam on short notice and get my new glasses before my vacation. The eye drops during the exam did not burn my eyes the way they did at another place. And my glasses fit perfectly with no adjustment. They were very nice and I enjoyed meeting them. I am very pleased. read more
